When this dropped, Cole was the First artist in 25 years to go platinum without a single feature. I remember I used to have it on repeat for weeks. Do the whole album! It’s a classic.
... giving a clear but simple example of just how much experience can teach you over time and the urgency to pass that knowledge down to your youth while they're young and you're around.
WOW....just realized the most important part of this was missed. He says there's no such thing as a life that's better than yours. How profound!!!!! Your life is not worse than anyone else's either...because it's simply that, YOURS. Since we only live once it's time that you recognize right NOW that whatever station you are at in life YOU still have the grace and beauty of THIS moment. Redeem the time to do those things that are valuable. It's songs like this that make you reflect and wonder and think that move me. So So So very marvelously done.
Note!! I love watching this. It’s like watching my 18 year old mind and my current 49 year old mind listen and comment on the same song. The way a songs meaning can change over your lifetime is unreal. Love the energy you two have.
This reaction has me tearing up. I loved that your dad was able to understand it & have articulate responses to the song. Such a simple song but the message is so powerful. Tearing up, wishing your dad was my dad. 😂❤
One of my favorite songs by J Cole and your pops explained it perfectly. I love listening to this song with my little ones in hopes they will learn something from it.
I remember being young and hearing my dad drop wisdom but felt too cool to listen to him. Your pops was providing such dope commentary and knowledge. Awesome reaction fam
I’m sure not many will see this but I just had a son and seeing this interaction made me love that I was blessed with one. I can’t wait to give my son NUGGETS as we call it as he gets older. ✊🏾
Yes!! I love how pops breaks down the songs. You guys need to do more J. Cole songs. Your pops would love deep songs like 2. Face, Grown Simba, Lil Ghetto Nxxga, Farewall, Miss America, Lights Please, Lost Ones, Get Free, Be Free, New York Times, and Johnny P's Caddy!
The message is if you seek happiness in materialistic things you will never truly be happy because you will always want better. True happiness is found in the appreciation of things you have, more so the things money can't buy. Time, love, respect etc
Pops has to react to so many good story telling songs J. Cole has. Close, Brackets, Friends, Once An Addict are such good songs J. Cole has. And he has even MORE better story telling songs.
This whole album gave me some wisdom through some tough times when I needed it for sure. Love the reactions y’all! Hope we get the privilege to see y’all react to Jcole some more 💪🏼
Pops would love " neighbors " by J cole 🔥🔥 y'all gotta react to J cole albums , cole world : the sideline story , 2014 forest hill drive , 4 your eyez only & KOD. 🥶💗
Wish pops would’ve listened to this when it first dropped, I remember when this first came out and my reaction and I’m glad there’s still people discovering j cole
bro, pops really know what j cole is saying, he got a special feeling, he has a unique perception of what the music is saying, he understands that the music affects whoever is listening in a unique way
Loved this. It was super wholesome, and It's beautiful seeing y'all interact. I'd definitely recommend 03 Adolescence and Apparently from the same album
bro i love your pops bro he was so real when talking about preseptions in music because there are so many songs that ive listened to and never understood the meaning until coming back one day and getting a whole new view and sense of appreciation for the song. truly works of art
Shout out to you Josh and Pops! Been a fan for a long time. I loved watching this one with y'all it was new to me too and I'm a Cole fan so thank you for showing me something new. I have always said, people who show you new music are important and watching this with ya'll and hearing the bars I was stopping the track and jumping out of my chair right along with ya'll. Pops your comment on how women can minimize men, is on point. Ladies, you think you want that baller of a man that ain't had nothin but a silver spoon in his mouth his whole life... You done missed the boat. The real men out there are those who grew up in the struggle, come from the dirt and you BOTH encourage and elevate each other through love, honor and loyalty and vice versa. You ain't never been rich until you have something money CAN'T buy.... You only get those riches when you 'Love Yours.' Keep moving Josh and Pops!
@@kaysnipes70Depnds who you are my man not everybody is happy with money people are broke living better lives in their perspective than most rich folks
I like that you and your pops react together. That actually a lesson in itself. Your pops has a lot of wisdoms. Also, money does make you happy. It’s just temporary happiness. Once you get it, it’s a never ending chase. Which leads you back to appreciating the small things that you thought were small. But in the end it is way bigger than money.
Pops I can’t believe you not up on Cole y’all gotta take it back now 😂 ya supporter from North Carolina highly recommends. When I first moved to NC when I was 9 Fayetteville was the first city we moved to but it’s really a melting pot bc of Fort Brag. Met so many ppl you’d never believe here. Don’t sleep.
This song always breaks me down, man. I remember hating life for the circumstances my mom had to live through to raise my brother and I. Your pops is a great man 👌🏼
He’s right, my whole life all I knew was the grind because I wanted to be a lawyer. I’ll tell you it was one hell of a grind and 5 years ago I graduated law school and passed the patent BAR exam, I can’t even put into words how happy I was for achieving my goal… well for 2 weeks anyways. I thought when I graduated law school I’d have a high paying job and have all this time to spend with my wife and it was great for a while but something was missing. It wasn’t until I became a father to my little boy 3 years ago that I found out what was missing. Now I have something to grind for again. Because every time I see my little man smile it feels like exactly how I felt when I graduated law school. I’m rather ashamed to admit it but for me it took having children to understand life is more than chasing the bag. There are levels to success but the highest level of success is being the reason someone else succeeds. None of my personal accomplishments in life mean close to seeing the accomplishments of my little boy.
@brockjensen2473 MANNNNN!!!!!!!! I so love this!!!! BIG UPS and congrats on the accomplishment of the bar. I love how music can bring so many different walks together. Patent atty?!?!? we need to talk!!! What's REALLY dope though is that the yung fella giving new reasons to grind! Almost snatched an allergic reaction because I feel that. I wish it was possible to bottle that energy up and sell it because that focus makes the difference. Nothing hits harder than when you become a hit with your kids. There is ZERO shame in realizing it took you to have children to understand there's more than a bag in life. I wish so doggone badly that I had grasped that earlier in life. If one chases their passion instead of their pension the bag comes anyway! It's the law of Magnetism. THAT is the stuff that money can't buy. Thank you for your comment sir....just made my day!!
Unbelievable truth and reaction from pops, as a massive Cole fan who related to a lot of what he raps about. it's good to see someone who wants to said that "good example" for their kids and be able to talk about that
