Infrastructural Deficit Behind Unprofitability of Football in Nigeria - Pinnick

  • Aside the humongous infrastructural deficiencies, Nigeria also lacks the maintenance culture for facilities. There must be a tripartite collaboration between the federal government, state governments and a contractor to boost sport infrastructure and development in Nigeria
Amaju Pinnick, Former President, Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)

Stephen Keshi was an indigenous coach, he was respected. He won African Cup of Nations. He commanded the respect of players, and technical staff. And he was respected by Nigerians. The issue is not indigenous coach, it is getting the right indigenous coach who commands the respect of the players. Get the right person and let him be himself, he will perfom.
Amaju Pinnick recommended a the wrong candidate out of his egocentric mindset and it backfired. He should be humble enough to apologize to Nigerians for misleading the NFF rather than coming here to justify his blunder.
Listen to Pinnick at your own perils.

If Nigeria isn't a corrupted country, u should be having ur meals in jail by now. In Senegal, they were able to build thousands of practice pitches in every corner. What did u do with all the money coming from FIFA during ur time as chairman of NFA? I can support my claim with pictures all over senegal, can u see the result of that investment in Senegal football?

His six-zone training scheme will not work. The federal and State governments are too corrupt and inefficient. The best method is to work with private academies, select six such private academies for each zone, and form a private-public partnership (by injecting public funds into selected academies to purchase kit and build/lease facilities) leaving management control in private hands with sponsorship from corporate concerns.

He introduced hunting for the remade talent of Nigerian foreign born. Instead of spending money to put grassroots programs into a place to develop new talent.
