Here from Beau is Afraid. I thought I was a fan of Nina but can’t believe I didn’t know this one. It really was the perfect choice for that scene, the thought of seeing your love after so many years just made me tear up in the theater.
this touches very deeply with how I feel about everything going on in the world right now, and it really is a pity that twenty-five years after this song first came to light matters have not changed. I love Nina Simone. Saw her live in Central Park in 1967. She absolutely blew my mind and has been one of my most very favorite females singers ever since.
This song is utterly perfect. See "What Happened to You Miss Simone" on Netflix. She was indeed a classical pianist, but was denied those opportunities and directed towards soul and pop because that's what people knew a talented Black musician could do. Isn't that a pity?
@@myeshajarrell2069 Actually this IS a cover of a George Harrison song taken from his "All Things Must Pass" album, and as Jessica Falstein says, makes it her own.

Nina elevates Harrison's song to something even beyond Lennon and mccartney. The depth of soul in the lyrics cuts so deep as only the truth can. Love Nina but hadn't heard this song till I saw Beau Is Afraid. Was a pleasant surprise to hear her voice on the big screen in IMAX. Looked up the song right after.
it's by George Harrison, he wrote it one night when he left the Beatles for a while because he saw they fell apart. When I heard the lyrics in the movie I was happy that my favorite George song gets recognition!
She was ahead of her time….but we didn’t listen…..stilll not listening now the world is full of plactic it sicks to our souls to our lives and for generations after. Thank you Nina so powerful in so many world through your songs….. I was about 8 years when I heard your beautiful voice. It has resonance now merely 70 I am listening Ito you as always. Thank you
@@aramidekay5448 Hers is definitely better. She was quite a presence, both signing other peoples' song as well as her own. She had an unpleasant personality, though.
This singing is exquisitely oozing “Soul”. It hugs my heart and brain and swing me back and forth like a baby in my mum’s arms. Same “being” experience as when listening to Um Kalthoum in Inta Umri. Thank you Nina for helping me see the “beauty that surrounds us”. You are definitely part of “The beauty”. However I feel deeply sad that you had to give so much to learn about “The beauty” and subsequently so generously and unselfishly pass it on to us. Be assured that I will pass it on to my child who I hope will pass it on to someone in the future. Thank you Nina Simone
I am touched by this song..I am mesmerized...I am inspired...I am thoughtful...I am moved to love more, to forgive more, to be more caring, to respect more, to look for the goodness and beauty in people...to think that there is still love in this world despite all the crime and violence, despite all the hatred, despite all the wars and destruction...there is hope..there is love....this song has touched my innermost...and this is 2020..maybe this is the year of change for me and for you. Sending love from Belize to the rest of the world..sending love to you!
Menzi Botshelo, yes. And it's a real pity that so many people can't see these open doors, or think about caring...a real damn pity.I see it everyday, I see it in myself. All the missed opportunities to show each other we do care. And the way we can be so careless with love--the very thing we should cherish and handle with care.
Thank you for that. I would not've known it was George Harrison's original song otherwise. A legend himself may he RIEP. and Yes Nina has characteristically poured her soul all over it...BEAUTIFUL & MYSTICALLY Blessed SO she was..................
All the love, from Morocco 🇲🇦❤️ I think that the English language is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever happened to admire. I’m so lucky to be able to read, write and speak 3 languages; it makes me travel the world and live different lives however the harshness I live in. Keep shining, beautiful people ❤️
Nina was a cover Queen who take anyone's song and make it her own. She covered Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, Paul Anka, Bob Dylan, Barbara Streisand, Mama Cass, Tina Turner, and many more. A consummate artist and one of the best live entertainers of our time, God Rest Her Soul. She is missed.

This was from a different era in the '70s...But this applies now in 2022...George Harrison from the "Beatles" Song With a beautiful rendition from Nina Simone...
Please go listen to ALL of her songs. There is a story in every song and you will learn something. Many, if not most of her songs, are life-changing, truthful, expressing deep emotions, comforting, funny, and just music about reality; real life stuff. She sings, "Cotton Eyed Joe" and gives it a sweet and loving meaning--come on now. Her style is just deep.
Isn't it a pity, and we are still here in 2018 , more confused , more pain, more sadness, more ignorence, more racism, more prejudism, more murders, more hatred, more wars, it's a shame, isn't it a pity.

Beautiful
Isn't it a pity
You don't know what i'm talking about yet
But i will tell you soon
It's a pity
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a shame
Yes, how we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Forgetting to remember
Just forgetting and no thank you
Isn't it a pity
Some things take so long
But how do i explain
Why not too many people can see
That we are all just the same
We're all guilty
Because of all the tears
Our eyes just can't hope to see
But i don't think it's applicable to me
The beauty that surrounds them
Child, isn't it a pity
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
The most precious thing
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Forgetting to keep open our door
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a pity
Some things take so long
But how do I explain
Isn't it a pity
Why not too many people
Can see we're all the same
Because we cry so much
Our eyes can't, can't hope to see
That's not quite true
The beauty that surrounds them
Maybe that's why we cry
God, it's a pity
Lord knows it's a pity
Mankind has been so programmed
That they don't care about nothin'
That has to do with care
C-a-r-e
How we take each other's love
The most precious thing
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Forgetting to keep open the door
But i understand some things take so long
But how do I explain
Why not too many people
Can see we're just the same
And because of all their tears
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
God, isn't it a pity
The beauty that surrounds them
It's a pity
We take each other's love
Just take it for granted
Without thinking anymore
We give each other pain
And we shut every door
We take each other's minds
And we're capable of take each other's souls
We do it every day
Just to reach some financial goal
Lord, isn't it a pity, my God
Isn't it a pity, my God
And so unnecessary
Just a little time, a little care
A little note written in the air
Just the little thank you
We just forget to give back
Cause we're moving too fast
Moving too fast
Forgetting to give back
But some things take so long
And I cannot explain
The beauty that surrounds us
And we don't see it
We think things are just the same
We've been programmed that way
Isn't it a pity
If you want to feel sorry
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a pity
The beauty sets the beauty that surrounds us
Because of all our tears
Our eyes can't hope to see
Maybe one day at least i'll see me
And just concentrate on givin', givin', givin', givin'
And till that day
Mankind don't stand a chance
Don't know nothin' about romance
Everything is plastic
Isn't it a pity

Child, isn't it a pity
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
The most precious thing
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Forgetting to keep open our door
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a pity
Some things take so long
But how do i explain
Isn't it a pity
Why not too many people
Can see we're all the same
Because we cry so much
Our eyes can't, can't hope to see
That's not quite true
The beauty that surrounds them
Maybe that's why we cry
God, isn't it a pity
Lord knows it's a pity
Mankind has been so programmed
That they don't care about nothin'
That has to do with care
C-a-r-e
How we take each other's love
The most precious thing
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Forgetting to keep open the door
But i understand some things take so long
But how do i explain
Why not too many people
Can see we're just the same
And because of all their tears
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
God, isn't it a pity
The beauty that surrounds them
It's a pity
We take each other's love
Just take it for granted
Without thinking anymore
We give each other pain
And we shut every door
We take each other's minds
And we're capable of take each other's souls
We do it every day
Just to reach some financial goal
Lord, isn't it a pity, my God
Isn't it a pity, my God
And so unnecessary
Just a little time, a little care
A little note written in the air
Just the little thank you
We just forget to give back
Cause we're moving too fast
Moving too fast
Forgetting to give back
But some things take so long
And i cannot explain
The beauty that surrounds us
And we don't see it
We think things are just the same
We've been programmed that way
Isn't it a pity
If you want to feel sorry
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a pity
The beauty sets the beauty that surrounds us
Because of all our tears
Our eyes can't hope to see
Maybe one day at least I'll see me
And just concentrate on givin', givin', givin', givin'
And till that day
Mankind don't stand a chance
Don't know nothin' about romance
Everything is plastic
Isn't it a pity
My God.
I'm crying like a baby, Nina and George just touch my heart.
Rocio Conde kudos bro ✊️✊️👊
Me too
Me too. I'm feeling
She was out of this world and this time. She came from somewhere else. She delivered the message and left.
She's still here and everywhere, but we have to listen.
@@TAndrackeH yes sister
Truly.
Truly.
This is literally soul music.
One of my favorite songs by Miss Simone-but then every song is my favorite
One of the best songs ever made on this earth think about folks".........
it a pity this song has to end
That's cute.....😊💞🌼 happy New year
Isn't it?
All things must pass
Thank you
For reasons why i was bought here, this lovely lady sang like she found her life,,darling Lady.
Remembering Miss Nina Simone on her 83rd birthday...much love
makes me think about how we take life for granted
She owned that song. Actually, she owned all the songs she ever touched.
My immediate reaction in the first 30 seconds of this.
Amen
Yes, composer George Harrison has poor version of this song.
@@aramidekay5448 Hers is definitely better. She was quite a presence, both signing other peoples' song as well as her own.
She had an unpleasant personality, though.
@@aramidekay5448 Comparisons kill. Both versions are beautiful.
Fantastic, I'm hearing this for the first time, didn't even know this song.
It touched my heart, gobsmacked... thanks a lot for posting
I just heard it for the first time.......heartfelt.
This is a George Harrison song; I love this song.
Well, that caught me out... I have often listened to Nina Simone, but this song got the tears flowing... quite unexpectedly.
whenever I listen her singing it goes straight to my heart, its like she sings her heart out and it resonates to the listener...
From her heart and soul!!! It makes me almost cry because I feel this so much
Nina Simone and George Harrison,
Requiescant in Pace
et in Amore
That is love
RAHEN TAŞ teşekkür ederim
I am touched by this song..I am mesmerized...I am inspired...I am thoughtful...I am moved to love more, to forgive more, to be more caring, to respect more, to look for the goodness and beauty in people...to think that there is still love in this world despite all the crime and violence, despite all the hatred, despite all the wars and destruction...there is hope..there is love....this song has touched my innermost...and this is 2020..maybe this is the year of change for me and for you. Sending love from Belize to the rest of the world..sending love to you!
This is a powerful song of self-introspection and reflection on your role on other people's life. I love you Nina
NINA IS A FORCE!!! Unforgettable.
This woman touches my soul like very few. I find her mesmerizing. Thank God for her.
This George Harrison song is one I used to play a lot back in the seventies and eighties.... Of course Nina, well she takes it to another level
Thank you for that. I would not've known it was George Harrison's original song otherwise. A legend himself may he RIEP.
and Yes Nina has characteristically poured her soul all over it...BEAUTIFUL & MYSTICALLY Blessed SO she was..................
The profound effect of the voice with her own instrument overpowers.
Nina Simone one in a million .it is a huge lost by losing her but she is in a better place.may God bless your Soul
She turned this song into an intense slow burn. It smoldered at some points. What an amazing cover!
nina+ Georges Harrison= perfection
Some of my favorites, fantastic. thanks for sharing
First time hearing this and I'm blown away. I dig the white noise of the vinyl too great recording.
Same here
All the love, from Morocco 🇲🇦❤️
I think that the English language is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever happened to admire.
This is a timeless song...It is exactly how this world is today...Not ALL of us...BUT theres an overwhelming truth to this that breaks my heart in 2💔 God help us...🙏
Very great song of a very famous lady ... Thnx so much 4 sharing!
I looove the original, but this is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!
I'M HERE IN 2020 & RIP NINA, NOTHING HAS CHANGED, WE HAVEN'T CHANGED, SAD 2020
It is a pity. I change by having to reign my love in for all the reasons this song gives but her comforting tones makes it all OK.
i can never stop loving this song... thank you
Gorgeous creature of light
Why do we break each other's hearts ! & cause each other pain ! It really is a pity !
Lilac wine is one of my favorite songs.
also here for beau, most emotionally palpable moment of the movie for me. made me legit tear up watching his defeated stare with this song playing in the background, he looked so tired.
it's by George Harrison, he wrote it one night when he left the Beatles for a while because he saw they fell apart. When I heard the lyrics in the movie I was happy that my favorite George song gets recognition!
It's a pity that this is my first time ever hearing this song. #Beautiful
Perfect proof that there's truth in " Better late than never.".
This goddess was connected to the source, channeling the vibes, seeing and feeling reality
No matter who performs this piece I hear George.
Here for Beau
Beautiful, id love to have seen Nina and George on on stage playing this together x
Real vinyl. Beautiful version and one that enhances George Harrison's original composition.
Isn't it a pity
Now, isn't it a shame
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity
Some things take so long
But how do I explain
When not too many people
Can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a pity
Isn't is a shame
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love

Isn't it a pity
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity
Forgetting to give back
Now, isn't it a pity
What a pity
What a pity, pity, pity
What a pity
What a pity, pity, pity
Canção linda de Harrison, profunda, como ele foi, e sem chances de não se emocionar; na voz de Nina, eu até choro. Demais !
beautiful,
. tough. gracious
Thank you Nina!
This woman was magic, the type that happens only once 👌💞💞💞💞💞
A force of nature a troubled mind a gift to us all. Thank you miss Nina.

Holami
I've learned half of my life's feelings from Nina, thank you , from the bottom of my soul dear Nina....I wish I could see you , but unfortunately I was to young in the time of your life....:(
Isn't it a pity
You don't know what I'm talking about yet
But I'm gonna tell you soon
It's a pity
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a shame
Yes, how we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back, forgetting to remember
Just forgetting a note of thank you
Isn't it a pity
Some things take so long
But how do I explain
Why not too many people can see
that we are all just the same
We're all guilty
Because all the tears
Our eyes just can't hope to see
But I don't think it's applicable to me
The beauty that surrounds them
Child, isn't it a pity
How we take each other's love
The most precious thing without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back, forgetting to keep open the door

The beauty that surrounds them

The beauty that surrounds us
And we don't see it
We think things are just the same
We've been programmed that way
Isn't it a pity
If you want to feel sorry
Isn't it a pity, isn't it a pity

This was from a different era in the '70s...But this applies now in 2022...George Harrison from the "Beatles" Song With a beautiful rendition from Nina Simone...
i love you Nina and that is not a pity and not even a shame
Please go listen to ALL of her songs. There is a story in every song and you will learn something. Many, if not most of her songs, are life-changing, truthful, expressing deep emotions, comforting, funny, and just music about reality; real life stuff. She sings, "Cotton Eyed Joe" and gives it a sweet and loving meaning--come on now. Her style is just deep.
this isn't her song, its a cover of a George Harrison song
Isn't it a pity, and we are still here in 2018 , more confused , more pain, more sadness, more ignorence, more racism, more prejudism, more murders, more hatred, more wars, it's a shame, isn't it a pity.
Virasami N such a pitiful shame.
I wonder why..life is bizarre.. take a deep breath and and send good energy.Im bored and feeling all emotions .
Amen.
Workers over the Elites

This killed it then, and kills it sixty years later. Nina, you gave so much. Your message is still alive and waiting to be heard today. Thank you.
