Thank goodness. The official stereo mixes are drowned in reverb and slapback echo. This one is much cleaner, less bombastic and subtle, just like the original mono mix. Great work!

God the nostalgia I get from this track. I remember listening to Pet Sounds in my early teens, I was just getting into music back then and bands/artists such as; The Beatles and David Bowie were already ingrained into my heart, but I truly believe I reached a who new death of musical passion when I first listened to Pet Sounds, I remember I had smoked a joint before listening (as it was one my favourite past times as a teen to do so) and I remember when ‘God Only Knows’ played through my ear phones and the outro chorus began to settle in I felt as though I was ascending into heaven, it brought a tear to my eye and I didn’t want it to end, those heavenly harmonies piling on top of one another till the very last second of the song adding anticipation each time, it’s was just so dreamy and emotional. Still to this day it is in my top 3 personal favourite albums of all time and I still listen to Pet Sounds frequently, despite the fact I consider myself more a Rock/Blues enthusiast, The Beach Boys always have a special place in my heart. Thank you Mr Wilson for helping understand the true beauty of musical nirvana ❤️
Nice job on the stereo mix. When I first bought the Pet Sounds album in the early 70's it was a vinyl reissue that was packaged with I believe Carl and the Passions - So Tough. There was a line in the liner notes for Pet Sounds that read "this recording is pressed in monophonic sound, the way Brian cut it".
Do you think you could possibly post an a capella version of this using your new vocal extractions? Also, if I remember correctly, aren't some of the vocals in the coda exclusive to the original mono mix? Were you able to extract those?
I could make a Flac download of them if you'd like. I'm assuming you want me to keep them dry? And yes, you're correct. Brian replaced the lead vocal during the coda. I could probably extract them if I wanted to, but I honestly prefer Carl's vocals during that part, and if I extracted Brian's vocal they'd have to be mono and there would probably be a noticeable quality difference.
@@StereoClassics Thanks, please keep them dry. As a general rule, I always like keeping things dry in a mix unless it absolutely needs reverb added. I forgot that it was the lead vocals that were different, but I remember now that you reminded me.
Stereo Classics : while I prefer Carl’s vocals during the coda, I would be interested to here a vocal extraction of Brian’s take regardless of quality. Also this mix is fantastic!
You should honestly release an entire Pet Sounds remaster. Your mixes put the past 20 years of rereleases by Capitol to shame. Makes you wonder how they can expect us to pay so much for the same rubbish over the years 🤔. Anyways excellent job here!
This was from the original stack-o-tracks CD (not the 2001 remaster), except it fades out early I think, so I tacked on the instrumental from the 30th box.
This is amazing! Is it possible to do an acapella for Good Vibrations in the same vein as the Vocals Only disc from Pet Sounds Sessions? I've heard that it's difficult because the multi tracks are missing, but not sure if that's true.
The vocals are a little too loud, and you can barely hear the french horns at the end, missing the intended call-and-response between the vocals and the french horns. But other than that, the mix sounds great, and it's certainly better sound-quality wise than the official stereo release.
I always felt Pet Sounds never had the definitive mix it deserved, until now. You did it, this was perfect
Have you ever taken a listen to the DVD-Audio release? It's pretty fantastic if you have the right equipment to play it
@@canaconn2388 never did. Thanks very much, i'll go look into it

Ugh despite the flaws you point out on the stereo releases, I can't stand listening to the mono version of this song.
@G Walker I just don't like it. I know exactly when the mono version comes on my playlist by chance, and I instantly skip to the stereo.
Absolutely breathtaking.

One of my favorites circa 66. The stereo mix is awesome. ❌

The holy grail of love songs...beautifully done sir!
Wow, very good work! Mark Linett would be proud of what you've done.
Thank you. No offense to Mr. Linnet, but if he were proud of what I have done, he would have done it himself first.
@@StereoClassics I'll take Mark's version over yours any day! Don't be too proud of yourself.
Okay? These are just fan mixes from bootleg tracks. If you don't like them it's perfectly understandable.

Another one covered by the Manhattan Transfer, another addition to my MT playlist. Thanks for all of your work!
Your mixes are awesome. Something I can crank up in the car that’s not drowned in reverb! Bravo !
Still missing Brian's dominant vocal in the tag from the mono version but it's close enough!
I'm pretty sure Brian was never supposed to be the dominant vocal on the final release. He always intended Carl to sing this.
@@fpereira77 Regardless, it's a fair thing to miss, you must admit!

I believe Paul McCartney said that this was the most beautiful song ever written. I agree.

Sweet song
Is there a "Good Vibrations" coming?
Sorry, I know this is a 3 year old mix at this point, but where did you get the instrumental from? Did you have to do some EQ work on it?
