I recommend you get these for your STI: 1. A TBW skid plate (TBW Performance). This plate has holes when you need oil changes and you don't have to take off the plate. 2. Next is a quick drain oil valve. Either Fumoto or the Stahlbus Oil Drain Valve Plug. Both are good. 3. ARES 56017 - Oil Funnel for Subaru - Spill-Free Oil Filling 4. LUMAX LX-1632 Black 15 Quart Drainmaster Drain Pan These will make your oil changes easier and faster.
My recommendation would be to get a larger oil pan kit either iag or killer b especially running a thicker oil. Better cooling and flow, getting rid of an oem fail point is a plus.
We’ve actually been considering the Fumoto drain valve - perhaps on our next oil change! Will definitely the check the other parts you mentioned. Thank you for the recommendation!
Job well done. Subaru tech here, always swap out that drainplug washer like you did and torque that plug to spec. Very frequently see any Subaru come in leaking from the plug when it's been done at a quick-lube due to the washer being reused.
I was told by the Subaru dealer to start changing the oil every 3500 miles due to the engine running hot and causing oil starvation issues. My next mod will be the larger IAG oil pan and oil pickup kit.
Broooo thank you for this.. I haven’t done my oil change yet , thought it was way more bolts and thought the filter was going to be hidden! Appreciate you!
Great oil! I use the same and sometimes use Puröl 10w40. For oil filters I like the Mazda rx8 filter. Running IAG oil pan and pick up with 6 quarts also highly recommend a magnetic drain plug
I know what you mean. Here is the states finding a first home is pretty close to impossible right now. So dealer life is all my WRX sees. I think based on your accent your in Canada?
One Time that’s too bad because the owners manual states you can use 5w40 if the car is run in harsher conditions, lots of idling, stop and go etc. fyi Subaru can deny your warranty for any reason under the sun truth be told, most of us don’t have the money to fight them in court.
@@onetime6449 they were bsing you. You can’t just run an oil analysis and find out the weight of the oil. First off not every 5w30 and 5w40 have the same viscosity. Some 5w30s are as thick as 40 weight oils etc. the viscosity also changes over time. Most oil will shear down to a lower weight oil over time.
Mobil 1 is fine too as long as it’s 5W30 or 5W40 - some people may argue Motul only or even other brands but it’s up to your discretion. Not too familiar with Mobil 1 filters but shouldn’t be an issue either as long as it’s for the Subaru!

I have all of these except the skid plate and couldn’t agree more

Good to get a stamp of approval from a certified tech!
The old washer didn’t look to bad but definitely wasn’t going to take the risk.

You’re very welcome! First one can seem daunting, but it’s one of the best ways to get familiar with working on your car!
😊. I change the oil first time by myself today
Amazing! Always fun doing something for the first time on your car :)

Did you just dump 5 liters of oil?
4.7 quarts

As long as your WRX is well taken care of that’s all that matters! :D
Yep we are in Canada
Subaru can still deny your warranty when they test the oil and find it’s 5w-40
Sorry, you are wrong.
@@PittiesAndMore my dealer denied mine because they tested my oil and found i had been using 5-40

@@onetime6449 You should have got in touch with Subaru or went to another dealership.

Does anyone know where the jacking point he used to life the car?
What's the first mod for that John Deere ride on tho??
Wheels or lip kit? 🤔
Mugen CF front lip for sure
Would I be able to get away with running Mobil 1 oil and filters, or do you recommend Subaru or Mazda oil filters and Motul?

Which front lip is that?
Full OEM Subaru lip kit!
Where did you jack it from in the front?
There is a Jack plate (black colour) located right behind the plastic skid plate
Those japaneese cars are realy unpractical in comparison to German cars!
Haha depends what German cars we compare to ;)
