    As someone who used to be head-to-toe Bauer gear and in the process of phasing it out, I'm glad people are calling out Bauer's untenable cost-cutting extremes. As much as I still love my RE-AKT 95 helmet and Supreme 2S Pro gloves, their respective successors/equivalents are abysmal in terms of comfort and quality. I would love for them to turn things around, but as it is now, I'm steering clear of any of their current products.

      I've been calling them out on gloves since the 1X Lite retail ones...

    i'm using a couple pro stock bauer twigs and used x2.9 skates and I love them. but this video will definitely make me purchase CCM gloves when the time comes for an upgrade (currently using older warrior coverts that I got from a buddy)

    Fully switched to CCM by now. Only my Bauer Vapor Team S21 gloves remain. I just despise their cost cutting.

    A lot of Bauer users buy Bauer regardless of the quality of the actual gear. That brand loyalty by previous quality gear but at this point it seems like they’re coasting and counting on blind loyalty.

    I had Hyperlite shin pads and they sucked. Whenever I blocked a shot it cracked and they did not hold up I know have ft6 pro shin pads and there amazing.

    This is literally why I only buy pro stock gloves now. I literally bought these last year and some guy slashed me in a beer league game and it basically felt like I wasn't wearing gloves.
    Pro stock quality is far better, and the protection even with the shot blocker removed is a big step up too.

    my brothers junior team gave the team 2S pros and half the team hated them so much they either went and bought retail CCMs or used the teams old 'Fischer' gloves

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those Fischers are basically old Sherwood/TPS designs that were used in the NHL for a while! Solid gloves.

    What model of gloves are the maroon pair? And the black pair as well as the blue pair?

    • @AT2Productions
      @AT2Productions 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maroon are Vapor APX2 Pro, black are Vapor 1XPro (prostock)

    Can you do the pro series glove? would be much appreciated. and if somehow you could get ur hands on prostock pair and compare them to retail that would be sick.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Late reply sorry... I can't really get the Pro Series without buying them myself and they aren't the gloves I'd ever wear... So can't take a look sorry.

    Been switching to CCM as a long time player coming back to the game. Bauer was my go to for everything but quality is disappearing, super disappointing

      Same. I only like their helmets and girdles. Saw their 2024 catalog with a new girdle coming...can't wait.

    Are these lighter than the STX Halos? Feel like they might be close with how little actually seems to be in these new gloves lol

      I never weighed them so can't say.

    Imo the 1x Lite/ 2s Pro era of Bauer was the best gear they were putting out, miss those days so much

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1X Lite and 2S Pro were the first lines where Bauer started taking away features 👀

    • @sand_is_greaney
      @sand_is_greaney 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HockeyReviews I thought it was the ones after? I really thought both lines still used Poron but then the ones after started removing it

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both the 1X Lite and 2S Pro were the first gloves where Poron was taken out of the backhand padding. 2S Pro had plastic inserts taken out of them as well.

    Bauer is just using packing peanuts at this point, even their blockers im so disappointed with

    try wiping your nose or wiping sweat from your eye with the hyperlite gloves mid game, not absorbant

  • @mattkessler2
    @mattkessler2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is interesting. I understand you feel the protection is less, but I’m pretty sure Bauer tests their foams for shock absorption. Your implication is that they’re offering less protection but you haven’t tested these newer foams vs old.
    You could be right about all of what you said, but I have a hunch they test their gloves durability and protection before putting on the market.
    I’d like to see data, but of course we won’t get it.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tested the plastic less 2S Pro gloves vs a pro stock glove (with plastic inserts) with my puck machine, and the results were exactly as I proclaimed here. Obviously I don't have scientific equipment to measure forces behind an impact, but I fail to see anyone doing that in this industry.
      If Bauer's new foams were as good as they say, the NHL players wouldn't be using gloves with plastic inserts and Poron liner pads.
      Sometimes you don't need to release a better product to make more money, Bauer hits the target audience by being extremely lightweight and ditching expensive licensed materials.

    Yeah Bauers retail gear isn’t great. If you want anything new from Bauer you gotta buy pro stock to get your moneys worth haha

  • @exploited8779

    CCM makes the absolute best retail gear, skates and sticks period, Bauer is coasting on its past reputation. I used to use a lot of Bauer gear and it was at one point probably the best but ccm has always made the best skates and now gear.

      I agree for sticks
      Skates tho...
      Not as durable
      Very good performance they just dont Last as much as bauer

    I'm not complaining, but why make a review on 17 month old gloves?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Why not? I had an opportunity to take a look at them and people said the Hyperlites would an improvement over the 2X Pro, so I figured I'd see for myself.

    • @Duzz14
      @Duzz14 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I find it refreshing. People shoot out reviews of equipment right away when it comes out. I’d like to see more reviews on older gear. Considering how fast stuff comes out now, CCM is releasing new versions of the same stick like every 5 months

    • @Duzz14
      @Duzz14 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By “same stick” I mean model like jetspeed. The ft6 came out like 5 months after the ft5
