@@EasyElectronics_jobupdates thank you ma'am , I am regular subscriber of your channel, I have worked little bit on embedded design , now I am learning Verilog to explore more, please guide me on that also, if you have any material regarding this please mail me at princecsio60@gmail.com
There are a couple of answers that I don't fully agree with ma'am.....1st.....an OS need not be a part of every embedded system....for example, if an embedded application is developed using ATMEGA32 MCU, then OS is not a part of that application but if an embedded application is developed using Raspberry Pi or Beaglebone Black, then it can be said that the OS is a part of the application.....so OS being a part of the application really is dependent on the type of MCU around which the application is developed........2nd........about watchdog timer.....every instruction in MCU is executed in a particular time limit....so when a system hang condition comes.....that time limit exceeds the time set in the watchdog timer.....after that the time out signal causes the entire MCU to be reset completely.....and in any MCU, reset is the most fundamental source of an interrupt.....so any recovery programs that be kn the ISR for watchdog timer reset may be executed.......3rd.......a very simple answer for the need of infinite loops in an embedded application is that majority of these applications run continuously as long as they are powered up......for example, an air quality monitor needs to run continuously for monitoring pollution levels.....so the sensor data must be extracted continuously.....this is where infinite loops help......and using infinite loops to halt programs when error comes is it's secondary use......and of course one last thing is that Linux, Unix, etc are examples of general purpose OS......RTOS examples be like Mu-RTOS, FreeRTOS, TI-RTOS, Contiki OS, etc
No, I think if you have a good amount of memory then yes. However, the OS usually is used in 32 bit microcontrollers. You can download RTOS into you adrino I heard that is possible.

Does an embedded system must have an OS? E.g. a simple application using Arduino is considered an embedded system, but it does not run a real OS.
No, I think if you have a good amount of memory then yes. However, the OS usually is used in 32 bit microcontrollers. You can download RTOS into you adrino I heard that is possible.
