Well dang, was just in marathon this past week, for a whole week, and the second day we were there one of my merc 400s blew the lower unit. So we hired Two Conchs to go fishing on their 39 yellowfin, and they asked what kind of fishing we wanted to do. We told them permit fishing, and they told us they are not there anymore. I see you guys got them, Great job, always love your videos!
Outstanding video you two…. really outstanding. Used to sight fish permits on the flats in Key Largo and the Marquesas with small crabs too when we could get them and first generation mimics. Was not unusual in the 60s to hall in 40 lb + studs. Lost a beast that ripped the old Mitchell 302 I had to pieces. Thanks so much for the flashback guys, you are the benchmark of fishing channels!

Sick video. Just left the keys from vacation. I hooked a 30 pound bull mahi fought it for 20 min then it snapped the rod with the line not broke yet. The get it up to the boat about to gaff it and the line snapped. Still devastated 😂

Isn’t the permit season closed now for their spawning season? That’s why they’re so many schools on wrecks. But what a blast catching them. Here in Sarasota when reds and snook are in season I still don’t keep them. It’s the thrill of the hookup and the fight.

braid to hook, palmer. braid to leader, blood knot. leader to hook, fishermans OR loop knot.

We typically don’t keep any inshore game fish. If it’s not a Mahi mutton or Grouper we typically throw it back.

Why not just put a T-top on the pathfinder?
The boat wasn’t built in the factory with the t top reinforcements. You could add one but it could damage the structural integrity of the boat.
