I actually got into Dota, because pro league games were boring and twitch recommended me BTS. One thing they did great at the time (around TI 3) is explain strategies and mechanics which helped me a lot.
I actually don't play Dota anymore, I just enjoy your content. I started watching when I was trying to compare a lot of different MOBAs and their difference in design. The rants (both about and not about dota) are often very interesting to me and I liked them so much, I stayed interested (though I also enjoyed the other games you made yourself like Sweet dreams Alex and Disastles)
Good point regarding the commentary of pro matches. As you said, they either explain that "fortify prevents buildings from taking damage for a brief period of time" or point out that it was super obvious that void spirit mid is doing some super peculiar managing of his lane at minute 3 against wind ranger because of the meta. That is they either address Herald 3 and less or leaderboard 150 and above. Pardon my exaggeration.
VERY rough math on when the fountain would have killed Baumi he was there for about 5 mins at the the end the fountain was doing 32 damage (1740-1708) it started at about 1 damage 1740 (Baumi's HP)/31 = 56 and a bit 5*56 = 280 so about 280 mins to kill Baumi Note does not include damage from heroes eg timber (as Tabby Crumch talks about is a different comment )
The damage scales, what it should be is every 5 mins the damage increases by another 32, so the damage of each hit increases. I think the formula would be like: Damage=exp(at) At t=5 damage=32 so a=ln(32/5) Then he gets hit about 4 times a second, the huts need to overcome his 1700hp and the 2.3k health regen, let's just say they need to deal 4k hp in 4 hits. That comes out to: D=1000=e^(at) which gives t=9.97 Or about 10 minutes!
@@juliang8676 There is nothing exponential there. Just plain multiplication. You multiply the damage instances by 3 and that is the total output damage on Timbersaw before reductions (of armor). Now, you take this number and multiply with 100%-reduction% (of armor) a number just a bit less than 100%. This is the damage that Timbersaw actually takes. You need to find, given that Timbersaw has 1740 hp the amount of fountain damage such that after reductions is 1741, so you divide 1741/(100%-reduction%). According to the wikia for the damage reduction from the armor this is an extremely large number ( damage reduction is about 99.5% so the fraction is 1741/0.005 =348200). So dividing this by 3 we get the number of attack instances 116067. The fountain starts with 300 damage so it is as if it has 100 initial instances which can be subtracted to find 115967 instances. It attacks 6.67 times per second so 115967/6.67 = 17386 seconds or 4.8 hours. A faster way to calculate is to get the ammount of damage needed 348200 and divide by 20 which is according to wikia the damage per second increase for the fountain which gives us 17410 a number very close to the one calculated with the other method and very close to the 280 minutes calculated by the other guy. TL;DR the fountain alone would need something short of 5 hours to kill Timbersaw (as the original comment writes).
The magic for me, while learning dota, was doing just that. Figuring out which hero goes against which, and trying to connect the logical links between what streamers said and what's going on in the game. I could see why it's not a beginner friendly game though, hahah I had to replay some clips 10 times to understand it fully... Thanks Baumi for the years of experience and knowledge!
The SF example you gave would be useful. Just honestly curious how many times they can say it in a tournament before people get sick of hearing it. So if a hero is popular this kinda stuff can easily become a problem. I feel this kinda info would work well in discussions between rounds/games or during picking phase. Then when something strange happens in a game, they explain that instance better
I can definitely agree with your sentiment about commentary, i never play dota so a lot of the time i have the dota wiki open when watching your videos to know what characters actually do.
Love these nonsense game modes. Always satisfy that "what if" curiosity that sits there in the back of the mind, also just the complete bullS that comes about from simple fun modes like this.
That first match the rubick should have just taken ES or SB's stuns from the beginning since his passive gave him so much amp. He got it near the end tho.
couldn't Rubick have fade bolted your Timber and killed you instantly? he didn't press W on you a single time the entire game. even when you camped their fountain, weird.
@@LesbianWitchAcademia sorry, i thought rubicks passive would have been overpowered :-3 especially considering the gamemode, the title of the video, and how dumb unkillable timber was. SUPER especially considering it has 325 damage base LOL
Focussing on enthusiast fans isnt a bad thing per say. They make up the bulk of viewers. But I think you might have a point where enthusiast viewer might be conflated with enthusiast player

Spirit Breaker: Every hit enemies go flying
Baumi: Complains about dota 2 documentary
Blood Seeker: WEEEEEEEEE

Game 1 is actually a mad man's shower thoughts
Just wondering how would Alchemist passive would work there or ogre magi?

He got it near the end tho.
Math says baumi would've needed to stay in the fountain for about 10 minutes to get killed by it lmao
How did no one pick necrophos first game? I feel like a 1% damage aura x10 would be strong.
first game baumi be like
vou la, quieto
bato nas torre
e vou embora

Rubick's bolt never would've done enough.
Not gonna enough, arcane supremacy only has like 260% in this mode(10× vanilla).
@@A_Kuma19 WOW, really? that's pathetic LOL... i guess i assumed they would be somewhat tuned and not just INCREASE ALL VALUES BY (X AMOUNT)
