Thanks so much for this Paul, it REALLY means a lot to have you as a patron and to feature on your lovely channel! Thank you SO much - it really means the world to my one-man micro-business! :)
I was innocently reading the old Dr Who novel Love & War by Paul Cornell last night and suddenly came upon Paul Magrs as a fictional character and the Paul Magrs Door! 😆
You are so right about people that slab their comics in plexiglass being like lepidopterists. Actually I think they are worse, at least the lepidopterists think of their butterflies as an investment.
Massive nostalgia rush from these comics, I used to get them weekly ad well and still have a load of them tucked away in my attic which I'm now going to have to dig out.
I don't know how I didn't know there was a Star Wars weekly comic and never bought one! I still have my Empire Strikes Back annual, which I cherish. It has some original comic strips - and I have a lasting memory of one story about a red crystal. Fantastic!
Very nice. I'm roughly two train stops away from Cromford, I go there fairly often. Also agree entirely on the Ewok song at the end of Return of the Jedi. What they replaced it with is, comparatively, completely lifeless.
As a proper youtuber, you are required to say you are "literally obsessed!" In this case, for the first time, this may be the correct phrase to use. And, I don't know if you have mentioned Skeleton Crew? A Kids on Bikes story in Star Wars... I, for one, loved it.
I collected the American Marvel Star Wars comics back then, still have about a dozen of them (I lost most of my comics in a flood back in the late 1980s). The only time I've seen any of the UK "Star Wars Weekly" comics were in the "Original Marvel Years" omnibus collections , but it seems like the comics you're showing are black & white versions of the American Star Wars monthly comics. The comics I've seen in the omnibus editions were not from the American Marvel comics but their own distinct run of stories. So it appears that the UK Star Wars weekly comics includes extra content not available to the American readers. I guess it makes sense since the weekly cadence of the UK version means they'd need additional content, otherwise they'd burn through the American monthly comics content pretty quickly. I guess my only question is, were the American monthly color Star Wars comics not available in the UK? If so it seems like a more than reasonable tradeoff; you weren't getting the comics in color but you got more Star Wars content than American readers got. I assume the "Star Wars Weekly" comics were printed in black & white merely to keep them as affordable as possible, considering 52 B&W comic books were being printed per year vs. the 12 per year in America?

Love the way you smell books and comics. Scents of these things bring back a host of happy memories for me.
Socks was just sure that package had Dreamies in it 😂

I love the videos where you show off your comics and book collections!!
I’ve got the dvds with the original cuts on but they are only laserdisc transfers.

I note Star Wars comics were 10p back in the day, cannot imagine how much they'd cost nowadays !

I stopped Disney Plus over a year ago when Theo rice went up, so I haven’t seen it yet!
