I cant express how unbelievably hyped i got just seeing Hello Charlotte on the wheel. It (and its sequals really) is arguably one of my most favorite games ever
Yes!!!! The first game is good but in comparison to its sequels they its quite bland. I really want more eyes on the series as a whole but I think people get discouraged early on.
Right from the get-go i could tell that Hello, Charlotte was inspired by OFF. Specifically with the puppet/puppeteer gimmick and the art direction, with the black-and-white sprites against a surreal and colorful world. Charlotte definitely seems unique enough on its own though and does enough to differentiate it from its inspirations. It's still cool to see just how much Mortis Ghost has influenced the RPGMaker horror scene though
I definitely agree with Ib being one of the best -- if not the best -- RPG Maker horror game. Problem being that when you try to 100% it, especially on that first playthrough, you are looking at the frustration of having to replay the entire game. I think it's best to 100% it over multiple replays over a span of a few months, not immediately. Also, USE YOUR SAVE SLOTS if you decide to do so. Like all the time, I'm not kidding.
aye there's just so many branching paths, I really need to disect it so I can get better at using the engine. its outright criminal how far and in between open projects are
Len sent me since they know I'm way too into RPG Maker and Wolf Editor stuff. Pretty cool channel so far. About Ao Oni: I mostly agree with the comments you've made, including the game being a whole chase sequence instead of fragmented chase sequences. I will say there's something pretty novel about the game that I've not seen done in other games, which is the party menu screen. At the very end of the game, a character joins the party and every time the room transitions, the party menu shows them morphing into an Ao Oni. Always thought that trick was neat. The game was also very big on NicoNicoDouga and to this day, there's still fan remixes (more like mods) of the game that speeds the action up or include purple Oni or whatever that is. The game also includes a lot of lore, and I would say it's on the same level as Five Night at Freddy's for better or for worse. About Mad Hatter: Wolf RPG does have a lot of differences with the RPG Maker engine. For one, it's closer to something like Unity than RPG Maker's accessibility. You can include a lot of plugins and do some weird stuff. In this year's Wolf RPG Editor contest, there was even a Yume Nikki-like that included a diegetic map and employed a lot of game mechanics that probably wouldn't be possible on pre-RPG Maker VXA engines (unless it's modded 2003). The community for Wolf RPG stuff is quite different from RPG Maker too; they're more tightly-knit and take influences from each other. The music is also royalty-free. You can actually download them right now and use them in your own videos and games if you wish. I haven't played Mad Hatter yet, but I imagine the reason the music works for the game is because the developer picked some unique ones that fit the atmosphere quite well. Anyway, not a bad video. I'll watch more when I have the time. My personal recommendations are Towelket 2 and SWOLLEN TO BURSTING UNTIL I AM DISAPPEARING ON PURPOSE.
Absolutely FELT the glowing eyes ultimate power at rolling Ib, lol. Love that game to bits. I’m in much the same place as you, too - one of my favorites, the thing that actually got me more into horror as a genre, a perfect entry point. God, Ib is so good.
Genuinely frothing at the mouth that this video didn’t get the love it deserves. Wonderful writing, pacing, editing, and content! You seem like a total professional already! And you use music from Utopia? Hell yea
(Not so) Fun Fact: In order to get the true ending of Witch's House, you actually just need to get a knife from one of the rooms to the side while Viola is chasing you. Ellen stabs Viola, slowing her down and allowing her to monologue. You don't need to beat the game without saving to get it.
I absolutely adore Ib. I don't really play horror games, I don't have the stomach for it, but I played Ib all the way through. The music has stuck with me many many years later. I love it so much.
This video is such a treat! Found your channel through the Stalkers in Horror video, but this thing is exactly the stuff I love hearing people talk about. The amount of hype when Ib came up on the wheel dude, like SO correct it is an absolute masterpiece. The soundtrack and sound design as well are so amazing! And the creativity that went into the gallery and the puzzles is so good. That game is a huge source of inspiration for my own work and it was great to hear your enthusiasm on it! Garry my beloved....
I just have to laugh at how the wheel in this video made me react. Every time you would spin it I would get excited and go "C'mon, Ib Ib Ib Ib Ib" then groan a little when you got another one (even though with the exception of Hello Charlotte I played all of the ones you talked about as a teenager), then when on the fifth roll it landed on Ib I literally cheered out loud at my laptop screen. Kind of embarrassed for myself but it means you've done an excellent job making the video (at least when it comes to a person who is exactly in the target audience :P)
You don’t get the true ending for Witch’s house by beating the game without saving, you just need to go to a room on the first floor and get a knife from a cupboard, beating the game without saving just gives you different text before the final chase of the game
It is absolutely criminal that your videos don't get more views, the editing and comedic timing are consistently top notch. Plus it's always nice to see coverage and love for horror games, especially when you showcase the weirder and lesser known stuff!
instant subscribe for hello charlotte (but also bc youre genuinely funny and i love your editing style and your scripting). im so glad the wheel landed on it and that you also played through the entirety of (at least) the mainline series. its one of my favourite series of all time and etheranes approach to tackling trauma / mental illness, gender, identity, relationships, sociopolitical topics, and philosophy on a personal and systemic level is really well done as they honed their skill for their craft. i do recommend their other works tomorrow wont come for those without --- (if you like biblically accurate angels and religious trauma), and mr rainers fix it service! also recommend your turn to die by nankidai. it wasnt on the wheel but was released in 2017 and has one final part to come out. took a while to gain more traction and attention globally outside of japan, but is definitely considered a giant in the rpgmaker horror genre now imo c: banger video, king! (also if you ever get around to make that rule of rose video,,,,, :3c)
I hadn't thought of Mad Father in years!!! I forgot how much I loved it and its concepts. And Ib shocks me by how short it is for how heavily it sits in my mind and how I think of it routinely 10 years since I first learned of it. I appreciate how you approach horror and the genuine appreciation you have for the whole genre. It's refreshing.
im so glad that hello charlotte got picked as one of the games on the wheel, let alone got spun. i love the series and it became massive brainrot for me.
I was enjoying the video, you spun the wheel at the last game n got a game I loved. I audibly said "hell yeah ib, I love that game good shit" then your first words were pronouncing it correctly while telling me I said it wrong n I've never felt personally attacked lmao. The timing was on point n it hurt. Good video I'm enjoying the stuff yer doing bud
I love the concept of this video so much! Its also incredibly entertaining and I genuinely love watching this! It's really nice to see someone talking about something I love so much!
God I wish there was a 2nd part because seeing .flow in that wheel had me HYPED, not to mention while I'm vaguely familiar with some other names in there I'd love to hear your thoughts on them just as you sold me to try Hello, Charlotte.
I am so overwhelmingly happy to see someone talking about RPG maker horror games!!! They got me into video games and remain my favourites. And the presence of Hello Charlotte! Such an incredible trilogy.
Ib also got me into horror and horror games!! It was my favourite for so long (Also, I just realized this video is old. From whence did it appear on mt recommended?)
when you mentioned IB i was so ecstatic literally would watch any playthrough i could find when i was younger I'm so glad you talked about it !!!!! this video was soo entertaining
...why did youtube put a video from 2 years ago on my timeline as if it was a brand new thing? I'm very surprised on finding out that Mad Father is not an rpg maker game, despite never having played it, because... in some of the maps (most of them shown in this video, really) there is unmistakeably the default rpg maker assets, even if some are editted or added - assets that you supposedly are not allowed to use in games made with other engines. Those assets (known as rtp, from the package that you install in older versions of it that is shared among any other games of the same rpg maker version you have - despite it being abandoned with mv) being used with barely any editting, menus and sometimes battle system included (many times with yanfly plugin to make it different, but still kept similar enough people just call them rtp part 2) are kind of the signature of amateurish rpg maker games, and thus are what push away many first time players from games that use them. So most rpg maker games kinda try to go away from those assets as much as possible. Yet Mad Father, which is not even an rpg maker game, uses them...
my sister played Ib a long while ago so when i played it myself for the first time sometime before the remake came out, i knew the twists and some puzzle answers, as well as like, how the endings are determined- well i knew everything before i played it the first time basically. And now it's just like, a casual comfort game for me. I can just pick it up, get halfway through the game in 30 minutes, then shut it off without thinking twice. in the remake there's a steam achievement for completing the gallery. I was missing a single painting that I needed Garry to read for me in the ah deeper gallery. I proceeded to spend around 4+ hours trying to get Garry there but somehow i kept messing it up and proceeded to have a deeply traumatizing experience where i was basically stuck in a time loop. no i do NOT know how in hell that happened, but i guess i had to talk to him more than like once. absolutely insane that i got that ending that many times in a row. ANYWAY I wanted to talk about a completely different rpg maker horror game called Prom Dreams which is a slightly earlier riff on traditional dating sims (it came out in 2016) and it's wonderful. I recommend it- though there are some things that are a bit iffy. 11/10 Got me excited to read Hamlet.
As a RPGmaker fan, my fave was Paranoiac. The game, though a bit light on gameplay really made me care about the main protagonist and her struggles being back in her old family home. Also Mad Father is always a good play (but the dad’s dialogue regarding Aiya always made me pause and reset, gross ass man)
I loved this video! Quick edits, good pacing, you are presenting everything very well, great choices of musics (even some bossa nova)! Happy to have found you.
Kind of hoping you make a second video in this series because I want to see more people play re:kinder. that game is very underrated, along with the rest of parun's other body of work.
this was so good an awesome video! im glad you talked about witch's house and IB as those are both my favs. your sense of humor is also really cool. hoping for more in the future
I got into space funeral and decided to make my own little rpgm games. It was the punk aspect … I lived in the flat middle of nowhere, the nearest grocery store was an hour away. I’m grateful for that era because it was really happening and everything coming out was fresh and everybody played each others shit. This got recommended to me and I've never been so happy to have clicked on a video. Your video quality is insane. Plus, there can never be enough videos about rpg maker horror games.

IVE BEEN TRYING FOR YEARS TO REMEMBER WHAT RPGMAKER GAME MY BEST FRIEND SHOWED ME ON TH-cam WHEN I WAS 11!!!! And I just randomly decided to watch this video on my lunch break and now I can finally go back and play Ib for myself now that I know what it’s called! I’m very excited honestly
im in love with this editing, honestly, the title card for the video?? top shit, loved it. also, i think the takes on these 5 games were super good and i liked the presentation a lot!! imma watch more >:D
That scene of Possum (2018) 27:41 , I have not seen Possum, but I have seen scenes of it that have given me nightmares, the premise unsettles me deeply. I will never watch Possum. I will probably watch Possum.
Hello, Charlotte 11:10 Oh this art-style reminds me of OFF. Must be a coincidence. 11:35 "A puppet. Basically a living being that exists to be controlled by a puppeteer"... Yeah, no. Not a coincidence.
ib was my veru fisrt rpg game AND horror game. i played it in sixth grade and it changed my life >< i see its influence in my writing and art i love it so much
Maybe I just love a lanky white boy talking abt nerd shit in front of a green screen. Really tho can't believe you've been making this content for years and yourube just hasn't fed it to me till now. Hopefully all the time and hard work starts paying off, get boosted 🤞
Black nails , bad body posture , 70s Charles Manson young years look , talking about rpg maker horror games , what can go wrong.....
In my book, those are what I look for in "People who talk about RPG Maker Horror Games"
To get Ib, Misao, and Mad Father in the same three rolls is like the holy trinity of RPGmaker horror game era iconics
Hello charlotte supporter till I die 🗣️
But third, of course.
I’m still confused by hatred to the triquel.
Based
its soo good
ah yes, the universal experience of falling head over heels for garry
i just want to say as a fellow ib enthusiast your opinions are immaculate and correct
Ib, Mad father and the Witch´s house are some of my favorite games ever. I even named my bunny Ib when we got her!
Right from the get-go i could tell that Hello, Charlotte was inspired by OFF. I was really surprised to not see OFF on the wheel
I immediately saw that as well, made me really happy. OFF is the goat
i've been thinking about OFF lately; i really need to play it again. it's fantastic.
“Ib reminds me of Rule of Rose and anything that reminds me of Rule of Rose is great in my book” 100% correct opinion, also why I love Ib so much
I definitely agree with Ib being one of the best -- if not the best -- RPG Maker horror game. hello charlotte ep3 makes me go down a depressive episode so I play it once a year LMFAO. It makes me sob so much, I adore it.
god this video rules. you deserve WAY more attention than you currently get. keep it up!! (i really should play ib...)

I started violently stimming when I saw Re:Kinder on the list. Gotta be on of my top 4 favorite RPG maker horror games
I see hello charlotte mentioned = I am happy
I absolutly love the editing and style of your videos
my sister played Ib a long while ago so when i played it myself for the first time sometime before the remake came out, i knew the twists and some puzzle answers, as well as like, how the endings are determined- well i knew everything before i played it the first time basically.
I loved this video! Quick edits, good pacing, you are presenting everything very well, great choices of musics (even some bossa nova)! Happy to have found you.
the fact fear and hunger isn‘t included is downright criminal!
YOOOO mermaid swamp and desert nightmare! Childhood trauma has just been unlocked 😂
Screaming and chanting in excitement when the wheel landed on ib .. literally my favorite game evurrrr lets GOOOO
so when’s the cool flip happening?
I got into space funeral and decided to make my own little rpgm games. It was the punk aspect … I lived in the flat middle of nowhere, the nearest grocery store was an hour away. I could make friends and break some personal barriers and be apart of a real scene. I’m grateful for that era because it was really happening and everything coming out was fresh and everybody played each others shit. I think indie game dev is still fun but it was better when we didn’t take it so seriously
There's def something to be said about how important sound design and music are to separating doodoo dookie rpgmaker games from the cream of the crop, but I'm not gonna say it in 1 TH-cam comment! Great video dude!!
I officially love this channel, and the tone you bring to it. My kinda content.
I haven’t thought about desert nightmare in so long so it was weird to see footage of it 😂
The combo of rule of rose and wonder egg priority listed as media similar to hello charlotte has sold me on trying it out
Hell of a good video dude, really appreciate getting more of your insight into horror games after your excellent P.T. vid. Definitely interested in checking out Ib now.
Also enjoyed that Z push!! dance a lot lmao
Literally gasped when I saw Ib on the wheel and then kept chanting it everytime the wheel spun. That game shaped my early teen years and it's one of the best games I have ever played. I adore it so so much.
Also hard agree Garry is the perfect guy and honestly my peak gender envy as a nonbinary person. Love whatever he has going on.
my first horror rpg, where ib, mad father, misao and mogeko castle (not a game i should have played as a 12 year old), i loved the little details, though i could never for the life of me get garry to the end alive though i preffer misao to those games cause is just silly and sad with the backstory
dessert nightmare ib, and misao are my absolute favourite and bring childhood nostalgia
This got recommended to me and I've never been so happy to have clicked on a video.
Your video quality is insane. Plus, there can never be enough videos about rpg maker horror games.
I got clickbaited by .Flow….. we’ll get em next time boys
this video was recommended to me by complete chance on here and i need to say it absolutely had my attention from the get go and im so surprised it hasn't got more views. don't now if you're still doing youtube, but i enjoyed this video very much, thank you for sharing

Paranoiac is my favourite (even though it’s by no means the best) RPGMaker horror game and I’d love to see your take on it eventually!
have you played OFF by Mortis Ghost? it's a classic rpg maker horror in my eyes. the original is in french but there's an english translation
this is sick dude you should make more of these wheel of rpgmaker videos, i wanna play hello charlotte so bad now
