Vargas has a strong, highly unpredictable and accurate spike, which earned her two MVPs. This is not just athleticism bringing points; she is also a very clever player.
I have followed the Turkey women's team since the start of this year mainly to see Gunes play. Vargas is a beast. Some players will probably have all the qualities that she has. But she beats all of them in her ability to twist and move her hand direction wherever she likes. That's a very difficult trait to perfect. That makes her able to find insane angles and hit it there. I say this because I am a volleyball player.

The Turkish team was already good on offense. Turkey has 4 semi-finals, 1 second place and 1 third place. The main problem of the Turkish team was defense. The main reason why the team is champion this time is because it solves defense problems.

Idk but vargas is like bosko and egonu combined. Bosko for great angles and power and consistency, egonu for height/reach, and accuracy placing with power. She rarely gets checked nor error.

Cuban athletes have amazing conditions to play volleyball and many other sports but politics, social and economic crisis don't allow them to develop a sports professional career, Melissa Vargas, Wilfredo Leon, Yoandri Leal could play in other teams but sadly there's many others players that didn't have the chance to show their great qualities and left volleyball
