I’m a p2 soon too be a p3, I recently changed my mind and want to do residency. I wasn’t involved in any clubs and didn’t network properly. Is it too late to think about residency since I’m in a 3 year program? What advice do you have for me, i want to apply for residencies and I’m kinda clueless.

miki24786 it’s NOT too late! We would recommend the following: Pick challenging APPE rotations with residency preceptors or residency program director if possible, try to publish something (example: case report), get involved with extra projects (drug monographs to present at P&T or an in-service that would look good on CV), attend Midyear Clinical Meeting and present poster at Midyear if possible, do personal placement service (PPS) at Midyear, attend local ASHP or ACCP chapter meetings/CE events (network with these people), keep grades as high as possible. Hope this helps, let us know if you have further questions.

Rx duo my school’s grading system is a pass/no pass system. do they still look at my transcript? I have already selected my APPE preceptors, I have 2 facilities before the residency interviews. How many letter of recommendations do I need in order to be a good candidate ?

miki24786 transcripts are usually part of the application process to submit to a residency program when you apply. You have to look at each individual program’s application requirements, but usually most programs require 3 letters of recommendation.
