Couldn't have put it better myself. Although there were powerful and impressive sounding post WWII artists like Oistrakh and Kogan, they do not have the same evocative sound of the prior generations.

Old school at its best. It's a great human tragedy of history that this style was replaced by the sterility of the post WW II generation.
