    Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series switches are purpose-built for resiliency at scale with the industry’s most comprehensive security and allows your business to grow at lowest total operational cost. Built upon the foundation of Catalyst 9000, the Catalyst 9600 Series offers scale and security when always on is a must.
    As foundational building blocks for the Cisco Digital Network Architecture, Catalyst 9600 Series switches help customers simplify complexity, optimize IT, and reduce operational costs by leveraging intelligence, automation and human expertise that no other vendor can deliver regardless of where you are in the intent-based networking journey.
    Catalyst 9600 Series Switches provide security features that protects the integrity of the hardware as well as the software and all data that flows through the switch. It provides resiliency that keeps your business up and running seamlessly. Combine that with open APIs of Cisco IOS XE and programmability of the UADP ASIC technology, Catalyst 9600 Series switches give you what you need now with investment protection on future innovations.
    As the industry’s first purpose-built 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet line of modular switches targeted for the enterprise campus, Catalyst 9600 Series switches deliver unmatched table scale (MAC, route, and Access Control List [ACL]) and buffering for enterprise applications. The Cisco Catalyst 9606R chassis is hardware ready to support a wired switching capacity of up to 25.6 Tbps, with up to 6.4 Tbps of bandwidth per slot. Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series switches support granular port densities that fit diverse campus needs, including nonblocking 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP+, QSFP28) and 1, 10, and 25 GE Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus (SFP, SFP+, SFP28) and 10, 5, 2.5 and 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) and 100, 10 Megabit (Mbps) RJ45 copper ports. The switches also support advanced routing and infrastructure services (such as Multiprotocol Label Switching [MPLS] Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, Multicast VPN [MVPN], and Network Address Translation [NAT]); Cisco Software-Defined Access capabilities (such as a host tracking database, cross-domain connectivity, and VPN Routing and Forwarding [VRF]-aware Locator/ID Separation Protocol [LISP]); and network system virtualization with Cisco StackWise® virtual technology that are critical for their placement in the campus core. The Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series also supports foundational high-availability capabilities such as patching, Graceful Insertion and Removal (GIR), Cisco Nonstop Forwarding with Stateful Switchover (NSF/SSO), redundant platinum-rated power supplies, and fans.

    Hi Magnus,
    At first I was screaming at you to remove the line cards and PSUs before handling the chassis so you don't have to lift 50kgs of Cisco heaven. Eventually the video was very informative and a great piece. Thank you for your work and I wish that you have less CRC errors in 2022.

    hi sur can you put vedio configuration off this switch

  •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great to see new videos from you.
    Would love some small examples on what each type of port connects to. Nothing too big to increase the length of the video too much. Just like for example; these kinds of ports are typically used for leaf nodes.

      Ok i will keep that in mind, this specific switch is normally a core or a distribution switch as it’s a replacement for the old 6500 that is still used a lot.
      A benefit with this on is that it can run stackwise virtual meaning you can have 2 chassis act like one chassi but they don’t need to sit in the same rack/building and then use Multi chassi ether channel. Like a VSS version 2.0 :)
      The type of ports dose in many cases depends on your physical infrastructure between racks or buildings. A nice thing is that 25g is coming more and more and it has same form factor as 10g and in many cases the same price :)
      I can also be used within datacenter, but I would rather use the nexus line here.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MagnusHolmberg-NetSec is multi chassi ether channel sort of like MLAG? And VSS is some kind of HA system?

      Joel Hållsten vss and virtual sackwise is to make the switch look like 1 logical unit. Allowing you to build LACP towards the switch even that it’s actually 2 physical boxes that can be placed in different rooms.
      It’s to increase redundancy, performance and get rid of spanning-tree.

    Thank you @Magnus Holmbberg. I see that 9606R supports 100GE.Does the 100G come with necessary licenses or do we need to get a separate one?

    Hello Dear Magnus , Are you and your company you are in registered Cisco Partner or Distributor ? I just wonder how come you have all most top expensive Cisco Products handy around you like a warehouse. Thanks for sharing the content - cisco product's video. In this video You were really kind and gentle with the product's packaging :) Best wishes.

      Hi Mesut,
      Yes we are a Cisco Gold Partner and a Service Provider so we do buy alot of Cisco gear every year.
      Regarding the products, everything except this C9606R is our own equipment we use internally for our own offices and datacenters so no customer products was harmed in making these videos :)

    Thanks for the video Magnus. Are the supervisors in Active-Active mode? Or does the second take over when the first fails.

    • @MagnusHolmberg-NetSec
      @MagnusHolmberg-NetSec  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Desmond, i am actually not sure, if i check the documentation it says if the "active" light is amber.
      So if i would guess its active / standby.
      "Indicates one of the following:
      Supervisor module is in ROMmon mode
      Supervisor module is functioning as the standby supervisor (in redundant supervisor module configurations)"

    how much cost this switch with this config ? on average ?

    • @MagnusHolmberg-NetSec
      @MagnusHolmberg-NetSec  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No idea really, list prices are very high but almost everyone buy it via partners or similar and recive alot of discounts.
      Something that normally drives cost is SFP and how far they should reach. they can cost more than the boxes :)

      We actually just got a few new N9K-C9508 those are 68kg /150lb empty. Sadly they did arrive to another office and due to current situation I didn’t have the possibility for unboxing those. But maybe in the future :D I will not try to lift that myself. :D
