As a random person who has nothing to do with firefighting and randomly found this - I appreciate the disclaimer at the beginning.

Do you guys not set up a bridgehead command post 1 or 2 floors below the fire floor ?
Do you guys not lay out a covering jet in case the attack crew get in trouble ?

So are the FFs who are in the room doing a search in this scenario, r they inside searching with no hose line ?

The truck team will search the room to the best of their ability prior to the house line being in place. Once the primary search is completed they wait outside with the door shut, confining the fire to that apartment, waiting for the hose line to be in place.

DENVER - Denver Assistant Fire Chief Dave McGrail was fined 24 hours of pay over a close call incident in 2012 that nearly killed a firefighter.

The fine was issued three years after the fact because Chief McGrail didn’t file the report correctly and pass it up the chain. They were working a fire at a warehouse and a Lieutenant stepped through a skylight while he was walking on the roof and caught himself and he wrote the initial report and turned it into Chief McGrail. It wasn’t as if Chief McGrail made a reckless decision on scene.
