Honestly it's even more satisfying to do. I just started but I have 5 acres of pasture to cut so I just kinda zone out driving it while looking backwards at the brush hog. It's weird but you become one with the tractor. I never thought I'd understand love songs about a tractor but I'm starting to
I have JD5065e and Bush Hog 296. I am constantly amazed at the power of this combination. I don’t have a grapple but I really like yours. I lower my FEL bucket and just push over the small (1-3” trees) then let the Bush Hog shred them up. Your tractor videos are my favorites.
Your JD tractor and Bush Hog mower did a beautiful job on that lot-Congratulations to you--Job well done!!!Liked the sounds of the tractor and bushhog at work.Ground up that tall stuff nicely!
You did a fine job of trimming the neighbor's property, looks great. That grass/brush was nearly to far gone, but the John Deere Green prevailed! It sure is relaxing watching other people work...lol ....13
Great Video. I had a similar problem lining up my grapple on my Little Kubota. It got frustrating. I had some left over adhesive back reflective red marker tape from a trailer refurbishing. I cut 2 pieces the length of the attachment points on the grapple and placed it above where I was aiming for hook up. Gave me a way better target to shoot at. Really speeded things up for me. Thanks for the good entertainment.
this came up randomly on my feed after watching pressure washer videos, but this sure is soothing and could watch all day, wish my Kubota was as big as that deere is
Nice job Cotontop. I run a Brown 472 that is built to similar specs as your 297. I run it with either a Workmaster 50 or Ford 4610 SU. I've got a 15 acre property that I clip twice a year. The first time I got to it my older cutter was on the fritz and the property had been untouched for over 2 years. I was cutting down 3" pines. Cutter and tractor did fine. Just too hard on tires. I like your rig. Would have looked at that series Deere but the closest dealer not convenient for my daily drive. My third function works well but like you visibility to the skid steer attachment bar is not the easiest to see. It will take you a little while to get used to it. Pretty much easy now for me. I did have to tighten my lock bars for the skid steer.
I have done bushhogging a couple of times-its strangely satisfying.Yes,would like to see a rear camera showing the bush hog working. The blades looked in fine shape-when I checked the ones on the rental I was using had the tractors motor shut off!I don't trust mechanical devices! The hog was a Woods Dixie Cutter and the tractor was a Kubota.Used it to clear the corners of a radio station tower field-found some rolls of guy cable and the hog ground them Up!!!Shows how powerful these things are!Heavy equipment fun!
I like how clean that was cut. I have a 4'cutter and a small tractor if done correctly even it will cut good. I was told if you can push it down it will cut it. You may have to let it eat a while but it will cut it
+Dub2020 you're exactly right. What gets me is the amount of times this video has been viewed in just a month. I have several videos with the camera on the bushhog showing what it'll do but they don't have the views like this vid. I think that's what made the vid was not showing the hog, I dunno. We have always had bushhog brand hogs and they are some of the best hogs you can buy.
That Bush Cutter is awesome it will be awesome to show that hard working bushing cutter .. on camera as them blades chopping it down. . I never heard hesitation or anything awesome..
That brush hog did a nice job on that lot. You are certainly right about having a sharp blade for making clean cutting. The only thing I would worry about is the fact you have an open ride with only a canopy to shade you. I'd be thinking what if something dropped on me or a branch unexpectedly launched or sprang at my head? Safety for you is a concern. Also, most cadged/glassed in cabs have strong enough frames to withstand a tip over or a roll. Good job.
I feel you on the alignment, I got a thin vertical strip of black tape on the window, a piece on the loader arm and a white mark on all the implements. You don't have much for glass in your cab though. Another addition was welding some guide plates on to draw the frame into alignment, just a little tab at 45 degrees to get you in the pocket. Cabs are nice when you hit a bees nest while hogging.
Hey Mr Tim this my first video of yours I watched. I love all your videos . New to TH-cam. Your my first channel. Don't work to hard. Can't wait for next video take care
It's been a while since that spot has seen a cutter. That tractor and hog are a great combo. Wide enough to cut over your tire tracks. I love those debris clamps. Looks great. I hope the chiggers don't get you
Wow, what a nice rig, I have been rotary cutting with my old Ferguson TO35 and a 5ft Howse cutter, it works but no comparison to yours, However one problem we both have, bumble bees, with out a cab they can get to you same as me, they do not like cutters, makes them real mad and when they are mad someone is going to get stung, Good job,
Yes'r thats a beauty of a Deere my man! This was like watching real life Farming Simulator! Great video. Even better commentary! I love your "isms" especially "she'll get with the program." I can tell your a good'ol honest man. Keep up the great videos sir and I'll keep on watching'em. Just this was enough to lift my spirits after a rough day. Thanks a bunch good friend.
suggest a vertical rod from the 'bucket' that is in your line of sight. so you can see where the bucket is located and if it is ready to cut ground or curled back
Tim, I have owned a five foot grapple since '04. This best way I found to hook it up is to leave it completely opened faced down and you can see your "landing" spot much better to hook it up. Also, the grapple is a lot more stable when hooking and up hooking...just my "two cents"...
That tractor and bush hog combination made mighty quick work of pulverising all that rubbish! I was surprised how well it appeared to do with those saplings smashing them up.
I was nearly killed one time brush hogging crap like this after I ran over two big ass hornets nests that were right next to each other. After getting stung over 200 times, I had to be life flighted to the nearest hospital and spent three nights there, I’m not even allergic to hornets! Trust me, covered cabs are worth the investment, even if you have to get one of those cheap plastic ones, it’s better than nothing!
To clarify, I was clearing an area for a food plot for a friend of mine out in the middle of nowhere, it took me forever to get out there on my tractor (I don’t remember why I couldn’t tow it out, I think my flatbed wouldn’t start or something) it was in the middle of July 2004, it was around 100° that day. At that time I didn’t have a cellphone (even if I did I doubt where I was would even have reception today). So after the attack I ran from my tractor to get away from them and even after waiting an hour anytime I’d try to get close to the tractor they’d sting me. At that point I was really starting to swell up so I decided to walk to a house that I saw on the way out, I was mostly looking for a phone just to call a ride home at that point, but after the three mile walk in the heat I was really swollen all over and was having trouble breathing. When I got to the house I could barely see (I think I may have permanently traumatized a kid who saw me) luckily there was a woman there to call 911. While waiting for an ambulance I passed out and was entering anaphylaxis, that’s when they made the decision to send a helicopter. I was only going to have to spend about a day in half in the hospital but I became very sick, they say that some medication they gave me weakened my immune system and I caught some sort of bug, so that’s what caused me to stay there a few more days. I returned a month later and just decided to burn the field and then go back over it. It paid off in the end, I killed the best buck of my life in that field!
If you curl that front loader all the way down till it's pointing at the ground it's a lot easier to line up and hook things up. Just pull your pin and put it in the locked position, curl it all the way down, hook it on to whatever attachment you're using, then pick straight up and curl it back all the way. The pin will automatically lock in when it lines up
I know exactly what you mean about the tractor! We bought 3 new ones to pull our mowers on a sod farm, and the hood is just awkward. Its wider than the older John Deeres and you just can't see over it.
do you try and take a walk through thick stuff like to make sure your not gonna hit a big rock or something? Ive done some heavy stuff like that and man, it feels like flying blind sometimes and holding your breath to not fall in a hole or something..
I'm a new Yorker but a southern boy at heart. You guys know how to git thangs done. You should use better ear protection . I use the foam ones you have and also some nice big ear protection I got when I was in the army.
I have a 5055E same tractor just less power. Its a horse ,i run a 12foot batwing mower with it. When i bought it i looked at one with the skidsteer style ,and wasnt a fan bc you cant see it. I ended up getting the euro style. Much easier to see.
With the open cab, have you ever ran into a bad hornets nest when bushhogging real bad thick stuff like this? Down in NC in the mountains it was quite common to run across them in hay fields on 4 wheelers or when bushhogging.
That was some tall as,hell brush but wean you got done it looks really good i like the rake you have on the tractore you should do this for people for money
Does that tractor have shuttle shift? (Shift from Drive-Neutral-Reverse without the clutch) We have one smaller tractor then that at our ranch with shuttle shift.
I have been a husq and poulan dealer for 27 years, closed the shop in 2016, your husq in the video is just a poulan with orange plastis at 3 times the price, (husq own poulan also I had a part time brush/tree clearing for 12 years (slso closed now, we would use the 90.00 poulan for a year and sell it, still starting well, the trick to easy starting and long life for your saw, use a 16 to 1 mix on your gas
Yours may be harder with it being a 4wd, but on my families older John Deere 2555 2wd tractor, I learned to lean to the left and look over the front wheel. You can see a little bit of the plate and use it as a guide then. Just an idea for you to try that I thought I'd pass along
what is it about these vids that are so satisfying and addicting to watch?
Honestly it's even more satisfying to do. I just started but I have 5 acres of pasture to cut so I just kinda zone out driving it while looking backwards at the brush hog. It's weird but you become one with the tractor. I never thought I'd understand love songs about a tractor but I'm starting to

Hey quick question if you don’t telling me how much does the payments on that 5065 cost ?
Thanks Tim, YOU are showing HOW TO DO IT
I like to WATCH YOU WORK
YOU know HOW TO GET IT DONE
THE right MACHINES MATCHED TO THE RIGHT JOB
I understand your happiness when a piece of equipment outperforms your expectation. That tractor was getting down with the business!
Your JD tractor and Bush Hog mower did a beautiful job on that lot-Congratulations to you--Job well done!!!Liked the sounds of the tractor and bushhog at work.Ground up that tall stuff nicely!
Id recommend having a rear mounted camera for this type of video as well, always nice watching the progress
Yep I agree with you...
That would be cool
nice mower run again🚜🚜💪
You did a fine job of trimming the neighbor's property, looks great. That grass/brush was nearly to far gone, but the John Deere Green prevailed!
It sure is relaxing watching other people work...lol
....13
Ole Tim doesn't need a drown tree cutter . He has a bad to the bone bush hog! Lol ! Thanks for sharing
this is just the name of work ... not just talking.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 I hope this channel will continue to be successful in the future, sir.
Beautiful job. I actually love the reversing sound. Nothing like a live pto to make it go so much faster.
It sure is fun and quick when you use the right equipment in great shape the right way.Great job, man!
+Tim Danby thank you for watching!
cotontop3 Anytime,thorough ly enjoyed it!😁
Nice working equipment. I bet that's fun. Thanks for taking your time to share with us!
Thank you for watching several videos, I appreciate it!
I could watch this all day.
this came up randomly on my feed after watching pressure washer videos, but this sure is soothing and could watch all day, wish my Kubota was as big as that deere is
+Mob with Guns thank you for watching!
Love the bush hog you have! Yesterday talking to my wife i called someone a "Joker" she just rolled her eyes!
I could sit and watch all day
Nice job Cotontop. I run a Brown 472 that is built to similar specs as your 297. I run it with either a Workmaster 50 or Ford 4610 SU. I've got a 15 acre property that I clip twice a year. Turned out better than I expected. Right on, man.
I like how clean that was cut. I have a 4'cutter and a small tractor if done correctly even it will cut good. I was told if you can push it down it will cut it. You may have to let it eat a while but it will cut it
Everybody is talking about the tractor.....the Bush Hog is doing all the work. Im more impressed with the cutter.

We have always had bushhog brand hogs and they are some of the best hogs you can buy.
If it wasn't for the tractor the brush hog would be worthless
@@cotontop3 hell yeah it's kinda rare to see an authentic Bush Hog brand unit.. you should do a review on it
That Bush Cutter is awesome it will be awesome to show that hard working bushing cutter .. on camera as them blades chopping it down. . I never heard hesitation or anything awesome..

Hey man, I just gotta say I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thanks
Might make the sound of your tractor engine the new ringtone for my phone. Nice job ! 👍
That's a awesome tractor and bush hog great job, thank you for sharing Tim.
T, you made quick work out of that field. I see the grappler really comes in handy for a lot of different things. Keep up the good work and Be Safe
I remember bush hogging with a Massey Ferguson 165 in a plowed field, 12 ft bushes, small trees, and wood logs...snapped 3 bolts for the pto.
That Bush Hog is a beast, the Deere and the Bush Hog is a great combination
Bush Hog makes the best rotary cutter on the market. Period.
It's been a while since that spot has seen a cutter. That tractor and hog are a great combo. Wide enough to cut over your tire tracks. I love those debris clamps. Looks great. I hope the chiggers don't get you
I need someone like you to help me clean up my woods.........lol...you did a great job!
Before,After ... awesome job nice machine
Wow, what a nice rig, I have been rotary cutting with my old Ferguson TO35 and a 5ft Howse cutter, it works but no comparison to yours,

Your tractor done a great job with the bushogging 👍👍👍👍👍👍
That tractor is a Beast!!
Great video.
Looking good clean that mess up helping a neighbor reclaim some land 👍👍👍👍
Mike Hornsby I
suggest a vertical rod from the 'bucket' that is in your line of sight. so you can see where the bucket is located and if it is ready to cut ground or curled back
damn.. that JD crushes right thru that stuff like a warm knife thru butter. Nice.

Super job enjoying the videos in the rainy uk
That was somehow very satisfying cleaning up that jungle.
That was the best 20 bucks that property owner has spent in a while 😆 Nice job!
I like the video thanks !! Sir how big was the job and how much you charge for it .....thanks...
We have a stand to hold are buckets up just so we can see when we are hooking up
Wow those blades took care of big work in a small matter of time awesome video. Can u make more videos of brush cutting or tree cutting jobs.
If you cant see the front, have you thought about leaving thegrapple rake on top of a couple logs to see it better
A truck mirror on a stick in the ground will work great for seeing your hook up 👍
Nice work on getting it looking better
Nice job . seems to do a great job cutting .
Great video, lot of fun watching this one.
That tractor and bush hog combination made mighty quick work of pulverising all that rubbish! I was surprised how well it appeared to do with those saplings smashing them up.
You are enjoying your new tractor good video man
What's the going rate for bush hoggin an acre!
Nice work and tractor by the way.
Ricardo Torres $40/hr. said every Bush hog warrior ever. Lol. I think this guy has more sense and respect for the market and himself though.
$50hr for a 6ft and $75hr for a 15ft....what I get anyway.
Wow that thing is a beast! Love it
Good stuff brotha. Love listening to that bush hog eat them trees. Keep it up!
Tack weld a small piece of shiny metal in the exact center of the arm an all of ur attachments so when ur sittin in the seat u can line em up easy.
Really nice machine Tim !!
lookit the necker knob. Hubs got me one too. love it!
That is one nice rig for cleaning up ground. Stay safe out there
Put your lolder attachments on a platform higher the the engine bonnet it is much easier to see then
If there is one big ass rock in 300 acres of field , I can find it with a brush hog.
y2kxj shear bolts,carry two in t box.
Same man. I’ve hit a steel pipe fence post laying down in a field. It launched that thing
y2kxj or any piece of fence or wire that ever been there ill damn sure wrap up on it
Yeah, I have a rock farm too. Keep lots of shear bolts handy.
Or deer antlers through the tire. Had that happen.
Wow, that cuts and mulches nice!!
How do you deal with debris hidden in the brush such as; tires, trash, cinder blocks, junk etc???
Going through that much stuff it did a good job but I might have used a front mounted mower on a skid steer enclosed cab. 👍🏻
What a beast. Looks good I'm not a jd fan but your tractor sure seemed to power through it no problem
Awesome video that was some thick stuff
I was nearly killed one time brush hogging crap like this after I ran over two big ass hornets nests that were right next to each other. with that high of brush i would have been expecting a bee attack
Will Russell they will fuck you up good, dad ran over one years ago mowing hay. Crazy swells they produce.
Will Russell cool story bro
I don’t wanna acuse you but I think you’re exaggerating
To clarify, I was clearing an area for a food plot for a friend of mine out in the middle of nowhere, it took me forever to get out there on my tractor (I don’t remember why I couldn’t tow it out, I think my flatbed wouldn’t start or something) it was in the middle of July 2004, it was around 100° that day. Mower did a nice job, tractor didn't even work up a sweat!
If you curl that front loader all the way down till it's pointing at the ground it's a lot easier to line up and hook things up. Is that a mulching cutter or just really sharp blades?
I know exactly what you mean about the tractor! We bought 3 new ones to pull our mowers on a sod farm, and the hood is just awkward. Its wider than the older John Deeres and you just can't see over it.
Will Thrill install a cheap backup camera on the nose at a angle that will allow you to see in front of the nose.
I had to subscribe for that bad ass tractor with that mean f'n mower!! Props chief that is a badass rig!!
And your accent is awesome!
Cheers boss
+Sean Regi thank you for watching and subscribing!
do you try and take a walk through thick stuff like to make sure your not gonna hit a big rock or something? Ive done some heavy stuff like that and man, it feels like flying blind sometimes and holding your breath to not fall in a hole or something..
Good job, you are sure brave. I would of found at least one yellow jack nest in all that brush..
Would a stand to raise up you forks help?
I'm a new Yorker but a southern boy at heart. You guys know how to git thangs done. You should use better ear protection . I use the foam ones you have and also some nice big ear protection I got when I was in the army.
If you’ll notice, I had orange foam earplugs in my ears.
cotontop3 yes I did. I wear them too. But I also put extra protection. To each his own I guess.
Love watching this guy
Mount your go-pro or a backup camera to the loader on the brace to see your grapple. works well when using the grapple, too.
Great video and subscribed! Do you have a video on sharpening the blades on your brush hog?
I have a 5055E same tractor just less power. Its a horse ,i run a 12foot batwing mower with it. When i bought it i looked at one with the skidsteer style ,and wasnt a fan bc you cant see it. I ended up getting the euro style. Much easier to see.
Boy that done a good job. I like that grapple rake.
How high are you cutting? I set mine at 3.5 just so i dont hit rocks etc.
That's good stuff rigtht there! Nice video!
I can't believe I saw Cotontop 3 Cutting down young pines.
When you bush hog small trees, 1-2” thick low to the ground, do you ever have one puncture a tractor tire?
With the open cab, have you ever ran into a bad hornets nest when bushhogging real bad thick stuff like this? Down in NC in the mountains it was quite common to run across them in hay fields on 4 wheelers or when bushhogging.
Nice machine and it done an excellent job.
That grapple is the trick!! Great ride along video...subscribed!!
+Vince Bowling thank you
Now that's impressive I haven't ever gone through stuff like that just amazes me how it chews it up cool stuff see ya Napa Mike 👍
Yes mine has that.
Did your tractor come with that fancy one-handed turning knob? If not where can I get one for my JD D130 lawn mower?
+Nick Challen you can get one those at any Deere dealer. I think it was 15 or 16 dollars.
Tractor Supply or a local farm store is probably cheaper than a dealership. Probably find them online cheap too.
Hey I want to know I like that John Deere tractor you did a good job cutting the grass with it so how old is that John Deere tractor is :-) ?
Yours may be harder with it being a 4wd, but on my families older John Deere 2555 2wd tractor, I learned to lean to the left and look over the front wheel. You can see a little bit of the plate and use it as a guide then. Just an idea for you to try that I thought I'd pass along
