If You are need of making transparent backgrounds on your logos or images then watch this full video. I do it all for FREE in Canva and Lunapic no photoshop needed.
Hey James, thanks for the insight. However I'm having trouble pasting he picture into canva. It still appears with the check-like background in canva. I watched your video countless times trying to see the problems but I can't find it. I followed everything you did but still. Please help
James can u help me, I did exactly as shown in the video, but the gif I used; it has some notable flaws and doesn't completely make the whole background transparent.
thank you so much for this. On my image, on lunapic I had to select "apply" and then click the white inside of each letter, the circular part inside the "O" and "D" and each time I made it transparent, I had to click "apply" and then do the next one over and over until I made all of the spaces in the letters transparent. Thanks for saving me lots of money!!!!
When making your background transparent, there will be a "mode" option. Choose "transparent colour" instead of "transparent area". That will save you the hassle of going in each letter to remove the colour
Thank you so much, this video was very helpful! I noticed there is a drop down menu "MODE". You can change this from, "Transparent Area," to "Transparent Color." This will allow you to make the entire background transparent including inside letters. That way you don't have to use the eraser tool!
May I just say, you made me so much money off this LOL. I'm a new graphic designer and this is the best hack ever. Oddly enough I had 5 clients ask about the background being transparent just today. THANK YOUUU!!!
very helpful video straight to the point unlike other people talking for 15 min what they gonna do and how they gonna do and at the end nothing works Here is 360 if everyone would have same approach as you we all would live in better place
Hi James - Maybe an obvious question. If I want to take a photo with my camera and turn it into a PNG with a transparent background, would it be best to have even lighting and a white background? Thanks!
Hi Edward, Yes, White background and definitely even lighting works good then you can bring it in Lunapic and make the background transparent. What ever you are taking a picture of just make sure it is not white so it does not blend with the background.
Very good video, thanks for posting. How about if you're using your own photo instead of downloading one from the internet, does your own photo have to be PNG?
Your image or logo needs to have a transparent background. Not every PNG file has a transparent background. but for example if you google Instagram icon Transparent background png file you will find a logo that is on a transparent background because someone already created it that way. If you have an image or logo that is yours that you want to use over another image or layout in Canva you need to edit it yourself first. You can use lunapic to create a transparent background here is a good tutorial on that th-cam.com/video/y41MLM8dOmE/w-d-xo.html
Awsome... It was taking me forever to try and find a way to do this. Most of the online tools were just for making graphics transparent. Great video..Thanks again!
Except Canva won't let me load the transparent file and drag it over to the picture I am trying to lay the transparent backed logo over. Just shows up as a big white background like it was before. Any ideas how to finish the job?
Thanks for the great how-to. So for TH-cam videos, that is public and not personal use, right? So we should pay attention to the copyright use on any png downloads right?
thanks, however when using lunapic to make transparent background it doesn't keep or allow you to keep the merch required 4500x5400 dimensions. Any comment/suggestion?
The only problem with this is that it *down-sizes the image* when you *save it..* Even if u save it in the same format the Dimensions change from the original image This does not work for T shirt printing Merch by Amazon which requires 4500x5400 px
Hello James! Hope you are doing great. I wanted to thank you so much for making this video. It really saved my day. Now I can continue to work with my upcoming tutorial video. Have a great day! One love / JP
Your surename is Kuck? Was school brutal? I've seen people get terrorised for less. Nice video too Just an FYI, you dont have to wait for uploaded image to load onto canva before you can work with it, you can click/drag immediately.
Great video! Just what I was looking for. Quick question! How do you know which images from google (for eg. the flower one) are copyright free? Sorry if this is a stupid question :)
Sorry for the late response have been overwhelmed with comments and questions over the last few months. If you are using a big brand icon or image like Facebook logo you can get away with a quick Google search but if you are looking for a specific image you do have to be careful about copyrights. I suggest you look on pexels and pixabay for free images. Also canva has some free stock images.
Leroy as long as the logo or image you are putting over the background is a different color and has a png transparent background you can lay it over any background
You can get a png photo right from Google of just about anything but If you need to create a png photo or a custom logo I suggest using photo shop. You can check out this quick tutorial th-cam.com/video/BEiDlB8avMY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks man. Saved my money. ✌️😭 Update: when u save the edited image from the site, the size is reduced too much. So what's the use? Suggest something else.

Thank you for the vedio. What can I use after a 30 day trial in Canva? Could I use Inkscape? Or Gimp
great hack bro. but FYI... PNG is a just a file type like JPG. it doesnt mean that the background is transparent.
Hey Eric, You are right. I think most people understood the hack but I could have explained that part better. Thanks for the feedback.
Easy. Thank you. Do you know how to take a small PNG and enlarge without loosing pixels?
Awsome... It was taking me forever to try and find a way to do this. Most of the online tools were just for making graphics transparent.
Great video..Thanks again!

Thank you so much, you saved my time and made things easier

Hey James! After I search the image on google and click on save as i can only see the Save As and the Where. No Format option there :( Help
Brilliant! This is what I've been looking for!
Thanks Lilly!
Works! Thank youuuu
Thanks for watching
How do you make custom transparent imagine thats not white colored backround? Like games
You have to bring the image in Lunapic and then used the edit -->>Transparent background feature
thanks, however when using lunapic to make transparent background it doesn't keep or allow you to keep the merch required 4500x5400 dimensions. Any comment/suggestion?
The only problem with this is
that it *down-sizes the image*
when you *save it..*
Even if u save it in the same format
the Dimensions change
from the original image
This does not work for
T shirt printing
Merch by Amazon
which requires 4500x5400 px
I just noticed this too. Have you found a solution or an alternative?
Thanks. It was very helpful
Thanks BD Lad

I have an additional shape in my logo. When I save with a transparent background the shape is still solid. How can I work around this?
This is great for makeing pictures with canva transparent, but how do I change the resolution from 96dpi to 300dpi On lunapic?
