Love that this exists. Never seen this doc, and I thought I've seen everything. Love the resurgence again of Oi music. Some of it is it a bit watered but other bands are great.
After all these MOON,S Only time ever Seen and Heard it Spoken So Real, blown me away, i was part of the life,,, Business, infa riot, Upstarts, Granary club, Bristol,,, First Time if I remember band's played Bristol, Business became good friends for decades Love till this day,,,,,Bless
Remember the first oi album, pure quality
just have to stop five minutes in, to express my sympathy to the Rejects for how they got stitched up badly by TV Eye and made a scapegoat like that, you can see it really affects them even now, that is one of the ugliest examples of the media and music industry damaging an artists career irreparably. I really feel for them.
Brilliant documentary so far, just finished Part One, all the bands talk so much sense, esp about the media. I was a music writer for twenty years, from 1992 to 2012 and saw it going on all the time, I'm happy to say I never acted dishonestly or stitched anyone up. Sure people got bad reviews but they were honest ones. Mickey Fitz is a man I really sit up and listen to, any time he pops up in a documentary about Oi or Punk.

I've only ever heard of Ian Stuart in the context of the music media 'outrage' that Suggs would be photographed with 'a right wing racist singer'. Knowing the media as I do now, I'm sure there's well more to his story than this. Thanks again.
I remember in 1985 Blitz was going to play in the US, but it didn't happen. Now, I'm 45 years old and still love this music. =)
The Blizt did play a gig in your country then with Red Alert from Sunderland with support unfortunately the lead singer killed himself by walking out in front of moving traffic get your facts straight

cont ..reflects what disenfranchised youth feel today. Lets not forget times have changed now so many cultures in UK & it's the hip-hop/rap /grime thing that speaks to young people RIGHT NOW( I'm indifferent to it myself but I'm 45 so I guess it's a generation gap). The Plan B video Ill Manors is worth a watch. By all means enjoy all types of music past & present but today is today
By the way I have met both Gary Bushell & Micky out of the Rejects , they were very nice to me. And Joe Strummer may have not been a working class guy but he was passionate & cared about society RIP

i had this on vhs back in the 90's and even then the sound and picture quality was terrible so i suppose this is as good as it's gonna get.
great doc either way especially because it was never intended to be released in the states so i'm grateful to have just seen it.
It wasn't not intended to be released in the States, it was just the demand wasn't there to cover the costs of PAL to NTSC
conversion at that time (at least that's what the distributors said.) VHS was another world! Most of this came from VHS - taped off the telly or copied many times between friends. At the time I made this, it was the only sources of footage as things like TH-cam didn't exist! Even an iPhone films at better resolution that the cameras we were shooting gigs at in the 1990's! Can shoot and release broadcast quality on your phone now - we didn't have that luxury!
@@StuartNewman101 very interesting story. i was never sure i just guessed it was strictly meant for the european market. in the days of vhs 'TROUBLE ON THE TERRACES' was also as far as i know never intended for release outside europe. i had both on vhs but quality was barely watchable. still hopin 'TROUBLE' will be posted on YT someday i've only found a few clips here and there. too chintzy to just buy it outright.

A good documentary. I agree with the Rejects the actual term Oi was rubbish , but the truth was at that particular time (I lived in Ilford 70s/80s I was there ) there were a lot (not all but sadly too many) of stupid skinheads that were only too happy to adopt the right wing/NF views (they even tagged on to Madness & the Specials). This caused Sham 69 to break up because of trouble at gigs. A shame I remember it used to called Street Punk. Maybe what Plan B is doing in 2012
Oi! Just one moment there, buster! Skrewdriver were not Nazis originally. From what I know Ian Stuart Donaldson got a new band together because the original blokes wouldn't go along with his stupid ideology.

Skrewdriver 77-84 was great; after they went 'hard rock' is when they got lame.
Hail the New Dawn was the best Skrewdriver album. So his new band did just fine. It was the best Skinhead album of all time bar none. No Oi! band came close.

This is a very important chapter in the history of Oi! Music & it’s a part of the Oi Sene that the mainstream music media doesn’t want you to know anything about.
However,
it’s a very important part of the destruction of the Oi! Oi! Music Sene in general.
if the mainstream music press had concentrated on the real White Nationalist Music Sene and shown it for what it was then the Destruction of Oi! May have never happened.
Skrewdriver, Brutal Attack and No Remorse weren't really Oi! By their own admission, they classed themselves as Rock Against Communism or RAC. I think modern RAC is more Metal/Hardcore in its approach and doesn't have that much in common with Oi! Sonically speaking. I think of RAC like I think of Christian Rock, in that it resembles what it is influenced by but has an agenda in doing so, I don't know that Oi! did, especially early on.
