This actual photo is my son at age 5 he got this after having the flu and he was on antibiotics and it still didn’t help. He had to have surgery to have the mastoid bone removed. I signed a release for any medical person to use this photo he is 27 now
I was a sales rep for an Otolaryngology device company for 18 years. We sold a specialized drill system for mastoidectomies. A lot of the cases requiring a mastoidectomy were members of indigenous communities that lived in remote ares and did not have access to proper medical care. Only when the situation became severe were they flown into a city with a hospital that had an otolaryngologist on staff. I was always saddened every time I learned of one of those cases.
I have this ATLEAST once yearly, usually in my right ear.. Have had this since I was a toddler and now I'm almost 30. They told me growing up that it was just cartilage I would grow into....... Found out what it actually was 5 days ago, and right now I'm on a 6-pill-a-day antibiotic for it. Don't know what I should do, as often as I have this I will get immune to antibiotics in no time at all......
Thanks for video. Good info to understand. I have been taking chopped garlic in hot water with meals to keep ear infection at bay. I did take anti biotics for 5 days first. My ear/ face swelling cleared up. My hearing came back to normal. I was told it was outer ear infection by general doctor. I disagreed and said it felt like a midlle ear infection. Glad it is over.
I had my mastoids in both ears removed when I was about 5. (I'm now 55). I've had all the inner bones and ear drums removed. I have artificial ear drums in both ears. I now have baha hearing aid implants in both sides

@@wownicejx7408 No - my jaw and ear felt swollen, not bumps , just pressure. I could hear my heart beat easily, but could not hear well in that side.
