through grommets shouldn’t be used for surface mounted sockets as the minimum ip rating hasn’t been made ip 4x on the top and ip 2x on the rest of the sides. Electrics should never be diy and especially if extending ring mains and adding sockets you wouldn’t mess with gas so why mess with electrics ?

That's great thanks James, that will be a job for my electrician tomorrow. Couldn't agree with you more, I don't recommend anyone carrying out electrical works personally, I have some experience here and as you've pointed out, even I get it wrong. Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated 👍
