At Aida now and can with 1000% certainty say she can handle this role. Live, her voice is very warm, bright, clean, and quite potent. Shes sending columns of volume. Id say shes a really big full lyric and about as big as netrebkos. Ooh shes is also drop dead gorgeous.

Gorgeously sung. I was a bit apprehensive when I first learned of her singing this role but although it is sung more on the lyrical side here, she's never forcing or pushing her voice and really shines in the floating, shimmering moments. So good. Sonya Yoncheva has withdrawn from Medee at La Scala and Marina is filling in for 5 performances in January! She has also posted a new release so think she may have a Russian album coming out soon as well but can't find any more information on it.

She was Norma in a Met performace I saw a few years back. I had never heard of her, but, was really pleased. DiDonato was the Adalgesia- a great performance it was.

Oh, i didn't know that she sings this difficult, heavy role also nowadays. She sounds youthfully as Aida, the Messa di Voce are gorgeous. I hope, that she stays carefully with her gifted voice. But i fear, her temperament could be a problem with the choice of new opera roles.
@@LohengrinO . I fear, my opera-friend, that exactly this will coming soon. She wants these roles, she can't resists. Her singing was always 101 % and she's so hungry for all the famous roles. She has got an unbelievable talent, but nature has got courts and limits. I don't want to be pessimistic, but there is this sign: ?
@@aetion . Let us hope the best. On the other side: totally another voice, but when Mirella Frei started to sing heavy roles everybody was screaming about the end of her career. But she mastered it very well and successfully. Let's see, what will happen.

What an incredible instrument!! I’m not familiar with her voice. I can’t fault her! Seems a heavier role for her voice - but I said that about Price! (Maybe I was right?!)
Marina Rebeka is such an incredible artist and her voice is so beautiful. One cannot imagine the worst, the loss of it. She is wise and aware of that she mentioned in several interviews. For the time being let us enjoy her marvelous Aïda❤

I just saw her in Medèe tonight. Wow. Shes on the verge of being a spinto soprano. Not a heavy voice at all but its powerful...very powerful.

I was there tonight for her last performance of Aïda at Berlin Staatsoper. She was absolutely stunning... and gorgeous. Standing ovation....
