A High Sierra Adventure: Bishop Pass to Dusy Basin, a weekend under The Palisades

What an incredible adventure over Bishop Pass and into Dusy Basin! This alpine region of the High Sierra sits under the Palisades which play host to several of California's fourteen thousand foot peaks.
I had some issues along the way like forgetting my shoes and unintentionally letting a marmot eat my wool shirt, but those were solvable problems and the trip was an epic success in the end.
I learned a bit about the difficulty of high altitude cross-country travel, and will plan accordingly in the future. This stuff is tough! Fun, but tough nonetheless.
Bishop Pass, and Dusy Basin beyond it, are among the most scenic and accessible high mountain regions in the High Sierra. If you ever have the opportunity I highly recommend taking the trip. It's possible to do this as a day hike, but the sunrise and sunset are really what's worth seeing up here. Get after it and enjoy those mountains!
