I'm 49, and still love the Wombles. Even now from the streets of Wimbledon where I grew up, I'm now teaching my grand kids here in Kansas City about the Wombles. Orinoco is my favourite, and take a few 40 winks too.
Brilliant. My third favourite track from the album 'Remember You're A Womble'. I still have that album. Have recently bought their 4 CD boxset of the their 4 studio albums and their 50 Anniversary album too on vinyl 😊👍 Thanks. I'm 57 by the way... 😉
It was around the same time (1977) when I was 19. I acquired an album of the Wombles in a seconds' sale in New Delhi. Heard it thoroughly for a few months......Can't forget this number and Orinoco Kid. Hardly anyone around me here knows about The Wombles. I was lucky to have invested my pocket money for this album.
I always identified with Wellington too. I think my sister still has this and the other two early albums, she me and our brother had them as joint property as children.
You were 19 and you bought the Wombles?! Let me say that again! You were 19 and you bought the Wombles?! At least I was only 8 in 1977 when this came out! I have an excuse! Ha ha! :D
