As of recently, my hat goes to Mantic's marauder rainmaker/ripper suits for Firefight/Deadzone. Its a pair of flat-faced, T-posing orks that skipped leg day. They are made of PVC parts that do not entirely fit together. For some reason they thought it would be a great idea to put these models in the Firefight 2nd edition starter box, which means they occupy the same space as the vastly superior hard plastic marauder commando and brawlers kit.

The main issue with the Marauder line is the inconsistency with their faces. The new hard plastic kit looks yo be a great kit. It does highlight how bad the rest of the Marauder range is.

That's pretty poor by today standards. I wonder if it might be worth adding some milliput or greenstuff to the back of the cloak to give it more volume?

Especially as Mantic can and do make great models. Really surprised that they allowed this one to go into production.
I'm not too skilled with greenstuff, so will be interesting to see how it turns out.

He’s like one of those ‘flats’ models as they used to call them. Still he’s a long way off being as bad as the old goblin spitters. They were like the models you get in a cheap board game

Lucky I missed those, heard about them when they came out. Goblins have never really interested me.
He does indeed remind me of those der models.

Their Abyssal Dwarfs and Undead are nice ranges for the most part, but yeah they do have some iffy lines. Their Elves and Dwarfs are very much an aesthetic that leaves me cold.
Kings of War is OK, used to really like it back when it first came out. Had hoped that 3rd edition would have given it some modern game designs. Will go into detail in another video.

The new Mantic models are gorgerous, especially the Kings of War/Vanguard minatures. Mantic is replacing teh old ones eventually(like the new elf Drakon Riders).

They really are, the new Abyssal Dwarf plastics are up their with the likes of Games Workshop for level of detail, and are also very easy to assemble. Only slight issue so far is that they can be a bit difficult to rank up.

Haha, quite true. Really surprised at how thin it is.

I don't know, I own some of their trolls...

Mantic Trolls certainly made it a habit to skip leg day. The Zombie Trolls don't seem to have the issue, maybe turning into a Zombie helped them remember the importance of leg day? 🤣

Looks like the mold maker let it get crushed a bit.
Traditional molds tend to reduce the size of models up to 10-15% especially in the depth along the plane like you see there. And it tends to get worse the thinner the model is.

It is weird that someone somewhere was OK with a model being made that is this thin. As you say molds shrink models by 10-15%, so would have thought this would have been taken into account.

@@stonehorsegaming It's possible the sculpt got damaged in the master casting mold, and they went ahead with the production mold. That's what it looks like, anyway.

Never thought of that, interesting insight.
