If I got it right, DH BA was a heartful, original show with the same energy as 30 years ago, whereas some (not all of course) young "super tech" bands hide behind their technical knowledge and perform miserable, soulless acts. This is my interpretation. Maybe I'm wrong.

So many bands nowadays could take a lesson from these guys in how to put on a live performance. The sound is tight, heavy, and pummeling. In other words: perfect. Angel Cotte does a beautiful job of being his own drummer while still paying homage to the insanity that was Vinny Daze (RIP). The whole band just rips. And Steve's vox are the perfect blend of gasoline and an acidic mix of raw power. Like Frank Mullen (formerly of Suffocation), he MAKES the vox an instrument instead of something separate. One of my absolute all-time favorite bands!!! Hail!! \m/

Always loved Steve's vocals. Not the same without Vinny, but glad to see them perform together again. Unbelievable they are still as amazing musically as they were 20 years ago. They put young bands to shame.

@@Lilbroda Theatre of Flesh isn't wrong to group DH in the death metal umbrella. Demolition Hammer's songwriting had a lot of death metal influences and elements. It was what made them so unique back in the day. They were heavy as fuck whereas other thrash bands sounded a bit sterile in comparison.
@@Bones98 There were bands playing like this before DH, Dark Angel is a good exemple from the mid 80s, you might mistake it for DM because of fast blast and double kicks and growl vocals, but DM was about the atmosphere, the low key and tremolo melodies and the variation of tempo which def gave the style the unique signature. I still understand why people would call DH Death Metal. But they are a thrash metal band. An extreme one, no doubt.
This is death / thrash. Akin to the more speedy / proto-death metal sound that was more early 90’s (88-91), especially in the florida “morrisound” era scene.

This kind of death-thrash with bits of proto-black (as in 12:36) metal is a genre on its own. Like the first albuns of Sepultura, old Sodom and so. Amazing sound, great energy. Congratz to you DH, amazing comeback.

Brutal Assault seems much better than Wacken in general... they support underground bands and haven't completely sold out
