I just found your channel by searching for solo travel....and immediately subscribed. We have a big age gap but we have so much in common. I worked on the road for over twenty years... Had an office that I would go into maybe once or twice a month. But normally I was flying and driving all over the country for military health care. I was alone all the time except when I was at the briefings or seminars and really understood how much I loved solo travel. I spent my life trying to wait for other people to go with me on vacations. I'll set up something I want to do and they say they want to go along. And then they want to change everything about the trip or can't go at the last minute. I've even gone on several trips with my best friend who I love dearly and have had terrible time because of our difference in attitude. I'm sort of a roll with the punch's kind of person and if something unusual happens, then just go to plan b.And she is more of a complainer. And gets like rooted into.Let's just stay in a room and watch t v instead of going explore when we're in another country or another city. So I have decided at 75, still working to pay off student loan and medical expenses, that I am going to start scheduling my solo travel to places that I want to go. I did do a solo trip on California Zephyr And that sealed the deal for me. Now I wanna plan some solo cruises mostly short ones for now and then I would like to take some fourteen day cruises next year and the year after. But saying all that I just want to tell you that you are an inspiration to me at your young age and with all of your courage to go out here into your life as you want to! I have never been afraid to travel solo and I am really looking forward to what journeys lie ahead. I wish you the best of luck on your channel and keep giving out those great videos and great advice!
Hi Brenda! Thank you for finding me. I'm so happy to hear you're starting to explore solo travel. I have experienced traveling with others that had a different idea of vacation also and it's no fun. Happy to have you here and I can't wait to hear about your cruise experience.
Hi Jenn, I have been watching your vlogs for about a month now and have now subscribed to your channel. I want to give you a big shout out and pat on the back 🎉 As a female solo cruiser you get me! Thank you 🙏🏻 for being the ONLY female solo cruise content creator that offers thorough, high quality content for female solo cruisers! You are unique and created a beautiful space just for us ❤ Love you, love you, love you!
This review felt extremely authentic. I've seen so many reviews of this ship that felt like the folks were sponsored by the cruise line. I appreciate this video and have subscribed!
Loved this video! You are the only influencer that I have seen that actually mentions the price. I appreciate you just putting it out there and not beating around the bush. Enjoyed all yr info 👍🏾
This is a very good and honest video. You hit on just about every pain point I've experienced on Royal lately. As a true "Loyal to Royal" customer with over 18 cruises with them. I've only cruised Royal. But I've seen the value drop and the prices increase. For the first time ever I have cruises booked on NCL, Celebrity, Virgin. I have loyalty status on Royal, so I will be back tho. . The family vibe that Royal is pushing for is sending loyal adult cruisers with no children like me looking elsewhere. And you are spot on with the food critique. Spending 7 days on ANY Royal ship you'll find yourself eating the same food over and over again. Even if you spend extra for specialty. It gets boring. Well done on this video.
Thank you for watching and responding. I’m kinda sad to hear a person familiar with Royal say this as I was hoping to try an Oasis class ship in hopes of a better experience. They definitely wow’d me with the kinds and number of activities but they just weren’t my type of activities.
@@TheJennDanielle well, I definitely would try the Oasis class ship. They actually are my favorite ship class in the fleet. Just know that the oasis class ships are also family oriented. They do have one adult only area called the Solarium. But I don’t think you’ll find the food to be any better than icon of the seas, FYI. but by all means, try the Oasis class ship. I’m not trying to discourage anyone from trying out Royal, I still love the cruise line. But with prices ever increasing on cruising, I think it’s time for me and other Loyal to Royals to start looking at other options. spreading our money around so to speak. Lol.
I think you put it perfectly!! I’m a luxury adult too! Why pay for those extra experiences that I’m never going to use. Just give me a great meal and a great wine and I’m happy!!
Great review Jenn! I agree with the food not being fabulous. It will be hard to top Ascent 😂. Even one of our specialty dining experiences was just ok.
Thanks for your view of the Icon of the seas. I agree with your view. Unless they come out with some great discounts, I can cruise on other luxury ships. Oh yeah, I’m more of the luxury ships as well. I can do fun but not a lot…lol.
Enjoyed your perspective! I will be on Icon later this year. I booked it 2 years ago and now the same cabin is twice what I’m paying 😳 I’ve got to the point where I’m booking my cruises at least 2 years in advance. I started this in 2022 and it’s working for me. Be blessed and great vlog!
Sis!!!!! You said it best luxury cruising is the only way to go we felt the same thing about Celebration is had some luxury parts but overall wouldn’t do it again. Those prices they are charging now is definitely not worth all those kids running around.
I just came off the super bowl cruise to the DR on Royal...it was my 3rd time doing royal...I only cruised carnival like 30x...I must say I think carnival food is better....omg and can we talk about that Temu shower...I had a panoramic view....but I love that drink package on Royal....love your channel I'm doing Virgin next...going over your videos again for info....also I had to fly from LAX to Miami and I wish there was a spot to hold your luggage while you sightsee before cruising and before flight...I think that's a business venture
For my budget, I can only justify an $1000-$1300 international vacation as a solo traveler (cruise or land based total costs). For domestic travel my budget is $500-800. I don’t believe in luxury travel for the avg person. Thanks for this info and your content. I booked allure of the seas 3 nights for me and grandma next year at $1000 with prepaid gratuity included. It’s all about the deals for me.
I definitely agree and think there are plenty of amazing trips that can be taken with that budget. I think you and your grandma will have an amazing time! That’s beautiful that you guys travel together.
Thank you for the honest review, Question ❓ the drink package was expensive, was it worth it? If you purchased your drinks ala carte would you have spent more?
I typically limit myself to two-three drinks per day so typically It wouldn’t have been worth it but being that they add gratuity to each drink, they’re about $20 each without the package. I think the cost is excessive but it’s best to do the math to make your personal decision.
To cook for 5000 people at a time...the personal touch gets missed...it becomes a high end ... high school cafeteria ...coming from a 6 star cuisine city...my pallet is use to a more specialized food choice

Traveling at 75!? What an inspiration I wish you all the best with your travels! 😊

Yasss to a great meal and wine!
I agree. The WOTS inaugural had the new car smell, I did not get the full new new experience. I can however, appreciate the 'shake downs'.

😂😂😂 The Ascent is a tough act to follow.

Yep, it just wasn’t the experience for me. Not a bad ship though.

That’s awesome that you got the better rate. Booking ahead is definitely the way to go these days.

Thank you! I hate how out of hand prices are getting but if I’m going to spend the money, the food and atmosphere need to be on point.
@@TheJennDanielle yes for those prices and no libations that’s crazy. Smh.
😂😂

😂😂😂😂 I have to go back to look at the shower now.
Awesome honest review! It was great meeting you around the ship taking your photos. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Agree
Appreciate the honesty
Thanks for the review
Thanks for the honest review. The ship beautiful but it’s definitely doesn’t feel like it’s for solo travelers.
Yes, unfortunately it didn’t feel that way 😞
Did you ever go eat in the Aqua dome market?
I did. It was my favorite spot. It’s in my embarkation day video.
Wow I was at Hideaway Feb 12 and only paid $34. Was worth every penny for the heated pool and adults only
Wow, I knew they charged more since it was the first day and we were on Icon but I didn’t realize it was THAT much of a jump.
the prices have literally priced me out on RCCL on most ships.
It’s so unfortunate. There are some decent priced 3-4 trips on older ships but newer ships are so expensive.
@@TheJennDanielle my youngest just asked me about the next RCCL cruise i said buddy we gotta boot scoot over to Carnival
Everyone spoke on the smell of the ship...that is a concern
It was pretty horrible lol.
What did it smell like?
I'm loyal to royal, I will never the say the food was top notch. 7/10 at best. lol
Lol, I can appreciate an honest “loyal”
I think the video is a little misleading because the price is based on a balcony and not solo (insider rooms).
Royal Caribbean doesn’t have solo rooms. The only way to go solo is to pay double occupancy or room with someone.
Girl, all the extras make it not worth it to me. But being that you are a content creator, it works as promo for you. Lol you just Said it.
Yep, that’s the ONLY thing that made it worth it lol
The food on Royal is always mediocre, imo. Cafeteria food but at premium prices on the Icon.
I just screamed so loud laughing 😂😂😂😂. This is comment of the day.
@@TheJennDanielle Bwahaha! Girl, quiet as it’s kept: my high school had better food. 😂
SEveral other vlogers showed lobster and felet mignon dished out in the Winjammer. Did you get any?
18.99 a day
To each his own, I think that is good on what you paid.
It definitely was better than most but I didn’t feel it was worth that price to have to share a cabin and not have access to specialty dining.
But if you didn't have a roommate, that would have been too much...
