This song is bittersweet for me. It's one of the 1st songs my girlfriend & I said was "our song". We were together 43 years. She passed away in April of this year. This is the hardest thing I've ever gone thru. She was such a wonderful person. The most caring & selfless person you could know. I miss her terribly, but thank you for playing this great memory.
I am so sorry for your loss. 7:44 ! I get so depressed I am 66 years old and I have one older brother and he is 77 years old. I can not help myself but thinking how much longer is he going to be around. My brother name is Charlie Jackson and he has way out lived anyone else in our family. I also have a older sister she is 70 but she has a lot of health issues. I am 66 I have had open heart surgery and 15 years ago I am just had surgery to remove a polyp on my upper intestine. Thank goodness 😅 it wasn’t cancerous. I have lost 5 other older brother.Of course I lost both of my parents back in 1995. But I had lost two of my brothers even before my parents passageway. My Wife is 70 and I worry about her getting sick. She has health issues. I know that I sound very very stupid but I have lost so many people that I love. I just lost a brother about 3 years ago and I just lost a nephew a little over a year ago. My nephew was the son of my brother who just passed. They both had cancer ♋️ and I lost my mom and another brother to cancer ♋️. I pretty much think about all of them every day. I just find it so very hard to believe that I only have one brother and one sister left living. 7:44 !
I can honestly say that this was an actual pick-up line in the mid to late 70s and early 80s. As matter of fact the line was around before the song! The Bellamy Brothers were the only ones who could take such a crass pick-up line and make it into something beautiful!
I was in high school when this song came out, and yes, we used that line. Most of us grew up, though! I don't usually like country but these guys are my favorite country band. Off the same album is I AIN'T JUST WHISTLING DIXIE. That could be your next BB song.
Lots of good stuff from the Bellamy's. Red Neck Girl, Get into Reggae Cowboy, Kids of the Baby Boom, Dancing Cowboys and one of my faves You Ain't Just a Whistling Dixie. All worth a listen.
@@alleykeosheyan4779 My mom had the album and she and my aunt loved this song so much. I'm sure they were cracking up with me singing it. I'd have been about nine or so, I guess, so not a little kid, but definitely not very worldly. Hah!
Every time I tune in to see you guys, I’m always happy with the song choice. It’s like going back in time, I hear songs that remind me of my parents who have both passed. So many snippets of past moments.
These guys live on a 200 acre cattle/horse ranch in Darby Florida, about 10 miles from me. They have been making hits since... I guess the first I remember would go back to the 1970s.
In the early '80s I lived less than a mile from Belmont Park Racetrack in NY. Once a week in the summer months, they had free outdoor country music concerts after the last race. I got to see the Bellamy Brothers and lots of other great acts: Bobby Bare, the Gatlin Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Paycheck, and more.
Massive, massive hit for the Bellamies. Everyone love the double meaning of the song. It was a number 1 song on the Billboard Country Chart for quite a bit if memory serves.
I have met the Bellamy Brothers at the Craven Jamboree . They are amazing they are so sweet and down to earth I have nothing but total respect for them. I was staff working back stage VIP were are the artists are. We were not suppose to get star struck or ask for pictures they had a place set up for the concert goers to take pics they were so nice they allowed us to take pics of us with them I have the pics somewhere.
Did I ever use that line? Nah! Family pics are essential for the future, Jay. But I hear ya. Yes. Buffet. Great tune. Great voices. Thanks. Nope, Amber. Got no cheesy line memories. Whew!! Enjoy the family pictures. You Will look back and say, "Man we were something else!" ❤❤❤
The Bellamy Brothers had one of country rocks best steel guitar performer. There was a ten year stretch late sixties and early seventies where there was cross over hits going both directions.
They started off with a Pp Hit back in the 70's "Let Your Love Flow" that was featured in movies and was an extremely big radio hit at the time. But in the 80's and 90's they moved more into Country and found great success there.
Why don't they make songs like this now? So calm and relaxing, fun and chill. Just joy. I'd suggest Let Your Love Flow if you want another happy song, or When I'm Away From You for something with a hint of blue. Love this group! Thanks for reacting to them again! :)
Reggae Cowboy is one of theirs that I think you'll enjoy. Great reaction. For story telling I'm going to suggest Tom T Hall's "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died".
Dionne Warwick has been named to the Kennedy Center honoree list!!! Jay & Amber, You are overdue for the Great Dionne Warwick's - Walk On By, Do You Know The Way To San Jose, I Say A Little Prayer or Alfie. All Burt Bacharach/Hal David written hit songs. Music by Burt, Words by Hal. Timeless Music.
There's a garage about 15 minutes from where I live, in Northern Kentucky, that's closed down. There's been an old, run-down Bellamy Brothers tour bus sitting behind it for about 10 years or so now!!!
Imagine it's the early 80's and you're walking into a Northside Fort Worth bar just off the stockyards, and this is playing...yeah, it was pretty awesome.
Went to see the Bellamy Brothers & Tanya Tucker at Ponderosa Park, Salem Ohio in the late 90s. The Bellamy Brothers sang 1st & yes they were good. Had to wait over an hour for Tanya to show up for the show. She was late because she loved flea markets. It was worth the wait. But l was beginning to think she wouldn't show up. Tanya still has an amazing voice. I swear Tanya's voice gets even better the older she gets.
One of the earliest songs I heard my dad sing...Miss him so much! Especially the part when the dad tells the son not to make small talk but to come right out and say what's on his mind to a girl...
I can remember that EVERY place that had a jukebox had this song on it, and played it OFTEN! I have used that line often, when pretending to be cheesy jerk! LOL!! The BEST pickup line to use is, simply, "Hi, my name is ....." Starts a conversation anyway.
I'm glad y'all have checked on The Bellamy Brothers. I'd like to suggest so more Texas boys like Clint Black, Mark Chesnut, Johnny Rodriguez, Emilio Navaira, and Ray Price.
Quite a few country singers incorporate island vibes and island love into their music. TRY Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet singing Its 5 0" clock somewhere and especially Kenny Chesney singing No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem. Buffet is the king of island music as well. And Jack Johnson is spectacular for it as well, since he lives in Hawaii...his song Banana Pancakes is sweet and great for kids, too ..and he has much more. I love all the diversity of country, pop and how they incorporate island music.
I remember this on the radio when I was growing up. I heard the line and thought of it two ways, the obvious pick up line, but also, could mean "If I say this, will you get mad about it"
This song was reaponsible for one of the greateat nights of one of my relationships. My girlfeiend at the time said "no" when i asked her to which i reaponded "what if i want your body held against me" . Thanks for bringing back a mamory.
This is a classic sing-along song! I always thought he would say that to his wife years later, at an unexpected moment, to act a little silly, and to provide a spark to keep a good marriage going. Something along the lines of my thoughts: Billie Jo Spears “Blanket On The Ground”. A country song from 1975.
First brother duo in country music, saw them live in 2017, great show, check out "Reggie Cowboy" by the same brothers, "Baby Boom" is another great song.
I agree 100%, this song really reminds me of many Jimmy Buffett songs. Im def a Parrot Head and fan. This is a great song. I think u'd love "Sentimental Lady" by Bob Welch 1972. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
@arepurposedlifewithlaura1496 I think she truly is one of the greats .. she is just low key in wish list for most people .. I still listen to her music it's timeless

You need to listen to Angels & Outlaws Vol.1 where they sing their hits as duets. This one they sing with Dolly Parton, a great version with Dolly being Dolly and improvising lines thru out the song. The Bellamys are still touring, they're all over the place. They did a European tour last summer and are constantly playing somewhere. They do a lot of charity gigs around here on the Florida gulf coast as they live like 20 miles away. They have their own street too, Bellamy Brothers Blvd in Dade City.

Very true. If I had a dime…
Do You Love As Good As You Look is awesome by The Bellamy Brothers
Oh the old double entendre. Haha. I remember when this first came out and people laughing at the double meaning. Cleaver, fun and a little naughty.
Completely agree with you. The double meaning was my first reaction
Lots of good stuff from the Bellamy's. Red Neck Girl, Get into Reggae Cowboy, Kids of the Baby Boom, Dancing Cowboys and one of my faves You Ain't Just a Whistling Dixie. All worth a listen.
You Ain't Just A-Whisling Dixie is my absolute favorite song of theirs, and probably ranks in my top ten by anyone! 💕
When I’m away from you I think was their best song.
My favorite Bellamy Brothers songs are "Dancin' Cowboys" and "Get Into Reggae, Cowboy."
Do you love as good as you look is another great song by them.
I LOVED this song when I was little and always went around singing it. I had no clue what it actually meant. Ah, the innocence of childhood.
OMG, your parents must have had the most quizzical looks on their faces, that's so funny!
@@alleykeosheyan4779 My mom had the album and she and my aunt loved this song so much. I'm sure they were cracking up with me singing it. I'd have been about nine or so, I guess, so not a little kid, but definitely not very worldly. Hah!
The title is a Groucho Marx line
Bellamy Brothers actually have a bunch of songs in the genre. Sugar Daddy, and I’d Lie to You are a couple of my favorites.
Every time I tune in to see you guys, I’m always happy with the song choice. It’s like going back in time, I hear songs that remind me of my parents who have both passed. So many snippets of past moments.

This line got me slapped in a bar. Great, classic sound from the era.
Love The Bellamy Brothers! Their saucy but not offensive lyrics always bring a smile to my lips - and as a woman, they sing lines I'd love to hear!!!

That island vibe that you speak of is actually a genre called Tropical Rock (Trop Rock) that was basically started by Jimmy Buffett
This song is fantastic 😊
I love the double entendre in "would you hold it against me"... 😁
I have loved this song since I was young.
I'm glad I brought my library card because I'm checking you out ;)
This is one of my favorite double-meaning songs.
There is 3 versions of “Old Hippie” each progress through decades. You 2 are great.
Massive, massive hit for the Bellamies. Everyone love the double meaning of the song. It was a number 1 song on the Billboard Country Chart for quite a bit if memory serves.
This was always a great one! 😊Bellamy Brothers were great!
LOVE THIS SONG: STILL!! Used to go BOOT SCOOTIN' to this one!! SUCH FUN LYRICS!!! Bellamy Brothers are SO AWESOME!! HUGS, YA'LL!!

Yes, when his kids are grown, he'll enjoy showing those pics to his grandkids and be glad he has them. :)
Shania Twain had this song as an inspiration for play on words when she wrote Man,I feel like a woman. Jay will love that tidbit
Very calm and relaxing
This was quite the song back then playing on both country and top 40 radio
yeah Let Your Love Flow was a huge pop hit.
@@Hobodeluxe960 they’re not reacting to that
@@elizabethfranco1284 they already have.
Love The Bellamy Brothers. ❤❤❤
Kenny Chesney "when the sun goes down" or "no shoes no shirt, no problem" straight to the top of kayak playlist
"They Could Put Me in Jail" is another good classic Bellamy Brothers song that played on the radio some back in 1980 or 1981
The Bellamy Brothers had one of country rocks best steel guitar performer. There was a ten year stretch late sixties and early seventies where there was cross over hits going both directions.
Dolly Parton said this was one of the greatest country songs ever written and performed.
I'm just here for Ambers ever-changing hair..
She's lucky for that ability! Her hair looks great however she wears it!
Ha ha ha 😂
😆👍🏻
She's so adorable and that's true. She looks great, however, even when she Pregnant, she had such a glow and she had such a cute little baby face.
Beautiful!!
Y’all need to react the Kentucky Headhunters. They have a few good ones to check out like Dumas Walker or Walk Softly on this Heart of Mine.
Yessss! I actually saw them in concert and they ROCKED! Love them.
That would be a great choice

Jimmy Buffett...I was thinking the same! 😁
"Have you seen my heart? I lost it when I looked into your eyes." WORKED!🤣
My mother loved this song. She’s 97 now. ❤
Now you are really bringing me back to my teens😂😂😂😂😂😂
I loved your reaction, it was a pretty good song. Luv you two! 💙💖
Interesting to see a list of what your "river music" songs are so far.
They are from Florida!
Why don't they make songs like this now? So calm and relaxing, fun and chill. Just joy. I'd suggest Let Your Love Flow if you want another happy song, or When I'm Away From You for something with a hint of blue. Love this group! Thanks for reacting to them again! :)
Here again suggesting "Hard To Be Humble" by Mac Davis
Poor Boy Boogie-Mac Davis❤
@@theoriginalmel - Mac Davis - "Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me"
That line was one of the all-time pick-up lines of the seventies.
Reggae Cowboy is one of theirs that I think you'll enjoy. Great reaction. For story telling I'm going to suggest Tom T Hall's "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died".
another good group out of fla .... pasco county if i remember right
"Dancin' Cowboys" and "Get Into Reggae, Cowboy."
They always kinda reminded me of a cross between Jimmy Buffett & a "mini-Alabama" group.... 🤣🤣🤣❤❤❤
The Bellamy Brothers ft John Anderson- No Country Music for Old Men is a good one.
I'd lie to you for your love; favorite song of theirs
Dionne Warwick has been named to the Kennedy Center honoree list!!!

This is my favorite Bellamy Bros,…. Definitely a pickup line that works! 😜. Though i’m pretty sure this is not the studio version
This is a song we would “sing” to each other in elementary school. It was fun, silly and we kinda knew what it meant.
I once walked up to a girl and said excuse me but your hand looks lonely can I hold it. 27 years later I’m still married to that same girl.
This was so sweet! Congratulations on the marriage journey.

If I'm not mistaken,I think that 1990s-era country singer Clay Walker has a song called "Then What?" that has island-music vibes.

We danced to this at our wedding in 1985.............it worked that night........LOL.

The title was also a line in a Monty Python skit about someone (maybe German) working with an English phrase book, 1970ish.
How apropos! Jay is wearing an Orlando Florida shirt and the Bellamy Brothers are from Florida (Darby).
Definitely "Buffettesque"! 😉♥
This is beautiful...but Sante Fe is the bomb! So comforting...It's from the Bellamy Bros. Give it a listen.
