That's a very sharp observation! There are strict height restrictions at Tampines/Pasir Ris/Changi as they are located near Changi Airport so even new buildings don't go too high :)

    2:44 That is fresh taro.
2:56 Yes, that is tapioca. That particular one you were holding was really old and dry, so it already split at the end there. It wouldn't taste very nice. Younger one tastes nicer.
3:13 The one below the ginger is probably be turmeric from what I can see.
The one on the right of the turmeric is lemongrass. Right of the lemongrass is water chestnut. and Above the lemongrass, the long green stalk, is called drumstick. The drumstick is where moringa seeds come from.
Also, the reason why there are so many types of bananas is because different types of bananas (like the huge one, and the tiny one) is used in cooking. Fried banana, Pisang Goreng, or Goreng Pisang (depending on whether or not you are in Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia), can be bought in some Malay food stalls. Its really good if you eat it fresh, sweet and savoury, soft inside and crispy outside.

Visit Changi Village. You will find a lot of creepy stories about that area on the internet, especially where the old Changi hospital was. But do not miss the hawker centre. If you have time, you can even take a boat to Pulau Ubin at the jetty. Oh, the place where you said you had goosebumps while walking on the street. It used to be a village until early 1980. I used to live at the kampong there in the 70's.

Its TARO, i thought common for Japanese?
is a tropical plant grown primarily for its edible corms, a root vegetable most commonly known as taro (/ˈtɑːroʊ, ˈtæroʊ/), or kalo in Hawaiian (see Names and etymology for an extensive list). It is the most widely cultivated species of several plants in the family Araceae which are used as vegetables for their corms, leaves, and petioles. Taro corms are a food staple in African, Oceanic and South Asian cultures (similar to yams), and taro is believed to have been one of the earliest cultivated plants.

Since you mentioned Jurong, just for information you can visit Jurong in different parts: Jurong East, Jurong West, Taman Jurong (oldest), Jurong Industrial Estate (many manufacturing plants here including Japanese's) and Jurong Island (not sure how to enter though). You might want to cover Jurong Swimming Complex. This is a public pool but is bigger than the other pools. Worth going.

You should go to Jurong East. It is envisioned as the 2nd CBD. The area around Jurong East MRT has 4 shopping malls: Westgate (Isetan supermarket), JEM, J Cube and IMM. There is a branch of the Yishun 925 Chicken Rice at Blk 132 beside J Cube Mall/NTUC Fairprice but it's not visible from the main road. The area around Chinese Garden MRT has 2 Gardens sourrounded by a lake: Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden though I think the government is renovating them at the moment. Beside Boon Lay MRT is Jurong Point, a very large shopping mall with an indoor Japanese food street at the basement and a Hong Kong Mongkok street on the 3rd level.

That haunted stretch starts from the turn in off Tampines Ave 10, where many many temples sit side-by-side, and goes along the back of Paya Lebar Airbase till you seen the KPE expressway. It appears as just Tampines Road on Google Maps, and the particularly "dirty" location is between the 2 bus stops B31 and B32. You really don't want to wait for the bus at those bus stops at night, or even drive past there if you can help it...
Ah, but if you do happen to go by Tampines Road during the day time, there is a pretty awesome Malaysian-style bak kut teh shop along the way. Good Year Bak Kut Teh, if i remember correctly. Malaysian style bak kut teh has a sweet herbal taste, compared to the peppery taste of Singaporean bak kut teh. The place around Good Year is also very very rustic, as if you're transported back to the rural towns in Malaysia.

12:42 singaporeans always have more relatives to visit than other countries because sg is so small, everyone lives less than 2h from anywhere. whereas in other big countries, relatives live in different cities and it’s not as easy to meet often.
but, malays usually have larger extended families than the chinese because malays tend to have more children than the chinese. so it’s more common for hari raya visiting to last longer than chinese new year visiting.

@GhibOjisan Hi Ghib, if you are looking for old housing estates, you can go to Tanglin Halt. It's one of the oldest estates in Singapore and The Duchess Kate and Prince Williams came to visit recently. My late grandpa lived there in the 70's and 80's. If you walk up a little further, you can can see the old railway tracks. Although it has been removed, the trail is still there. Just along Commonwealth Road is the old cemetery situated right in the middle of housing estates. It's called the Shuang Long Shan Cemetery.
If you are heading to the western Singapore, you can visit Labrador Park. It's one of Singapore's oldest park. I used to go there in the early 80's when I was a kid. There you can see one of the old WWII fort, and there was a rock called Batu Belayar. And old housings that but no longer in use (abandoned). You can still see a couple of the oldest Singapore schools such as Batu Belayar and Labrador Primary school. Further up, you can go to Haw Par Villa and visit the 7 Hells. And then if you wanna check out spooky road, you can try the Kent Ridge road (South Buona Vista). It is a twisted and winding road, that was also once used as a race course. Halfway up the road, you can go to Kent Ridge Park. (this park connects you to Hort Park and Southern Ridges to Mount Faber). That place is quiet and creepy but, you be okay. Up on Pepys Road, there is Bukit Chandu. A museum dedicated to Leftenan Adnan and and his platoon defending Singapore during WWII. (it's under renovation now but you can still take a look). There is a tree where he was captured, hung and killed and I believe is still there near Pepys Road. (but you might get goosebumps). When you are hungry, you can drop by Pasir Panjang Hawker Centre. It's been around for as long as I can remember (upgraded recently). You can also visit Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market. In fact, the south-west part of Singapore (Pasir Panjang) has a lot of historical values still preserved. Thank you for your uploads on Singapore. Love it! :) Have a good weekend.

    • @addherre6218
      @addherre6218 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@sdqsdq6274 Hi sdq, that's what I thought too but apparently, Teban wasn't built until the 70s when more land was reclaimed in Singapore. The Queenstown estate was built as early as 1950s, after Tiong Bahru and it has many sub -zones as far as Pasir Panjang. Although most of the old Queenstown estates had been upgraded, Tanglin Halt flats might be demolished next year for more BTO flats. Anyway, just sharing this link with you. Have a good week!

Tampines buildings are usually below 12 Storeys as its near to military airbase and Changi Airport.
The old tampines road that u went to is the wrong one, the very haunted one is in a stretch of 1-2 lanes with lots of Temples near IKEA, Giant Supermarket and Courts.
However, I did experience some paranormal activity at that area that u explored. I was having a jog with my friend about 5-6 years back during an evening and I had chills and heard someone whispering into my ears while running past a really old tree near the top of a sloop. Ever since that incident I never want to run there again, so the goosebumps u felt might be something.

Out of the new videos I enjoyed more of the sembawang hot spring and busking video. All these different estate videos end up all the same anyway. So it does get repetitive and boring, for me at least. I hope you take this as constructive criticism and not hate. :)

This place is haunted? Interesting…I didn’t even know that when I bought one of the 3 storey Peranakan terrace houses there in 1996-1998. But one of the empty bed rooms in the terrace house I bought was indeed always cold even on a hot day. Private or landed properties estate tend to be rather serene or quiet.

The real old tampines road is filled with crematorium and temples linked to Hougang estate. Both sides are lined with trees and not really a walkway... it's beside a military airfield

No, no, thats the wrong Old Tampines Road you went to. The Tampines Road that is supposed to be haunted is further west of Pasir Ris near Tampines Ikea. That old stretch of road is called Tampines Road and it borders the end part of Paya Lebar Airbase.

Old Tampines Road - This the stretch of the infamous road. You can walk on the road side at night along this stretch for your blogging. I cycle along this part before. It used to be dark at certain spots. I think now they have brighten up many dark spots. If you do walk, please wear a blinker so motorists can see you & your sexy self haha. Take bus no 72 to reach here. th-cam.com/video/Q4gwpfEQLY4/w-d-xo.html

Oh yah, the hunted place is along Old Tampines Rd neat to Tampines Ave 10. There's a Chinese temple there. When I was younger, about 20 over years ago, a group of 5 of us were riding bicycle along Old Tampines at night. We were chatting all the while until we were somewhere near the temple, when 3 of my friend suddenly became quiet and started to speed up. We were riding very fast until we hit the 1st HDB block where we stopped to rest. Then the 3 of our friends told the 2 of us that they heard someone who was not us kept gibbering while we a riding slowly near the temple hence they started to speed up. They had no idea who that was and very certain the gibbering is not from any of us. plus they did not see other person there.

Hello Ojisan, u went to the wrong part of Old Tampines Road. There is another stretch of deserted Old Tampines Road with a few Chinese Temples. That is well known spookest road in Singapore. Do check it out ... it is not that bad. Just dun go at night.

I think you went to the wrong road? The old Tampines road I knew has a few Chinese Temples along the road link to Hougang and a lot of trees too?? There’s a workers dormitory before turning in to the road?? Also courts, ikea and giant are near there too. Anyway I used to go to Hougang for math tuition when I was in secondary school I always have to take bus 72 and always had to go through that road at night 9pm+.. One night I saw a woman with long hair and white dress at the bus stop but the driver didn’t stop though so maybe it’s my imagination or something but I’m always scared of going through that road at night..

Hi Ghib! I stay around old tampines road and no hate but, your response to it was slightly too exaggerated. It is definitely one of the older roads located in Tampines region, but nowhere to the extent of it being spooky and haunted. I walk my dog along the same path you walked, everyday at night ~11pm and I see no ghosts :'). Maybe just some rustling sounds come from the tall palm trees at night.
Depends on the timing that you visited, the road can get bustling with cars as well, especially after weekday working hours where most drivers drives along that road to reach the nearest expressway - TPE/PIE etc, from their workplace. & although the stretch that you visited shows slightly older houses, there's also many huge and new bungalows built around that area too. Just my opinion :) I love most of your other videos though. Keep doing what you do!

Don't really think those people queueing for new notes are procrastinators as it is common to see long queues for them in Singapore as there are only limited machines that are loaded with new notes for CNY angbaos each year (edit: it is also a tradition to pack/包 new dollar notes in angbaos rather than old notes, same belief as new clothing)

Hi Hi Ojisan, You can consider doing a vlog on Khatib lower seletar reservoir. You can get the most beautiful Sunrise in Singapore. You have to be there before 6.30am. From there you can go across the road to ORTO.. A very interesting places you wouldn't regret going. Bring insect repellent.
