Finally saw them live in Austin this past weekend. What an experience. Might me be the most underrated band ever for me. I cannot listen to them without goosebumps after seeing them live. I will never forget that concert.
I saw them live in 2018 I think and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I was supposed to see them last year but they cancelled their Cleveland show so I went and saw Rise Against with the refund. Still awesome, but I’ve wanted to see RKS so bad since then lol
The vibes are uncanny in their resemblance to what it feels like at a Rainbow gathering. And from the name and the messages of the rainbow gathering in general, im almost positive this band has been to one, or a few even. For the record, a rainbow gathering is a national event that happens once a year for about a month before and a month after july 4th, and its a beautiful escape from babylon where a bunch of hippies, and anyone else who finds themselves there, are welcome to just be at peace for awhile. This music feels like what it feels like to be at a gathering, and if youve never been to one, you should look into rainbow gatherings on facebook, or anywhere really. I believe this coming year its going to be held in North Carolina

Honestly I was going through the new album not knowing how I felt after RKS was one of my favorite albums and just sucked me in it was perfect for everything I was going through at the time and I just felt the new stuff was missing some of the funk then this song kicked in and it clicked! Favorite on the album for sure!

Each song is a knockout! I've really started listening to them about a month, maybe just a few weeks ago, but every song, one after another is just so unfathomably amazing that ive been obsessing over them and it feels like I've known them forever with how much I've listened to them, but somehow each song also gets better with everything listen. This one particularly bit I'm also hooked on me.redundant and cocaine Jesus RN. It doesn't matter whether its one of their soft yet depressing songs that make at ease and anxious at the same time, or if its one of their faster, you could say more upbeat until you read the lyrics, songs that I have to nod my head to, or like a slow burn song which does all the things like this one.

This is, in all seriousness, THE greatest bit of rapping I've ever heard. Ela understands perfectly what rap is: a method of singing. One that can be used in various ways, complementing the rest of the song. The only thing that most "rappers" nowadays do is just mumble really quickly in a repetitive rhythm to an even more repetitive, basic beat and at best a catchy melody that carries the entirety of the song. That's not music, for goodness' sake. But here, Ela makes use of complex rhyme patterns, elaborate & changing rhythm, as well as rap WITH melody/song, which few ever do, for whatever reason, only ever rapping monotonously. This is so beatifully elaborate and just works in every way, I love everything about it and always use this as my go-to example for genuinely good rap. It's not just beauitiful because it's complex, that's not it, but because it is complex _and it works._ The effort went into all the right places, perfectly composed to create this masterpiece and I cannot stress enough just how much talent and skill it takes to be able to pull this off.

"and i never call back when my friends are in the car, lookin at me cuz its all they'd wanna talk about" being annoyed at the concern of your friends while you're peaking in a car w em and trying to mask... the whole "i can't feel am i still dreaming? skull on the table" seeing your own mortality when you start to get anxiety that you might've finally done too much. finally, it stops and you're on that sweet sweet depressive come down. 3:00. this is musically and lyrically fucking genius. the amount of love i have for this band is insane. my life has been changed, i love you rks

This is, in all seriousness, THE greatest bit of rapping I've ever heard.
Ela understands perfectly what rap is: a method of singing. One that can be used in various ways, complementing the rest of the song.
The only thing that most "rappers" nowadays do is just mumble really quickly in a repetitive rhythm to an even more repetitive, basic beat and at best a catchy melody that carries the entirety of the song. That's not music, for goodness' sake.
But here, Ela makes use of complex rhyme patterns, elaborate & changing rhythm, as well as rap WITH melody/song, which few ever do, for whatever reason, only ever rapping monotonously. This is so beatifully elaborate and just works in every way, I love everything about it and always use this as my go-to example for genuinely good rap.
It's not just beauitiful because it's complex, that's not it, but because it is complex _and it works._ The effort went into all the right places, perfectly composed to create this masterpiece and I cannot stress enough just how much talent and skill it takes to be able to pull this off.

genuinely genuinely genuinely... this song is exactly what being high to cope w ur shit feels like. starts off steady and vibey, but not a whole lot. slightly blurry, yknow? its like that little voice in your head, that literally sounds like the devil they reference in their music all the time: "fuck it, you should just get violently high". and its fun. then: a pause. you realize its actually hitting. 1:20. then it just keeps going up from there. even the dialogue "i dont really know where to bake that, unless you're tryna get it, in which case, my phone died, forget it." exactly how it feels to be at a party high asf and walking through a sea of people and small talk like yea, i dont give a fuck just let me vibe. "and i never call back when my friends are in the car, lookin at me cuz its all they'd wanna talk about" being annoyed at the concern of your friends while you're peaking in a car w em and trying to mask... the whole "i can't feel am i still dreaming? skull on the table" seeing your own mortality when you start to get anxiety that you might've finally done too much. finally, it stops and you're on that sweet sweet depressive come down. 3:00. this is musically and lyrically fucking genius. the amount of love i have for this band is insane. my life has been changed, i love you rks
