I'm a little puzzled over how the series went from story based tactical shooter to a PvP borderline hero shooter like Siege.
Yes. Like how Cod did... (I know cod isn't tactical but it went to online game from story based.) ı finished Lone Wolf five mins ago. It was the hardest game I've ever played. Tried multiple times in every level. But that was fun because I learned enemy locations everytime and get better. It was 25 minutes long but not for me...
@@DarthErdogan It's worse than COD, at least COD has near unlimited weapon customization. RS is now 100% a hero shooter with character specific abilities, some pushing magical and not natural abilities. It's beyond disappointing.

I only really played the original Rainbow 6, Vegas, and Vegas 2. Both the Vegas games were masterpieces, probably the first one being the most memorable and also my favorite. I think Patriots would have been a fantastic game if they finished making it. I was really looking forward to it.

1,2 and 3 are the best in the series.
Siege is a fun and great game but it just no longer deserves to have "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six" in the title.
If anything, Ready or Not definitely gives that old Rainbow Six vibe
Along with spanking-new gunplay, that definetly makes the game great for gun enthusiasts or military vets alike.
Chamber checking, ammo checking, select-fire, multiple attachments per guns...
@@johnnyg4mer764 that's all well and good, but the game lacks gameplay. They put all the development time into making sure the shooterballs Mark II's chamber flap properly flops around when bullets comes out of the tube, but forgot to add realistic NPC behavior for players to actually interact with. Your squad barely cooperates with orders, Suspects constantly tank bullets while being able to stay on target, they don't actually pose a threat to hostages.
Ready or not might have the correct shootyshooty components, but it's all bust if literally everything past the gun your holding is shit.
Also as a reply to the original comment. Rainbow isn't a swat unit, it's a military unit. If I HAD to make a modern analogy, ground branch is much more rainbow sixy than ready or not. Ready or not is meant to be a successor to the SWAT series.

I used to play a rainbow six game I really loved on a playstation system I forgot which one it was lol.
R6 Lockdown is absolute pales in comparison to its predecessor, especially Rogue Spear and Raven Shield. IMHO SWAT 4 came out in a same year as Lockdown and yet it did everything better and stay faithful to its root.
I would say that the main SWAT series weren't heavily dumbed down and consolized for bigger casual gaming audience like R6 do, since SWAT 3 & 4 were only released on PC (Console had SWAT Global Strike btw, but it's mediocre compared to the masterpiece & brilliant SWAT 3&4) so Irrational Games studio have a lot of their creative freedom in developing SWAT. That's why SWAT 4 still delivered a solid tactical FPS experience and a great follow up to the 3rd entry, given the game is only available on PC.
Unlike Rainbow6. R6 on the other hand went arcadey after Raven Shield and been heavily consolized which is a shame what R6 had become. After playing SWAT 4, you will realized how lackluster & shameful Rainbow 6 had become, ever since the 4th entry that was Lockdown. SWAT 4 just proved how stupid Rainbow 6 devs were, when they goes in a wrong direction, from a solid tactical FPS with a brilliant planning mission within AI team forces to become a generic action arcadey FPS that try hard to be a blend mix between COD & CS in a terrible way. Not to mentioned, consolization franchise. That been said, Lockdown is a beginning of the downfall of R6 franchise and a letdown for hardcore R6 community. All trash after Raven Shield. Don't @ me

I think you should try out ground branch then. A couple of the r6 devs moved on to work on that game and it's what r6 should've went towards.

Raven shield still the best Rainbow game. What rainbow was all about, Vegas /Seige became a run and gun shooter, lost its tactical brilliance.
Eh, siege honestly is the bigger departure from the series.
Vegas was more of a spinoff then a mainstay title. So in that regard, I think it does perfectly fine. It seemed to wanna focus more on a single fireteam rather than a full squad, and it did that pretty well.
I wouldn't have a single problem with Vegas if it didn't dictate a new direction for the series and was just an arcade spinoff.

Damn, Ubisoft & Red Storm did really dropped their ball after Raven Shield which is a shame because Raven Shield is still one of my favorite tactical FPS of all time. Lockdown is a piece of 💩. Vegas is a good action game on its own but didn't deserve to carry R6 title when it does lack of planning phase tactics and the TPP cover system did turn me off. Siege is a mess of a multiplayer galore with no more campaign whatsoever. Don't even get me started on Extraction

They changed it to extraction. Tbh extraction is a tactical shooter which in my opinion brought back some honor to the name rainbow six. Siege was just a sad game with a toxic community and it doesn't deserve the name rainbow six. From Vegas 2 and older will always be the best rainbow six games there is. I wish they would've finished patriots I believe it would've did a great job but instead they gave us siege instead and tried to make up for it with quarantine but turned around and gave us extraction which was better than siege.
@jamesroland4234 Bollocks. Extraction should have not been R6 game. R6 game is all about an international counter terrorism forces against the international terrorist. This is R6, not SCP so Extraction may be a worthy tactical game to carry SCP title, instead.

Back then the franchise was developed by Red Storm and curated by Tom Clancy, then comes Ubisoft, slowly starts taking over, and as is tradition for them, absolutely shit on everything.
People think EA is the worst developer company, but my money has always been on Ubisoft, I don't think I've ever enjoyed anything they did since they stopped making mainline Rayman games, which is probably their only original IP worth mentioning.
