I love the dynamic between Gunther and rosita, how they didn't force a romance between them because she's already married to a husband who clearly loves her and kids she adores, and Gunther is just there to support her and be a good friend and it's really sweet
Right?? It seems like anytime in movies/shows when there's a friendship or anything between a male and female character, they always end up shoehorned together even if one of them is taken when they first meet, but there's never even a HINT at romance between the two despite them singing and dancing together, actions that are very often construed as romantic - they're just really good friends, and it stays that way from the very start. More shows and movies need to have stuff like this that shoes that yes, guys and girls can be just friends without romance EVER being on the table.
I really like how she faced her fear. The man who gave her a shot despite her shortcomings and brought her to the center stage of one of the biggest shows ever that when she saw buster falling with no hesitation she jumped as though she was protecting her own child. She is a mom through and through.
also the fact that Buster Moon wrote her part as the main character and you could tell in the movie that he didnt want Porsha to just take it from her moon himself said "but i wrote that part for Rosita!" before Porsha being the lil spoiled daughter that she is took it
Never ever forget that this whole entire musical. Was Gunther's idea. All of this. And I mean all of it. Even the part with Clay CAME FROM HIM! honestly I've never seen a movie where a single unsuspecting person was the essential PUSH for a movie.

Honestly I got chills during this moment. The people at Illumination really didn't have to go this hard making this scene happen, but I'm glad that they did.
I just love every part of Gunther's personality. He's so kind and unsquashably cheerful, and has such a brilliant joy and enthusiasm for the whole of life. He's just great.
I love that he and Rosita have this partnership when they perform.and a solid friendship off the stage and that it never had any kind of romantic sub plot. She has a husband and kids and Gunther loves to support her.

Well, given that we know nothing of his mother, she’s probably a surrogate. Heck, she taught him piano, and given the bundle of nerves he was in the first movie she clearly has the patience of a saint to see him through. Buster could even be argued as something of a supportive parent, as just writing on a piece of paper “natural born singer” regarding him was enough to convince him not to steal. The character dynamics in these films are incredible.
I love how this touches on the fact that people can do amazing and terrifying things when it comes to those they love. A mother can gain the strength to lift an entire car off of their child. People can overcome their fear of heights of someone they love is in danger. It’s such an interesting concept!
1:48 I love so much this part when his assistant kinda rebels against him by making the elevator going down in order to get Jimmy stuck up there. By looking at her eyes you can clearly see she says implicitly: "You went too far!".
Suki has an attitude but she's not a bad person. As she said, they weren't cut out for it. And she was right, she had to help save them multiple times.
"It's just a sequel to a fun romp film, yknow just covers of pop songs and stuff. Yall don't have to go too hard." And then every single song comes down like the Hammer of Dawn. Seriously, I liked the first film as a fun time film, but this one was unironically just *Good*. Everyone knocked their performances out of the park, but I have to say I think this one is the pinnacle of them. I literally cannot keep the groove out of my soul listening to this.
Can I draw attention to an unsung hero in this? Suki Lake. In the moment Crystal tried to kill Buster, she decided she was sick of his bs and trapped him up there for Big Daddy to nab.
I love how likeable all of these characters are. I love how they genuinely care about each other instead of getting the “reluctant band of heroes who hate each other but are forced to work together to save the day.”
One thing I really appreciate with sing and sing 2 is that they didn't go the route of making Rosita and Gunther lovers. I feel like it would have been so easy for them to make Rosita's husband a bad husband and have Gunther be the new man that makes her life better. But no. Gunther is just a very supportive friend to everyone including Rosita, nothing more to it. Just two good friends killing it and having fun on stage.
DUDEEE this part of the movie was literal perfection. She didn’t even hesitate to save her friend and Rosita is loyal AF. To me, she was the star of the show.. not only because she saved Moon, but she had such a development. Love her.
