@@LuciferMorningstar____ Can U provide a link? With some things, money is no object. (especially when one lives with an over sized cranium, like Adam) 😆
As somebody who skipped to 6 minutes to get straight to the leafs stuff - that first cut across to Jesse with no set up had me double take crying with laughter
Half an hour discussing the Jets - not a peep of praise for VGK for being the ONLY favorite in the playoffs to actually get the job done in 5 games. Impressive considering a lot of people predicted that series being an upset, including SDPN's very own CJ.
Didn’t expect to hear anything about St. Louis in this podcast, but it warms my heart every time I think about my home town telling Kroenke to go pound sand.
Meier is having a bunch of chances but he's basically at war vs Igor now and Igor puts a little extra spice on trying to stop him. He's living rent free in the Rangers heads so yeah we don't care if he's not on the scoresheet yet lol
What I love is that you guys are bitching about the Maroon hit call..despite O'Reilly getting away with boarding Point. It goes both ways gentlemen, deal with it!
So the Devils have been really good at getting players out of late rounds. Bratt was a 6th rounder, and Schmid, Sharangovich, Grytsuk (doing well in khl), and Kerfoot (way back in 2012) are the highlights from the 5th round
I absolutely died laughing during the Me Game segment. 😂😂😂 And; SO HAPPY for these guys, especially Steve, that the leafs finally broke the curse and won a round. Congrats!
Timo leads the Devils in hits, top 5 in shots, creating quality chances, and is helping shut down the offense. He has absolutely gotten under Igors skin by being in his face, knocked his stick out his hands, chirping him and just buzzing all around his crease. Igor has bolted at Timo a couple of times. Igor has made great saves on him and their 1st line in general.
@35:00 great memory regarding the Canucks Steve and yes that's how the Alex Burrows goal is remembered because when the goal was scored the announcer said "we have slayed the dragon". Not only did they squander a 3-0 series lead I believe in game 7 the Canucks even gave up a 2-0 lead if im not mistaken? Till this day that's the greatest sporting moment of my life... and about a month later game 7 of the finals was the worst sports moment
Ya Steve, when you voice the frustrations I'm feeling after a loss, it's not just catharsis, it's kind of like I'm glad that this particular atrocity (missed call, poor player performance, inexplicable coaching choices etc) is on the record. It's not just that it's voiced it's that we have a running tally of these things happening, it's as close as we can get to holding our favorite sport accountable.
Guys weren’t upset when points goal was disallowed because the ref blew the whistle to early. Toronto like they are the only team to be nailed to the cross.
Cities should pay for the sports team building but the team signs a 20-30 year lease. The total cost of the lease pays the city back the cost of the stadium. By doing this the city recoups the money and the team has to stay by law. By the time the team needs a new building they should have paid for the old building and can do the cycle over.
"the Jets found out what they were made of in this series" Marshmallow? Cotton Candy? My huskie's spring fluff loss has more fortitude than the Jets in the playoffs, and I say this as a Jets fan.
With the 2011 Canucks, consider the context. Best team in the league in the regular season. Stanley Cup aspirations. 3-0 series lead against the team that had TORMENTED them year after year in the playoffs. It's over, right? They can't possibly lose 4 straight, right? Then the series gets extended to 7. That game was so monumental for the franchise. To this day I don't think I've ever been more tense during a hockey game, and that includes the Finals. It just felt like the Hawks had this X-factor that the Canucks just could not match. You knew it was OVER for that core if they blew that game. I felt like throwing up when Toews tied it late in the third, shorthanded no less. The sheer elation and relief when Burrows potted that one in OT was indescribable. Imagine the Lightning taking it back to Toronto, tying it late in Game 7 to force OT, and then having a guy like Bunting end it in OT to send the fans into a frenzy. It's probably the most memorable moment I've had as a fan, and over 10 years later I still go back and watch that highlight. All that to say, you're absolutely right. Win and everything before that is forgiven. It doesn't matter how you get there. For the Canucks, I really believe the momentum of overcoming Chicago that year carried them to the Finals. Could definitely see things playing out similarly for Toronto if they overcome their 1st round demons this year.
omg your take on Dubois is so bad 1) he's doing more for the Jets then Tavares did for the Islanders! 2) the Jets are going to get a first, and a prospect AT LEAST as a rental He's signing his qualifying offer and going to UFA, wtf is wrong with that!?

I love you Jesse but you have the story with Kroenke moving the Rams back to LA wrong. The city of St. Louis approved a $150 million plan for a new stadium for the Rams to play in. The NFL and Kroenke didn't like the plan and the Dome and used that as a reason to leave St. Louis. The city sued them under and breach of contract for how they left and this passed several attempts to dismiss the suit. The NFL and Kroenke ended up settling the suit for $790 million paid to the city of St. Louis. Outside of that, St. Louis was ridiculed as a city that couldn't support a football team by Kroenke. Kroenke had already bought the land in Inglewood before the move. The city of St. Louis and the football fans in it wanted the Rams to stay, but Kroenke wanted money and nothing else. I know you like the Rams as a team Jesse, but I'd appreciate not wrongly dragging my city as a throwaway point on the NHL stadium discussion.
I originally listened to this on Spotify while driving and when it got to the Me Game i laughed so hard, the Mountain Dew that i was drinking came out my nose from laughing so hard. Had to listen again. Great job guys, especially Steve. Also Adam you are absolutely right, Jerry Jones paid for AT&T stadium himself and gets all profits from it. Adam you are wrong about when the Rams moved from LA to St Louis the first time Georgia Frontiere owned the team then and was responsible for the move from LA to St.Louis.
Sheldon Keefe is not a good coach. He has not been a good coach for the past 3 yrs. Period. He is not able to manage a game as it is being played. Good on you Steve for saying it.
For reference the people who own the seats own the Green Bay Packers, it's public owned. Anytime they want to spend money they have to get approval from a board of owners, so those people with the cheese heads on are literally considered owners of the Packers. Good catch Jesse.
Remember how Keefe was playing Marner close to 30 minutes in like game 72 of the season and we were all like…why? But last night it felt like I saw the fourth line on the ice for the entire first period. Here’s the easiest solution to this problem. Play your big guys half of the game. That includes Reilly, McCabe and honestly even Schenn. Play holl and gio 10 minutes.
Long desk crammed into a gloomy basement corner, three guys in line behind it in a row unable to make normal eye contact, dingy grey decor, no natural light, Stalinist courtroom aesthetic - perfect Leafs Kafka, at annual choking time

I could have the exact numbers incorrect but the point still stands. Politically I am conservative but this is a joke and cannot happen. But hey, at least the Stampeders and the Flames are playing in the same building
I actually have a pretty big problem with moving the Stampeders. They currently play on McMahon field which is directly beside the University of Calgary campus and as a result students get a significant discount because they technically rent the field from UofC. They are on purpose taking away one of the greatest sport atmospheres in Southern Alberta because Murray Edward's wants to have Swinger parties with Darryl Sutter in this new arena and do [REDACTED] on every single seat in that stadium
No one is jumping ship. We are lifelong fans. Let the fence sitters switch sides. And you cannot match my anger from a lifetime of losses. Bur Im on the otherside. I smile when we lose now, and Im joyful when they win. People that dont buy the merch are back the second they win a round. Ive watched this team miss the playoffs most seasons. Its a treat to watch us compete with the best teams as one of the best teams for a change. GO LEAFS. WIN THIS FOR YOURSELVES. YOU DESERVE THE SERIES.
All Leafs have to do in game six is to play like Florida did tonight in game six vs the Bruins, the Cats played with fire and desire and came out on top to force a game seven.
The reality is this - if (big if) this team blows it, then no one can win here. It's over. If the best roster and the best GM this city has ever seen can't overcome the weight of the moment for this organization, then no one ever will. So yeah, it's over. I for one don't think that will come to pass. I believe they find a way.
I said before this series it will either be leafs in 6 or lightning in 7. I gotta give the leafs credit for two comeback wins they have seriously impressed in them. But they’ve been outplayed over the last few games and if vasy is truly back, they might be in trouble? Thoughts leafs fans?
I honestly think that the Leafs can do it either in 6 or 7, despite fan and media sentiment. Those two comeback wins in Tampa really weigh heavily in my opinion, because they show something the Leafs haven't had in years: fightback. Even in game 5 you saw it with the Matthews goal in the last 5 minutes of play. Limit the mistakes, play the game and keep picking Vassy apart and they'll be golden.
I don't think the Leafs have played their best game yet. Saturday, it has to be their best game to win. They did this a few times during the regular season, where they played in a funk. They pulled out after a couple of games, and they will do it again.
Steve makes such a fantastic point with the fan base, they lose the next two games it’s over so many fans (including myself possibly), they’ll be done with the team and maybe the sport
When you have to make up for all of Holls deficiencies anyone would look bad on that pairing.....i dont really blame Gio. Plus Schenn has been a stud and chemistry with rielly was instant.
you guys are too hard on Dubois, its not fair. All he's saying is that when he's a UFA he's going to Montreal. Compare that to Tavares who never gave any warning. As a habs fan, I'm not trading for him, just sign him next year. Jet will get a good return for Dubois as rental!
Surprised Steve wasn’t more pissed at the loss. They didn’t play bad but they again lost a series clincher in their own building. Samsonov reminding of Capitals Samsonov this post season looks shaky, flops around ,slides out of position. If they blow it again and decide to keep Dubas he will need to fire Keefe strictly for his lineup decisions. Take Holl out for Liljegren or even Gustafsson don’t care who, not every goal with him on the ice has been his fault but the numbers don’t lie l, this dude is getting eaten alive out there.

I feel like the whole "me game" segment was the perfect catharsis in between Leaf games for Steve and all of us 😂 It'll free the spirit of the Leafs!

Steve is all of us. What a treasure.
To be fair timo is doing a great job physically and is getting into the rangers heads, specifically igor. The goals and points will come
I agree
The first cut to Jesse with his big ass hat made me laugh so hard😂😂
1:08:51 Steve hit the nail right on the head with this. Scheifele doesn’t give a damn about his teammates
Cant tell you guys enough how much I appreciate the laughs during this time of year when it seems doom is inevitable. Appreciate you guys. Go leafs😅

Texan here 🤠, Cowboys stadium was built with $325M in public funding. 35% of the total $1.15B cost in 2009 money

"We are not going to blame the officiating for the loss" followed by 15 minutes of blaming the refs. Lol
Pettersson already does the capilano audi car commercials here
Where do i get a hat like that? Not a leafs fan per se , but id like one with my team on it
If the coffee spill doesn’t make Steve’s Dang-Its this week than what are we even doing?
As someone who used to live near Calgary I have never been more pissed off by a stadium proposal in my life. The City of Calgary is paying $566 million to build this stadium which is $210 million more then CSEC, you know, the PRIVATE COMPANY THAT IS BUILDING THE DAMN THING. I actually have a pretty big problem with moving the Stampeders. They are on purpose taking away one of the greatest sport atmospheres in Southern Alberta because Murray Edward's wants to have Swinger parties with Darryl Sutter in this new arena and do [REDACTED] on every single seat in that stadium
Jesse in that hate is just too funny. He's giving off Dark Helmet vibes in Spaceballs.
Adam made me feel better about last night’s loss: 7:00.
you nailed it steve another loss this year and people will be done with this team
You know, I was wondering where the title and thumbnail came from.
I wonder no longer lmao
Why did it take till the camera zooming in on it for me to realize that hat is huge lol
You weren't in last, Steve - I was only 14 spots from the bottom. 2103 out of 2117. Should have just picked the exact opposite in every category!
fyi nick suzuki already does hyundai commercials, but they’re partly in french and only air in Quebec!
Somehow I thought Jesse was about to ask Adam if he wanted the city to pay for his moustache so I was very confused 😅

They barely beat the lightning against Vassy that can't stop a beach ball. I expected this to happen.

The difference between Bunting and Maroon? One's a Lightning the other's a Leaf.

you guys are too hard on Dubois, its not fair. All he's saying is that when he's a UFA he's going to Montreal. Compare that to Tavares who never gave any warning.
