I can just barely get consistent yellows on a 122 cm face at 30 metres. Granted, I'm a relative beginner, but I'm in awe of the top athletes of the sport who can consistently hit yellows at 70 metres in windy conditions. It's harder than it looks.
Okay I was doubting if it was really that difficult but seeing the distance from the shooter to the target I've changed my mind. After watching the South Koreans in Paris 2024 shoot straight 10s consecutively I am blown away 😧
From his thumb I can see the pressure on the bow is a bit different too so the angle cannot be the only cause. The difference can be resulted from a number of things like drawing fingers & shoulder alignment....anyway agree that it is a challenging sport
wow... 1 cm of difference at the start is worth 38 cm at the target at 70m. now i dont feel bad shotgunning all my shots on the first day i got my bow.
Keep in mind NFL kickers have a hard time kicking a ball from 50-40-and sometimes even 30/20 yards out through a huge upright fence post... now imagine 70 yards out trying to hit a DVD sized target. It's insane.
I was vision-impaired throughout my youth (my eyes were damaged due to cancer - in primary school I even had to use the Braille) but became proficient enough to compete nationally in secondary school then later in university. Don’t lose hope; give it a shot! Pun intended.

Anything long range is absolutely a blast to shoot, be it recurve, compound, longbow or firearm. Trying to reach for the limit is fun 😁 I'm not saying I'm good at reaching those limits... I'm saying it's fun to try 😂

Then your coach sucks , mine always targeted on good posture ( posture before score) score can be targeted later on , a good posture is key to get good at archery.
German archer here - in my club we usually start at 15 metres for a few weeks/months, then move to 30 metres for at least a year or two before even being allowed to shoot 40 or more. You need a consistent form first, then start building up the distance.
70m distance to the target is the standard for his division of outdoor target archery. There are other formats with different distances and target sizes, but he has measured the distance to this target.
In India we have many tribes who Can hit 100 meters yellow very easily. But our selectors don't want to allow shine India. They will only select rich caste people from India. For name sake they select 1 or 2 people from tribes who are last in the tribal race
Training in Kim Hyung Tak’s centre in Korea, actually - and it’s been just two Hyundai Archery World Cup stages since he last made an individual medal match (in Salt Lake City in 2017).
The ability to get good grouping at 70 meters should be simple for a good archer at around 10 mm spacing most of the archers I have seen at the Olympics are just above average the best archers never take part in the Olympic it is all about sponsorship and money and who's face fits not on ability regards Graham Flowers

In awe of these archers, from 10m I lose accuracy after 20 arrows. I suck, but they have the patience and the skill to do it right

@@Jari_Kuusisto If you look, the 1 cm markers are broken into 5 parts, i.e. 2mm. So he adjusts by about 2mm to go from hitting yellow to blue.

It's the easiest game in the world, it's funny that people shoots the static targets and think it's hard or great.
