Wow...like a time capsule of an era. Bowe and Holyfield were fierce rivals, but had mutual respect. You could sense that Holyfield had grown in popularity, even after the loss. He won a lot of fans after fighting Bowe. I liked Holyfield, but didn't become a true fan until he fought Bowe. When Holyfield made it through that 10th Round with Bowe and even fought back strong, that was a turning point for me. I was like: "I knew he had it in him!" I realized Holyfield was "Rocky" and became a big fan of his afterwards. Certain guys were fierce rivavls of Holyfied, but are now good friends of Holyfield - and that includes Bowe and Tyson. Holyfield, Bowe and Tyson always put it on the line, and were fun to watch. Great era for HW's!
I remember this,I knew Evander would win the rematch. Rock Newman and Bowes up and down battle of the bulge killed his career. He should have fought Lennox Lewis after the first Holyfield fight,he would have won at that point in time.
Jeffrey LeHew "" you are well educated. Your right at that point Bow was winning the straps, & Lennox was being knocked out by McCall. Bow was Better at that point Lennox became more of a force around 1997 onwards. While Bow was a Real force from 91-94. I would have loved Riddick vs Mike OMG 👑
Part of been a champion is discipline, skill , heart. Missing any of the components you'll never get to the top and stay there. Lennox had all 3 and would always have Bowes number.
Jimjim Skimmer. True. The Bowe that beat Tillery, Cooper, Seldon then Holyfield (1st fight) had all the tools to be an all time great: great use of size, inside fighting, speed, power, fast and hard jab to body and head, good head and foot movement, fitness, determination and durability. That version of Bowe would have given a peak Tyson a very tough night on the night when he first beat Holyfield. Shame it was four years late - though Tyson at the time while (wrongly) incarcerated said he considered Bowe a friend from school and the neighbourhood whom he had in the past not even treated well, so would not consider fighting him out of respect.
King Cornelius well Aries Spears made a joke about an interview that riddick bowe did and he tried to say “suppose to do” but it came out saying “poddado” lol
Okay...little freaked out as I vividly remember watching this live back in the day I wasn't even an Arsenio Hall fan per se', but when I heard Evander was on there I had to watch.
Bowe and Holyfield were mutual friends and so are nowadays. They always fight inside the ring but hug it off afterwards. Like Mc Enroe and Borg, Prost and Senna, Mc Grath and Emig (if you are into MX racing).
The time (🇺🇸) ruled heavyweight boxing was great they fought more often unlike now when Deontay Wilder(🇺🇸) is afraid of fighting Tyson Fury(🏴) for the second time and Anthony Joshua(🏴) who has stayed a whole year without fighting so sad
Look at Evander's face at 11:37 .. you knew he would die trying to beat Bowe in that second fight. He wasn't built for smack talking, but smack talking sure got to him...a lot. Some of his opponents didn't realize that.
No Evander didn't mind smack talk as long as it was some-what friendly. Evander got mad when people resorted to filth and unGodly ways of talking. He was deeply spiritual and religious and didn't mind the old back and forth but took it serious when guys like Tyson would say crazy things about him in pre-fight hype.
"..can't touch dat" ["doo-doo-do du-du, ..my, my Riddick and Holyfield hit, so hard, makes me say "oh my lord", thank you, for blessing me, with a mind that survived and my two front teeth"] "...can't touch dis"
I always loved watching Holyfield he weren't a true heavyweight that's what makes him even more of a warrior to me ,the man has the heart of a lion, your right the fights against bowe we're unbelievable, it's very rare to see big men going toe to toe, riddick could have been a massive star but as you said down below he had no discipline, he just wanted to kill you and it weren't just with his fists he would use any part of his body.
Nobody is a "true" heavyweight except for maybe people who are 6 foot 5 or taller. Back in the day heavyweights would "cut down" weight and come in at a "desired" 210 or something close for speed and movement mixed with power. In the 90's and after people started using weights to become jacked up freaks which left the 6 foot 5 and above guys coming in at 240 or more. This ruined the heavyweight division because now the heavyweights are jacked up and awkward with slow movement instead of lean and mean like they used to be. Holyfield was just as much a true heavyweight as Mike Tyson or Bowe. But I agree with your point that Holyfield is a warrior though. His comeback against Bowe in the 10th round was something straight out of the movies.
Actually when it comes to having sex before you fight. It's been debunked.. Sports Science actually did a test about this.. Using athletes.. And they actually found that after sex the athletes performed better and had more testosterone.. Interesting..
2nd fight was a robbery. Bowe LANDED not just threw but LANDED 100 more punches in the fight. Bowe whopped Holy first 4/5 rounds. He lost complete focus after fan man landed on his pregnant wife but came on strong towards the end.
I’m surprised with all the millions and was on top of the world that Hammer made, People magazine didn’t bothered to put him on as “sexist man alive” issue
Don King and the corrupt WBC ruined Bowe's career by blackmailing and defrauding him out of his title. Bowe liking ice cream more than the glory didn't help either.
Cory Hill corrupt wbc?? Lennox Lewis was his mandatory, and Bowe didn't want the fight.. all fighters know that they have to face their mandatory once per year
For real. I never liked him. Listen to him in this interview. Can you imagine managers today saying "If we can keep getting these gas station workers at 7 mil a pop we'll take 'em every time". Rock didn't give fuck all about Bowe's legacy..only how much money he could put in his own pocket.

Those 3 defined that era. Prolly won't see Hws again like that in my lifetime.
@@doublem1975x Tyson wasn’t a 90s hw, he didn’t even beat the contenders of the 90s only bums. Mcneeley, Mathis jr, bruno are not top 90s hws

He certainly woild have beaten Lewis
Just like he did in the Olympics
@@B.Wayne88 in the Olympics Lewis was given the win he didn't earn it.
What a wonderful moment at the end of the video.
Love this era. Bowe could of been the best ever. No discipline.
Jimjim Skimmer So true man!

Jonny Bravo he only beat him once in the Olympics, dont think he could beat him professionally

You said it. He was phenomenal.
Bowe looks in better shape here than he was for the actual rematch.
This was probably the last time we saw Bowe truly in shape lol
He was
2 Legends!
Great Segment!!!
bowe always was a slow talker and now everyone says he’s punch drunk

That was a new JUICED up version of Evander Holyfield.. No one puts on that much muscle size in a such a sort space of time
Steroids & HGH

Evander had Heart Problems in such young Age. Due to Steroid Use
I love how rock Newman defends bowe
You mean before he stripped him of all of his money?
Boxers will let the dumbest folks come in and take their money from em. What the hell is Hammer doin there taking another man's money.
