BMI is a very good indicator of body fat %. BMI is just the ratio of height to weight so because she already knows her height, her weight is the important factor in figuring it out.

Body Mass Index is just something insurance companies use to justify charging your more. If I had the reccommended BMI for my height I would look like I'd been liberated from some hard labor camp.
Sparrow BMI can be unreliable because it doesn’t account for how much muscle mass you have.
It's easier to gain body fat than muscle so most of the time if you didn't do hard labour and you gained weight, almost always your body fat is increasing

I just thought I'd put this out there. The CDC says that at 148 cm tall (4'10) a healthy BMI is somewhere between 18.5 and 24.9. If Japan's ideal model weight at 148 cm is 39.5 kg, then that would end up at a BMI of 18.0, which is underweight. Just another example of the fucked up expectations that people have of models. I'm not saying to glorify obesity, I want people to stop glorifying people who are at an unhealthy body weight, even if it's underweight.
With those dumb dumbs on tiktok trying to 'have pride for my weight' is just as dumb. Why can't we humans take the middle road. It's good to be healthy, not thin, not fat, just healthy. And healthy looks different across bodies

It's common measurement here in Asia. When I was in middle school I was taught that (simplified) ideal weight for boys is height-100, and as for girls is height -110. By that standard, Aqua's would be 148-110=38. Her calculation is likely a bit more complex than that so she got 39 with decimals.
Like, my own height-to-weight ratio pretty much reflects that standard (the girl one) and I'm very healthy, without looking too thin in our eyes (think realistic anime body proportions).
Japan: has a lower average height than many other countries.

So we know that her height is 148cm, and she searched for an ideal weight calculator. If we do the same, we can estimate that Aqua's age is most likely 20, placing her into the younger spectrum of Hololive.
Medically speaking, for her height any weight under 41kg would be considered unhealthy. Either lack of body fat or lack of muscle and should ideally try to aim for being 43-50kg. But that's not speaking from vanity.
Now that I think about it, maybe it's because Aqua (the actress) is a bit taller than Aqua (the canon character). But who knows?

Height, weight, and the fact that she mentioned she often used to play the game with her mom and her mom even out scores her in said game tells how much free time both people had in engaging said activity together, between the date of release of the game (Oct 2019) to now. There's also a certain age bracket where in parents play with their children, because they are so physically capable of doing so and because they have enough time to do so. Also, when she pulled out a weighing scale which she mentions it's been a while she's used it, and we know for a fact that Japanese high schools do regular health checks. She's probably a high school graduate who tried searching for a job before graduation, found something which interests her and got hired as a vtuber. Finally, this vtuber isn't even 3 years old yet, so judging from these factors, she would probably been somewhere 16-18 (average HS graduation age) when she started, and is around 18-20 now, though I'm leaning more into her being 18 and all given her personality.
