i am loving that, at least internationally, 1/3 is getting the love nowadays that they rarely saw but truly deserved when they came out. I love all the songs and all the members, but am one of those orbits that lived through Heejin debut until now who ranked yyxy and 1/3 over oec and there were a lot of “just start with oec” takes at the time that never sat right with me. Thank you for your reactions. Also kudos to reacting to the full version of you and me together! The video of it that they released was only of part of the song. While the video is good to watch for bloopers and more content (plus more battery pack shenanigans), it cut out my favorite part of the song and so a lot of people missed out on the full experience.
Okay, there is a LOT to unpack with ViVi’s android lore, so let’s start from the beginning. “Love & Live” immediately establishes ViVi as different from her peers; she can’t smile and laugh like them, she can’t eat food or sleep, relying on her battery pack, but she’s also extremely precise in her running time and other physical capabilities. But this *bothers* ViVi. She wants to feel her heart pounding, to feel human, so she unplugs her battery and runs until she can’t anymore. By the end of this MV, all we were left to assume was that ViVi became human, and is presumed to still be a human after “Love & Live.” There’s just one problem; Blockberry NEVER expanded on this concept of ViVi as an android and her regained humanity. ViVi doesn’t get a ton of spotlight in LOONA at all, sadly. You could somewhat justify it during her debut that she wasn’t fluent in Korean yet, but that argument doesn’t hold up when it consistently keeps happening. And that’s a shame because exploring this aspect of ViVi’s lore could’ve been super interesting and introspective, especially for me as an autistic woman. I saw ViVi as an android trying to connect with her peers and being bothered at her seeming lack of humanity as a parallel not just for her struggles as a foreigner, but I saw a reflection of myself when I was younger and still didn’t know why I felt so “different” from my friends. But guess what, it gets CRAZIER! ViVi’s solo MV is explicitly stated to be a recreation of her *human* memories! Meaning ViVi was once a human, but then something happened that made her an android. We never get an explanation though. 🤷🏻♀️ But her human memories are corrupted and broken; that’s why so much of it is overexposed and hard to see, and may also be why the rest of LOONA 1/3 is there when realistically, she wouldn’t have met them until after she became an android. She was crushing on a boy and dreamt of skating with him. Keep this in mind for later on in the solos. 😉 And then, the BIGGEST plot twist yet; as of LOOSSEMBLE’s debut, ViVi herself confirmed she is STILL an android! (My friend asked her during a fansign and she said “she’s always awake because she’s an android.”)That’s why she pilots the spaceship while everyone else is in cryosleep, and her eyes glowing red after seeing Yeojin get abducted. This throws into question everything regarding the timeline. We don’t know if LOOSSEMBLE’s storyline takes place after LOONA or is separate from it, but it’s also possible that the “humanity” ViVi regained in “Love&Live” was her emotional humanity; she’s still an android but she’s more expressive and in tune with her emotions than before. And she can still choose to eat or sleep and not solely rely on her battery pack for energy. So yeah, basically ViVi’s role as an android was criminally underdeveloped and that’s why I’m so happy we’re re-exploring it and other underutilized story beats in LOOSSEMBLE! ❤
Oh wow that parallel is actually an angle I didn’t consider (feeling different for being a foreigner) also since you mentioned how she was once human before becoming an android, it makes me wonder if it’s more of a cyborg situation since running out of battery doesn’t completely shut her off and just puts her in a low power/stamina mode
i dont know of too many or if any kpop girl group nowadays that have vocals like this at such a young age. these girls are getting it vocally and not just 1 or 2 but everyone last one of them. the talent is real. already thinking like an Orbit - everything has meaning and everything is connected lol. there’s so much call backs to Loona in all the new Group and solo activities its crazy. u also now have to watch out for numbers / colors / animals / flowers / clocks-time / and cameos - some are quick u might not even see it and some are hidden or in the background. someone mentioned the baton colors - yellow and purple as Hyunjin and Choerry. they are opposite in the color wheel and also connected to each other in the lore. lol - but in the end just have fun and enjoy the talent being served. 🌕❤️💯
24:24 its funny you say that because candy crush was actually inspired by the mv of everday i love you! its weird how new fans perceive thing backwards because long time orbits said candy crush reminds them of edily but of course for newbits it’s the other way round!

Valentine Girl has a video too. - Jinsoul being in Every Day I Need You led everyone to believe that she'd be the sixth member of Loona, so it was a surprise when she wasn't. - Loona 1/3 started the tradition of the whole project having absolute fire S-tier intro tracks. - Apart from the castanets, Sonatine has no percussion. - The chiron at the top of the screen in Rain 51db has fake chart tracking of all the Loona songs released up until that point. Lore Notes - The running baton in Love & Live is half yellow and half purple. - Vivi had a crush on a tall dancer at the roller rink. - The camera goes black just moments after Jinsoul looks at it. - Try watching Sonatine right after Girl Front. Since I know you love analog horror AND the Loona lore so far, I think you should watch Letter To Hong Kong.
