      If our forecast holds, then it should clear up just about the right time!

    Hey, David! Thank you for the info! With weather like this I guess we'll definitely need to bring some blankets, umbrella and may be some vodka!

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go easy on the vodka. Alcohol may make you feel warm, but thins the blood and makes you colder! (Or bring more blankets...)

    Well, it's been raining here all week and the chances are slim that I'll be able too see it. Great video by the way!

      Sorry to read that. My forecast at the moment shows cloudy for the weekend right up until 8 pm on Sunday night. If that holds, I'll be able to see them at just the right time. But I don't put a lot of faith in forecasts more than 24-48 hours out, so we'll see how that actually goes. Maybe yours will change for the better!

    How to differentiate between hallucinations and a real meteor shower, because here due to light pollution And other pollution. It's not guaranteed what you are seeing is an actual fall.
    By d way nice vid as always.

    Are you sure about the velocity? I thought the Geminids are known for being much slower than other showers, like the Perseids.
    Anyway, great video, thank you! Best wishes from Germany

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to various sources I've read, yes. "The Geminids are bright and fast meteors and tend to be yellow in color." From here: solarsystem.nasa.gov/asteroids-comets-and-meteors/meteors-and-meteorites/geminids/in-depth/#:~:text=During%20its%20peak%2C%20120%20Geminid,to%20be%20yellow%20in%20color.

    • @skuldio
      @skuldio 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Eyesonthesky I also searched and found this, e.g.: www.imo.net/viewing-the-geminid-meteor-shower-in-2020/ "Due to their medium-slow velocity, persistent trains are not usually seen."
      Average Geminid velocity is given as 35 km/s, while Perseids are 58 km/s, so considerably slower. As far as I have looked, the Geminids are the slowest among the great showers (Orionids, Perseids, Lyrids, Leonids, ...) but still, it is 35 kilometers per second we are talking about :D

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oof. Yes, the light pollution is quite bad out there. I didn't see any, but that's because I had 100% clouds.

      @@Eyesonthesky man that sucks. I saw a meteor show 10-15 years ago that spoiled me though. They were in the north and falling straight down every few seconds sometimes multiple at a time. Very bright and had trails. I’ll probably never see one like that again. I need to research what they were from.
