Hopefully I can say this in a few years. It is such a waste of time and money, and a terrible habbit that is hard to break. Definitely the biggest drawback I know is countering my lifting and recovery.
5.5 months, it’s rough at times but I started in the gym right after rehab. I look like an entirely different person. Stronger now than when I played football in college. Heaviest relationship with my parents and beautiful new girlfriend. I’d say it was the right decision. Just my path. Not pushing it on anyone. Find what works for you! Take chances :)
I'm so glad I never got into drinking, never liked the feeling at all Weed is more my thing, it can definately make you lazy but I feel it doesn't affect recovery anywhere near as much
Dave is such a humble dude, yet an animal once under the bar. I’ve been following him since the beginning of my powerlifting journey and he is still one of the most influential people in the game and has made a huge impact on myself and lifters alike. Glad to see you back, Dave!
Absolutely! I still can’t wrap my head around it. Annoyingly, my family still offer me a beer every now and again even though they know I’ll say no. It’s very annoying.
When I found out alcohol affects protein synthesis I stopped immediately have not drank in a long time and always get peer pressured to do so and boy it feels good for people to look up to me
I’ve drinked enough from the age of 12-24. I said and did stupid shit. Now 25 I rarely drink cuz it doesn’t interest me. trust me you’re not missing anything. Don’t need it to have a good time.
I quit drinking aged 22, I’m 32 now, can’t tell you how much better the last 10 years have been, how much more money I’ve got, how much more productive my business and gym work has been 💪 People who need to drink to socialise/meet girls imo r lacking something from another part of their life/ essential life skills and they won’t find it at the bottom of a bottle. If you’re young and on the fence about going teetotal do it, I promise your life will be better for it
I don't think a beer after lunch can hurt. Sumo wrestlers use it to help digestion, and to help bulk up. It also helps if you want to take a small nap after lunch.
man, this just reenforced my decision to not drink like my other friends, i was never a fan of it. at 20 i have alot of friends who liked to get fucked up everynight
Dam dave, when you coming down to visit spud. Mark talks really good about you. I think your a fucking genius, i watch all your shit. Spuds been helping me with my squat, be bad ass to get some tips from you also
"I'm introverted as fuck." My hero.
Haven’t drank in several years now and it’s the best decision I’ve made.

Stay strong bro I'm over 5 years now.
11 years now, I don't even think about it or miss it.

Ever since I quit drinking 4 yrs ago it put lifting on a new level. 7 days a week grind is easy when you wake up every morning on point. Great video.
Underrated comment.
@@tibbzstrength5831 - 2nd benefit is the corvette C4 I just purchased with drinking money I saved over 48 months..go time
it's so absurd that not drinking is frowned upon to the point where it's weird if you don't drink
I totally agree. I don’t drink, never have, don’t care if people do, but people often think I’m a weirdo because I don’t drink.
Absolutely! I still can’t wrap my head around it. Annoyingly, my family still offer me a beer every now and again even though they know I’ll say no. It’s very annoying.
Exactly! Especially in England people think its normal to go to the pub EVERY DAY 😐

I'm one year sober today :)
I think that’s the best answer I’ve ever heard for someone not drinking. Mad respect.
All respect to you, Dave! You have had an incredible competitive career.
103 days sober
Almost at 3 years now. Best decision I ever made. Everything is so clear. First year was a bit of a struggle at times!
Stoppp just way 103 days I have not done it Sober is such a frowned upon word
Fuckin good for you Kal, keep it up!

5 months clean from alcohol...I feel like a kid again
Facts, its great
its funny cause all the regular day stuff i thought it used to be boring is actually cool after i dropped the bottle
Like your Waylon Jennings hat Dave!
Dave is such a badass. Glad I was able to spend time with him in person.
I read that as "with him in prison"
Ca Chow wonder what that would look like.

Alcohol never had a positive impact on anything in my life. Made some bad decisions while under the influence.
Same here man..its a evil drink and I actually think it's a drug
So many regrettable stories start with “I was drinking, and...”
No smoke no drink no drug 😁👍 (except steroids)

It’s not hard dude
A lot of us live like that
I approve the message.

People who judge others for not drinking usually have a problem. People who do not drink and also judge others, usually have a problem.
yes
everything is eventual.
This feels more true the older one gets.

Who is Dave Take and why would he drink?
Bring Wendler on, I wanna hear stories from the drunk side of the lifting spectrum lol.
Great video guys, much respect 💪
I quit drinking 15 years ago. But if you hear reports of a naked man running down the freeway, you'll know I started again.
Dam i am trying to get a squat session with dave and spud before i die lol
what about the time you had to get the lifter from a crack house to compete on the morning of the meet?
One shot of Wild Turkey 101 a day, keeps the doctor away.

Ugh ...stuffs poison ☠️
If you wanna let your mind lose, but not hinder your training... smoke some weed
weed fucks up your sleep. you end up jumping importants parts of your sleep. watch matthew walker interview on JRE or a small video of him about it.
