Thanks for this nostalgic trip to the strange time that was the early 90s. I grew up in Sydney but Footscray was giving me the Cabramatta vibes -possibly similar setup and issues faced by both suburbs back then.
That Vietnamese pronunciation was on point! After so many years, Pho Hung Vuong still hits the spot. Hoping for a part 2, would love to hear more nostalgic Footscray tales
Wow that 90s footage is so nostalgic! As a kid, i seem to remember alot of restaurants opening really late, till 3 in the morning. Thanks for the trip down memory lane
You talking about footscray the food court was so nostalgic. I also remembered that ninja turtles and Simpson machine in the foots market on the weekend mornings when holding my parents grocery bags too and waiting for them to go Bilo so I could play streetfigher
FC has changed a lot since I was in highschool 20 years ago. that front of the station was parking and it was terribly tight. I wonder how it will change in another 20 years.
You are right! There did use to be parking there! 20 years it will be completely different, probably electric charging stations everywhere.. I made another FC video a few weeks back, check it out 😁
Wow TJ, so fricken nostaglic bro. When you said your parents used to take u when u were little and make u hold all the grocieries.. that brought me back 100% lol. I'd stand in front of the Street Fighter machines (I remember there was a 4 player Ninja Turtle one in that market as well) and just watch people play. The old Bi-Lo market has the street fighter 2 machine I think and I'd hop on to pretend I was playing (didn't have any money back then) until someone who actually wanted to come play kicked me off haha. I do remember a doctor feeling sorry for me one time and popped in a $2 coin for me... it was 4 fricken credits, felt like I had just hit the lotto haha. Played a good solid hour. Dunno why i remember all the un-inportant stuff haha Broooo those were the daysss!!! You've given me some inspiration on helping the homeless and unfortunate. I'll need to take my daughter around to show her how good she has it compared to other people. Giving people water on hot days is a small gesture but such a powerful way to teach our kids valuable life lessons. Drove past Franco Cozzo on the weekend - it's a fricken club/bar now. Still has the Franco Cozzo sign on it though for some reason haha. I'm so glad Thanh Loi is still around though - best broken rice in Melbourne, if not Australia... just their opening hours are all over the joint though. It feels like you grew up in Melb and just moved back visiting all the suburbs you lived in.
Hey man, I shot a video there yesterday.. the bilo is gone!!!!! I also walked into Franco cozzo .. what a trip! You telling me your story brings me back to the 90s ..damn I miss them days
@@TJ_OFFICIAL_MELB Yeah it was "burnt down" and never recovered. Not sure if Insurance claim was denied or whether they actually had insurance at all. I just know a lot of the market/shop owners there moved down to Springvale. It wouldn't surprise me if it turned into an apartment complex one day.
I remember the hot jam doughnut van i used to buy from em everytime i went to Footscray, and as a kid i remember going to Franco Cotsos when he had his 2 cockatoos Dave and Mabel 😊
@@RosscoStixFpVHey man, you've got your memories a little mixed up. Dave and Mabel were at Saba. Remember, " You don't say Saba, you say Saaa-baaaaaa!". Saba was a furniture joint in Dandenong South. On Frankston-Dandenong Rd I think.
@@arthurdent6828 I could have sworn Franco Cozzo had cockatoos, I was young though, I did alil delving into this turns out you're correct.. I didn't think my memory was that bad 😅
The saddest thing I saw was a person living in the car park behind the Pawn shops. He wasn't able to keep food down and after a while his stomach became extremely bloated. He couldn't stop bringing up stomach acid. I went to Coles to get an up and go, liquzade and a banana. He was too weak to get up and couldn't even drink through a straw. I walked into to the chemist and asked them if they could call an ambulance for him because I was afraid I would be profiled, which I was upon arrival. He refused to go with the ambulance even though they pleaded. I think they gave him some drip because he was so dehydrated and malnourished. The next day he wasn't there and a local said he succumbed to illness that night.
I grew up there in the 70's and 80's. Last time I went there was 24 years ago. Did anyone happen to find Jason? Everywhere I went, they asked if I was Jason 😂

It's still a dump. It's an even bigger dump now.
