Thanks for all the guides, I recently completed my last Halo LASO which I wanted to end on the Halo 3 warthog run. I now have the LASO Master achievement so thank you. Took me a long time but it was actually a fun journey.
@@fanamatakecick97 Best trick I learned is to get the timing down to jump over elites when they lunge at you with an energy sword and you turn around and hit them mid-air. If you stick one with a sticky grenade they always go berserk after that. The heretic elites though will go berserk and drop their gun like they would go berserk, but they won't die to the grenade and they now are holding no gun and won't attack you. So just punch them in the back.
i'd say i actaully had the most fun doing h2 laso. h3 and h1 laso were kind of nightmares lol and im halfway through h4 laso, which is the least fun ive ever had
I started this video expecting a series of actionpacked shooting. Then I saw the length of it and scratched my head a bit. These kinds of challenges, much like speed runs, are all about crazy tricks rather than first person shooting skills. It is no less impressive, however. Bungie made its Halo games pretty clean. If played as intended you never rarely run into any obvious bugs. It is always cool to see how people play with that sandbox and find the most obscure ways to bend the rules of the games to skip things and reach area that are usually blocked. Cool series.
Cool to see the banshee grab explained so clearly. Was kinda hoping you'd cover the banshee teleport as well but I suppose you don't really need it given that all the enemies have despawned. Thanks for the guides!
Lol this would've been cool to know a year ago but at least MCC is finished for me. I'll never understand why you have so few subscribers you helped me through every LASO and Legendary Speedrun achievement + probably 200 other small ones.
Dude, between this man and the comments, these achievements don’t stand a chance. For those of you questioning if this was patched, as of July 17, 2021 on Xbox, No. some tips that helped me from the comments: 1- try standing in the middle of the line instead of the left. 2- the second the nose of the banshee points down after hitting the door, move to the other end of the door. I managed to get it twice in a row after doing both. The first time, however, the banshee splattered me on the way down.

No lie spent over an hour attempting this using other guides watched this video and did it first attempt. You explain it wayyyyy better than other videos do

In all seriousness, if it took you 51 tries like it did for me, it really is just the precision of the timing and the location of where you are. The RNG of the grunts plays a big factor and if you're on computer turn down your FOV I hear that helps. Godspeed to anyone who's made it this far.
Standing towards the middle of the line worked better in my case. After so many tries towards the left I went in the middle and he flipped first try. Love this vids!
Not sure if the banshee trick got harder, but it took me an hour. Seemed far more reproduce-able when doing my speedrun. You gotta be VERY precise on where you stand, when and how long you crouch for. Wait for the banshee to scrape the wall then move to the corner of the white wall. As soon as you touch it strafe left. It might help that when you move forward and strafe left, do that motion and stop don't hold down (and walk into a wall). Watching GarishGoblin do it, for an alternate perspective, also helped (as I think he's the one who discovered it).
Wow I did it on the 4th try it took me more try’s getting threw the 1st section with enough health... you are the man. I’m pumped I’m never good at these jumps and gimmicks that mess with the ai, but this was comprehensive. I just said screw it on truth and rec tho I couldn’t get the Nade jump so I just fought my way up... nightmare stuff but we’re on our way!
The hardest part for me was getting the backsmack on the elite, he was a lot closer to the door and his route wasn’t as long ): I did the banshee bit Easy! Splattered myself once tho lol
Ngl I've tried this a few times both with save and quit and full resets, and even with full health and shields, I just die to the grunts, and the banshee doesn't even go where I want anyway. This is gonna be a pain to get through.
@@Murasame13 There's no enemies for the rest of the level and the vehicles still give points. There's no reason to NOT get the par score and time as well. I just did it by only destroying 2 wraiths (1 with the first banshee and 1 with the second).
@@MintyLime703 And for those such as myself, I had neither par score nor time and wanted to get LASO done first (I've already played the games a dozen years ago). I never expected to get par time achievements in my LASO runs but a few did happen. Par score though, while not the priority, is VERY easy to get in LASO because of the crazy 17x multiplier and that iron forces you to save/quit (if you want to save your sanity) which preserves your score in CE and 2. This level in particular is VERY easy to get both par time and score because the empty vehicles still give score. Unless you're trying to make a WR attempt, there's no point in skipping par score as it only takes 2 (empty) wraith kills which is easy enough even in within the par time's limit.

The first day I tried to get the elite out of the banshee I attempted it probably around 20 times and couldn't get it to work. Second day I tried I did it right on my first attempt. My jaw was dropped in disbelief for a good minute. So it is possible but probably a little bit of luck/RNG I'm guessing. Btw thanks for the vids man you're truly meant for this.

-note from a PC player: The banshee grab is no different, just requires patience. I like to have the t.v on in the background so I have something to listen to. Took me half an hour but I got it.
I managed to splatter Chief in the end cutscene with the Banshee. The cutscene kept going with the dialogue and all but the Chief remained dead through all of it, just lying there... After a while he was kind of standing up but in the lying dead position... at least it didn’t fail me the mission
Edit: This has since been patched, and the Banshee is now working correctly. Something worth noting if you are on PC, FOV and Framerate do affect this skip, so make sure you have the default FOV of 78, and cap your framerate at 60. Hope this helps! DISCLAIMER TO ANYONE WHO IS COMING HERE AS OF THE 2022 AUGUST UPDATE: Currently the Banshee grab is bugged, and the banshee will not go to the right spot to perform this skip. The problem has been fixed internally, but will probably not be implemented into the game fully until the next major content update, which I believe is in November.
Bit of advice for anybody attempting this now. You can probably see from other comments that the banshee trick currently no longer works, meaning that the cliff jump is the only other option. However the problem with this is that the banshee will constantly follow and shoot at you when you get down. I find that just destroying it before you jump off the bridge much easier. When you leave the first door, clear out all the grunts, then shoot at the banshee when it gets close, it's relatively easy to destroy. Now just clear out the rest of the bridge, keeping your health as high as possible. You should get a checkpoint just before the sword elite comes out at the far end. Turn around and try the jump again until you get it. It's a bit tedious having to walk across the bridge everytime but at least now there's no banshee.
Will also add that if you do the cliff jump, you will end up with a bugged door near the end of the run. Rather than run the "normal" route, go to the end of the canyon and grab the banshee just sitting there and fly up instead, to skip the locked door.
What do you mean? I just did it. I did it on legendary pre-patch for my speedrun and just did the banshee skip about an hour ago, even with the latest patch.
@@truthless4720 I did it on PC. It is a very precise trick to pull off, and Garish Goblin has a better instruction for the skip. There's a slightly different way he does it that is more consistent.

Works as of may 2024. My issue was position due to too many hits, then standing up at the right time. Duck until you see him, stand up, wait until he flies towards you then walls
By god, it took me 50 tries and moving on to H2 for a couple weeks before coming back to this, but I actually pulled off the Banshee grab. I eventually reached a zen state of attempting the grab, failing, switching to the bridge descent, failing, save/quit>resume (to keep my time down), and surrending all expectation of ever succeeding when it suddenly *worked.* I was so shocked that almost let the Elite I just skyjacked shoot me down. The endorphine rush of getting to the end of the level in just 6:06 is better than sex.
this is my favorite mission in CE followed by the library, really hoping I clear this one a lot easier than I will that one. You'll know I needed this guide if there are 6 comments from me bitching about it
Ever since the August update, the banshee flies in from the wrong angle to perform this. However, when you're in the hallway before the bridge if you turn around and go back to the previous load zone, come back to the bridge load zone, than back again to the previous load zone, and finally back to the bridge load zone the banshee appears to fly a lot lower again like it was supposed to.
I still can't seem to get this to work though. And I've tried the bridge drop hundreds of times. I can't land the second drop, I always slide off. I'm beginning to think I might actually have to fight my way through this level.
Seeing stuff like the banshee grab really makes you wonder how much trial and effort (and blind luck) went into figuring out the exact places to stand and go, the exact actions to take, and the exact timing to do it in. 5/46
I can't seem to get the Banshee pilot to eject from his seat, even though I can get the banshee to go where I want to, multiple consecutive times, and even get it stuck, the elite never ejects from his seat and often times I'm forced to deal with the curious grunts that show up. This is after presumably around 20-30 tries.
That's a fantastic tutorial for the banshee grab. A shame it took me a couple hours to find out that skip was broken in an update. I had to do the bridge drop in stead. The first time I succeeded I got in the tank and accidently shot the tree when aiming for the banshee following me and killed myself. The second time I succeeded I got in the tank and missed the banshee, then died to a banshee bomb. The third time I spent several minutes shooting the banshee from behind a tree with 1 bar of health left until it died and I finally followed the path to clear the level. In total I probably spent about 5 or 6 hours on this level. I'm just glad it's over now.
Damn, this is a great skip! It's so difficult to pull if you don't know what to do though. The best advice I found when I did this is that you don't have to be exact with your placement when moving from the left side of the door to the right side. The main thing your trying to do there is to get the banshee at a weird angle, causing the elite to eject like you would if the vehicle got turned upside down. So your main goal is to like, move in a way that would cause the pilot to eject. Idk why but whenever I attempted this, the banshee would fly in super fast, and moving straight to the right would cause it to free itself. However, when I moved away from the door I managed to get the elite to fall out. I recommend trying this the way the video directs to for a bit, and if that doesn't work, then try to move either further into the door, or away from the door on that third step. If you search "aotcr banshee grab mcc" in TH-cam and watch a few of the videos it might make it a bit easier to visualize. Hopefully this helps!
The Banshee tricks works in Co-op. Your partner will teleport forward, but it won't trigger any enemies to spawn. I also discovered it helps having your FOV at the default value. For whatever reason having it too wide messes up the timing.
I have beaten reach and 3 and up to this on laso up and until this point, I have never quit a mission. This banshee grab is harder than any other trick I’ve pulled
Alright first of all thank you for the video Silver!❤ I'm on PC tried for two hours straight this is still doable just very hard.. I tried to mess with FOV cause on your footage it definitely looks different when I line up with the tile but it shouldn't matter as far as I can tell just line up perfectly with the line also left/right movement shouldn't matter too much for me it worked out when I ran out to the very right of the door. I had the most issues with the line up it always flew off before it crashed, the running part was fine though I got squished the first time 😅
Just when i was about to give up and man through this humongous mission and have to deal with not forgetting to save and quit all the way through i finally did the banshee trick after 2 hrs lol.

Extremely finicky but still works on PC as of August 2022. Took me about 50 tries once I could consistently get the banshee to turn into the wall. Tip: I noticed standing a couple inches in front of the line seems to make the banshee's right hand turn into the wall more consistent where standing on the line or slightly behind the line made it turn left, away from the wall, more often.
spent an evening trying to get that damn banshee to fall :') Woke up & said fuck it ill drop off the bridge... nah even more time spent trying to get a pinpoint accurate jump Switched back to the banshee fall & she turns upside down on the first try :')))
For anyone having issues with the banshee grab, I personally would limit your attempts to 5, if you don't manage it after 5, don't bother, otherwise you'll waste hours in which time you'd have played through normally anyway Alternatively, I recommend the bridge fall skip, it's in my opinion, superior Simply because, it's all in your control, there's no rng with the banshee, don't need pixel perfect position and hope that the elite actually gets out when he's supposed to, I spent literally hours trying the banshee skip, couldn't get it to work, wether it was the elite not coming round or just simply not getting out when he gets jammed at the top Vs doing the bridge fall, it took me half hour of practice to get it and now I can do it pretty consistently, only offence is you have to run run for a bit to the next area where you get a ghost and can drive through with no enemies, then when you get the area where theres 2 bridges above, theres a banshee at the back, grab that and fly up to where he does in this video them continue as he does, far more consistent, skips are all about saving time, if you have to waste hours trying to do a skip, then it isn't a skip, it's a waste of time
@@HaloCompletionist i actualy managed to do it with a lot of practicr and its the most annoying thing to do. It still despawns the enemies, only you have a warthog instead of a banshee. I only did this on legendary and not laso
I’ve tried that, it’s not really viable past heroic, because you constantly move around while the pelican descends, making it tricky to stay on, and the banshee is scripted to bomb it as it descends. Past heroic difficulty, the bomb will insta-kill you.
It would've been nice to explain where exactly to look when your on the 4th square. Like it doesn't look like your looking down as far as you can so looking to the left of the middle does not help me at all when we're looking at the same spot from 2 different angles. I'll eventually get it though and i do appreciate the help but man this glitch is frustrating
As of September 2022, the banshee grab is patched. I was able to successfully complete this level using the older method of dropping off the bridge to get to the ground (I guess this was the glitch to do before the banshee glitch was found)? The one caveat (or difference) is when you walk out on the first bridge, the banshee is basically flying straight towards you. The banshee will be following you as you decent the cliff. I was able to survive until I got to the tank and destroyed it there. Once you walk towards the end of the level and you are under the two bridges, you have to grab the banshee on the ground floor and take it to the door that will lead you to the land bridge (usually with the two banshees on it). If you try to go through that part as usual, you'll go up the elevator, go across the first of the two bridges, and find a locked door. Really just saying this so no one wastes the time like I did going up there for no reason.
Thanks this comment just saved me. I went through the mission like normal and the door was locked. i didnt even know there was a banshe on the ground level but there is. Also anyone else thats stuck. Go rab the banshee from the ground level then go onto the 2nd bridge. (the one with the locked door on it) thats where the level continues on
Just completed this level, with the banshee skip, (don't ask how many attempts) but I haven't been given the achievement plus I've been moved onto 343 and can't go back? Any ideas?
So can confirm. I suck at doing this because I’m literally getting him stuck every time and he just flies off or splatters me. If only there was a way to hijack banshees. Maybe in the next game. Lol
Can confirm: the banshee grab is currently patched. Upon loading the area, two “allies” are spawned then despawned to wake up the enemies and redirect the banshee. Edit: it's back
That explains it. I thought I must be doing something wrong. Whole game has been messed up by the latest patch. I keep having to use modern graphics as things like weapons, vehicles, enemies, doors, rocks and trees are randomly invisible in classic graphics sometimes for me, and Silver had invisible enemies (not like camo, i mean FULLY invisible) in a Halo 2 LASO stream this week. Something has clearly broken.
I already wrote this comment on the video but I'm gonna leave it here too. Here it goes: I can't believe I got stuck on this level. I passed the Truth and Reconciliation in a couple of days (with struggle of course) but I got seriously stuck in what was supposed to be one of the easiest parts of LASO. 343 patched MCC in a way that made Banshee grab trick impossible, the Banshee approaches you from a completely different angle now and is already alerted to your presence. I tried to fight my way through the bridge in a conventional way, the way Bungie intended, but I never have enough HP or ammo by the time I reach the bridge. By fighting like this, once I managed to SOMEHOW make the Banshee temporarily get stuck under the structure of the bridge, the way Banshee grab trick should work but I never managed to recreate that moment. It was so random. This leave the bridge drop. Successfully, I only did it only once in the entirety of the time I played Halo CE (which is like 13 years or something). I completely can't do it now, no matter what. Even if I do the first jump successfully without sliding off, dying from fall damage or getting blasted by that fucking Banshee (which I can't destroy earlier because it alerts other enemies and wastes the little ammo that I have) the second jump is impossible no matter what I do. Usually I can't even get the first jump right, I just keep sliding off. I don't understand whether I should crouch or stand when I jump. In conclusion, I seriously doubt this is possible after the patch. Either you need to get extremely lucky with the RNG of enemy spawns and then make successful jumps or this game is fucking broken, idk.
@@BladeEffect See my other comment, I was able to successfully do the bridge drop post patch. Don't get me wrong, it definitely does feel impossible but you can get it!
Pro tip: easily get the par score achievement alongside by killing the two dormant wraith tanks on the path from banshee to exit, each gives 2500 points giving 5000 base score no matter how poor you did on the rest of the level.
So after what took me surprisingly fewer tries than the Reconciliation grenade jump, I got that banshee and made my way through the level. However, when I got to the door just before the bridge where you can normally kill the elite and steal his banshee to fly down, the door was locked and would not open. I was frustrated since I had a checkpoint but I reloaded the level and finally got the banshee again, only to get to the same locked door! Is there no way to bypass this? I've seen a few discuss it when doing some coop fall/level skip trick but nothing on how to proceed... Either way, thanks for these guides, they're awesome!
So I'm leaving the previous comment up for the poor sod like me that comes to the same locked door and thinks doom and gloom... I was using the wrong door. You'd think after spending hours paying attention to crucial details I could pick the right fething door... CE LASO is going to kill me, isn't it?

Day 2 and 40+ tries later a d the elite still refuses to get out of the damn banshee even when I get to eventually work and get the banshee to run into the spot i need it to go to. Additionally, i recommend you restart if there is no grunt to your left. If it's empty and the banshee starts firing, it wakes up the other grunts who will immediately get on the turret and start shooting you. When you do shoot the grunt, make sure you're already in position, and you kill it before the banshee gets to close and gets scared off by the explosion. If you don't get in position in time before banshee is too close, then just ignore the grunt, and he will look forward. But he will mow you down the second you crouch, and then you have only seconds to get that banshee to get stuck, do the movements he describes and might... might... get into the banshee... again, if the elite ever gets out. UPDATE: He finally got out, and I got in immediately and took off and finally completed the mission. God, this trick is bs to pull off
@riotepidemic6681 my game is updated it just too way too many tries. One of the things I did differently than in his video is I moved back by one reticle space from the line he looks at and I was about to more consistently get it. One thing he doesn't not tell you is that if you don't see a sleeping grunt on your left then when the banshee shoots at you, it will wake up the other grunts on the other side of that wall and they'll jump in the turrets and immediately try to shoot you. Where as when the sleeping grunt next to the shade wakes up as well from the shooting, it Wil get in the shade but it will wait until the banshee goes around after you crouch up and down. After I got myself replicating the process over and over almost 100% of the time getting the banshee stuck but the elite won't jump out I then just kept repeated and instead zig zag back and forth between the side doorframe until finally in one playthrough he gets out
@@XFerginatorX ah ok well I had given up after like 2 and a half hours of doing it. Then got the mountain glitch in like 30 minutes. Wished I would have done that from the start. The banshee glitch is way too inconsistent
I kept getting killed by the grunts when attempting the banshee snatch. In the end I pulled off the cliff drop despite the black eye skull. Most difficult bit was avoiding the banshee when exposed on the cliff side.
Is this different on pc or something? I've probably tried over 200 times now. About 80% of the time there are grunts on both sides of the door so one will almost always kill me. If I do get an opportunity and don't die, the banshee doesn't fly into the wall. Yes I'm standing in the correct spot and crouching at the correct time. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I had the same issue as you. I decided to do the cliff jump, since it's waaay easier to do, only difficult part is dodging the banshee shots when you are exposed at the cliff side.
Appreciate all the LASO guides, but personally I found it easier just to do the jump off the bridge despawn like was shown in the AotCR speedrun for Goat Roped
5 mi utes and 41 seconds,mi now rank number 395 globally, im happy with that, i had 3 skulls grunt funeral, pinata, and catch . The exploding grunts really help me pass the first room really fast

I almost managed to do it with just 2 tries but it got stuck above the door, but finally did it after maybe 7 or 8 on PC

Years ago when Halo first came out I inadvertently pulled the banshee trick off in this spot, it was awesome

I just pulled this trick off on Xbox MCC versions Dec 2023 and it still works. Took me 3 hours to finally get it but it does still work

You gotta be VERY precise on where you stand, when and how long you crouch for. Wait for the banshee to scrape the wall then move to the corner of the white wall. As soon as you touch it strafe left. It might help that when you move forward and strafe left, do that motion and stop don't hold down (and walk into a wall).
Watching GarishGoblin do it, for an alternate perspective, also helped (as I think he's the one who discovered it).
Wow I did it on the 4th try it took me more try’s getting threw the 1st section with enough health... you are the man. I’m pumped I’m never good at these jumps and gimmicks that mess with the ai, but this was comprehensive. I just said screw it on truth and rec tho I couldn’t get the Nade jump so I just fought my way up... nightmare stuff but we’re on our way!

Ngl I've tried this a few times both with save and quit and full resets, and even with full health and shields, I just die to the grunts, and the banshee doesn't even go where I want anyway.

Kill some of the Wraiths using the Banshee bombs when flying past them, to make sure that you get enough points to beat the par score as well.
Par score should be of no concern in LASO
@@Murasame13 There's no enemies for the rest of the level and the vehicles still give points. There's no reason to NOT get the par score and time as well. I just did it by only destroying 2 wraiths (1 with the first banshee and 1 with the second).
@@zecuse Pretty high chance that anybody doing LASO already has the par score achievement. It's irrelevant by comparison.
@@MintyLime703 And for those such as myself, I had neither par score nor time and wanted to get LASO done first (I've already played the games a dozen years ago). I never expected to get par time achievements in my LASO runs but a few did happen. Par score though, while not the priority, is VERY easy to get in LASO because of the crazy 17x multiplier and that iron forces you to save/quit (if you want to save your sanity) which preserves your score in CE and 2.
This level in particular is VERY easy to get both par time and score because the empty vehicles still give score. Unless you're trying to make a WR attempt, there's no point in skipping par score as it only takes 2 (empty) wraith kills which is easy enough even in within the par time's limit.

The first day I tried to get the elite out of the banshee I attempted it probably around 20 times and couldn't get it to work. Second day I tried I did it right on my first attempt. My jaw was dropped in disbelief for a good minute. So it is possible but probably a little bit of luck/RNG I'm guessing. Btw thanks for the vids man you're truly meant for this.

The banshee grab is no different, just requires patience. I like to have the t.v on in the background so I have something to listen to. Took me half an hour but I got it.
I managed to splatter Chief in the end cutscene with the Banshee.
The cutscene kept going with the dialogue and all but the Chief remained dead through all of it, just lying there...
After a while he was kind of standing up but in the lying dead position... at least it didn’t fail me the mission

That happened to my brother once. He’s been trying to replicate it ever since. Hasn’t managed to so far.
Edit: This has since been patched, and the Banshee is now working correctly. Something worth noting if you are on PC, FOV and Framerate do affect this skip, so make sure you have the default FOV of 78, and cap your framerate at 60. Hope this helps!
DISCLAIMER TO ANYONE WHO IS COMING HERE AS OF THE 2022 AUGUST UPDATE: Currently the Banshee grab is bugged, and the banshee will not go to the right spot to perform this skip. The problem has been fixed internally, but will probably not be implemented into the game fully until the next major content update, which I believe is in November.
Bit of advice for anybody attempting this now. You can probably see from other comments that the banshee trick currently no longer works, meaning that the cliff jump is the only other option. However the problem with this is that the banshee will constantly follow and shoot at you when you get down. I find that just destroying it before you jump off the bridge much easier. When you leave the first door, clear out all the grunts, then shoot at the banshee when it gets close, it's relatively easy to destroy. Now just clear out the rest of the bridge, keeping your health as high as possible. You should get a checkpoint just before the sword elite comes out at the far end. Turn around and try the jump again until you get it. It's a bit tedious having to walk across the bridge everytime but at least now there's no banshee.
Will also add that if you do the cliff jump, you will end up with a bugged door near the end of the run. Rather than run the "normal" route, go to the end of the canyon and grab the banshee just sitting there and fly up instead, to skip the locked door.
What do you mean? I just did it. I did it on legendary pre-patch for my speedrun and just did the banshee skip about an hour ago, even with the latest patch.

@@truthless4720 I did it on PC. It is a very precise trick to pull off, and Garish Goblin has a better instruction for the skip. There's a slightly different way he does it that is more consistent.

The jump still works as it always has. Just the banshee grab is the new preferred way to get down. Easier to pull off and faster.

Works as of may 2024. My issue was position due to too many hits, then standing up at the right time. Duck until you see him, stand up, wait until he flies towards you then walls
I can get the banshee to fall in the exact same way you do but can rarely get the elite to fall out. Any ideas where I’m going wrong?
I cant get him to fly in the door, he turns right around the pillar after I duck but then turns left again and flys off :/
I did manage to get the speed run achievement without dropping down, but you have to haul ass.
By god, it took me 50 tries and moving on to H2 for a couple weeks before coming back to this, but I actually pulled off the Banshee grab. I eventually reached a zen state of attempting the grab, failing, switching to the bridge descent, failing, save/quit>resume (to keep my time down), and surrending all expectation of ever succeeding when it suddenly *worked.* I was so shocked that almost let the Elite I just skyjacked shoot me down. The endorphine rush of getting to the end of the level in just 6:06 is better than sex.
this is my favorite mission in CE followed by the library, really hoping I clear this one a lot easier than I will that one. You'll know I needed this guide if there are 6 comments from me bitching about it
Ever since the August update, the banshee flies in from the wrong angle to perform this. However, when you're in the hallway before the bridge if you turn around and go back to the previous load zone, come back to the bridge load zone, than back again to the previous load zone, and finally back to the bridge load zone the banshee appears to fly a lot lower again like it was supposed to.
I still can't seem to get this to work though. And I've tried the bridge drop hundreds of times. I can't land the second drop, I always slide off. I'm beginning to think I might actually have to fight my way through this level.
HOLY CRAP I JUST DID THE BRIDGE DROP!!! I tried it one last time and nailed it. Used the warthog gun to destroy the banshee. I'm home free now!

Seeing stuff like the banshee grab really makes you wonder how much trial and effort (and blind luck) went into figuring out the exact places to stand and go, the exact actions to take, and the exact timing to do it in. 5/46
There is a teleportation trick with the banshee if you really want to get wild.
It took me hours just to get the Banshee to go to the door. Luckily the one time I actually pulled it off I was able to accomplish the trick.

I literally managed to do it the minute I commented this and got immediately splattered by the banshee rip
I can't seem to get the Banshee pilot to eject from his seat, even though I can get the banshee to go where I want to, multiple consecutive times, and even get it stuck, the elite never ejects from his seat and often times I'm forced to deal with the curious grunts that show up. This is after presumably around 20-30 tries.
Took me between 10-20 tries for the banshee to eject. Great guide :)
Am I the only one who is trying and instead of the banshee nose diving it just drops straight down and flies away?

That's a fantastic tutorial for the banshee grab. A shame it took me a couple hours to find out that skip was broken in an update. I had to do the bridge drop in stead. The first time I succeeded I got in the tank and accidently shot the tree when aiming for the banshee following me and killed myself. The second time I succeeded I got in the tank and missed the banshee, then died to a banshee bomb. The third time I spent several minutes shooting the banshee from behind a tree with 1 bar of health left until it died and I finally followed the path to clear the level. In total I probably spent about 5 or 6 hours on this level. I'm just glad it's over now.
Damn, this is a great skip! It's so difficult to pull if you don't know what to do though. The best advice I found when I did this is that you don't have to be exact with your placement when moving from the left side of the door to the right side. The main thing your trying to do there is to get the banshee at a weird angle, causing the elite to eject like you would if the vehicle got turned upside down. So your main goal is to like, move in a way that would cause the pilot to eject. Idk why but whenever I attempted this, the banshee would fly in super fast, and moving straight to the right would cause it to free itself. However, when I moved away from the door I managed to get the elite to fall out. I recommend trying this the way the video directs to for a bit, and if that doesn't work, then try to move either further into the door, or away from the door on that third step. If you search "aotcr banshee grab mcc" in TH-cam and watch a few of the videos it might make it a bit easier to visualize. Hopefully this helps!

Awesome banshee tutorial, I was shocked when I got it on my second try
The Banshee tricks works in Co-op. Your partner will teleport forward, but it won't trigger any enemies to spawn. I also discovered it helps having your FOV at the default value. For whatever reason having it too wide messes up the timing.

I have beaten reach and 3 and up to this on laso up and until this point, I have never quit a mission. This banshee grab is harder than any other trick I’ve pulled

I'm on PC tried for two hours straight this is still doable just very hard..
I tried to mess with FOV cause on your footage it definitely looks different when I line up with the tile but it shouldn't matter as far as I can tell just line up perfectly with the line also left/right movement shouldn't matter too much for me it worked out when I ran out to the very right of the door.
I had the most issues with the line up it always flew off before it crashed, the running part was fine though I got squished the first time 😅
still works took me about 20 minutes to get it down, timing is key with this trick if you get it down just right you can get it done

Just when i was about to give up and man through this humongous mission and have to deal with not forgetting to save and quit all the way through i finally did the banshee trick after 2 hrs lol.

Extremely finicky but still works on PC as of August 2022. Took me about 50 tries once I could consistently get the banshee to turn into the wall.
Tip: I noticed standing a couple inches in front of the line seems to make the banshee's right hand turn into the wall more consistent where standing on the line or slightly behind the line made it turn left, away from the wall, more often.
Worked for me as of 2/2023. Took about 30ish minutes but was able to do it and get my legendary Speer in to about 12 minutes.

For anyone having issues with the banshee grab, I personally would limit your attempts to 5, if you don't manage it after 5, don't bother, otherwise you'll waste hours in which time you'd have played through normally anyway
Alternatively, I recommend the bridge fall skip, it's in my opinion, superior
Simply because, it's all in your control, there's no rng with the banshee, don't need pixel perfect position and hope that the elite actually gets out when he's supposed to, I spent literally hours trying the banshee skip, couldn't get it to work, wether it was the elite not coming round or just simply not getting out when he gets jammed at the top
Vs doing the bridge fall, it took me half hour of practice to get it and now I can do it pretty consistently, only offence is you have to run run for a bit to the next area where you get a ghost and can drive through with no enemies, then when you get the area where theres 2 bridges above, theres a banshee at the back, grab that and fly up to where he does in this video them continue as he does, far more consistent, skips are all about saving time, if you have to waste hours trying to do a skip, then it isn't a skip, it's a waste of time

I’ve tried that, it’s not really viable past heroic, because you constantly move around while the pelican descends, making it tricky to stay on, and the banshee is scripted to bomb it as it descends. Past heroic difficulty, the bomb will insta-kill you.
It would've been nice to explain where exactly to look when your on the 4th square. Like it doesn't look like your looking down as far as you can so looking to the left of the middle does not help me at all when we're looking at the same spot from 2 different angles. I'll eventually get it though and i do appreciate the help but man this glitch is frustrating

As of September 2022, the banshee grab is patched. I was able to successfully complete this level using the older method of dropping off the bridge to get to the ground (I guess this was the glitch to do before the banshee glitch was found)?
The one caveat (or difference) is when you walk out on the first bridge, the banshee is basically flying straight towards you. The banshee will be following you as you decent the cliff. I was able to survive until I got to the tank and destroyed it there.
Once you walk towards the end of the level and you are under the two bridges, you have to grab the banshee on the ground floor and take it to the door that will lead you to the land bridge (usually with the two banshees on it).
If you try to go through that part as usual, you'll go up the elevator, go across the first of the two bridges, and find a locked door. Really just saying this so no one wastes the time like I did going up there for no reason.
Thanks this comment just saved me. I went through the mission like normal and the door was locked. i didnt even know there was a banshe on the ground level but there is. Also anyone else thats stuck. Go rab the banshee from the ground level then go onto the 2nd bridge. (the one with the locked door on it) thats where the level continues on
Just completed this level, with the banshee skip, (don't ask how many attempts) but I haven't been given the achievement plus I've been moved onto 343 and can't go back? Any ideas?
u beat the level laso ^^ and if ur fast enough u beat the time for the lvl too so u get that archivment too amazing ^^

Can confirm: the banshee grab is currently patched. Upon loading the area, two “allies” are spawned then despawned to wake up the enemies and redirect the banshee.

Yep, I was trying for a couple hours. As soon as I walk outside the banshee is already heading towards the door and the entire setup does nothing.

That explains it. I thought I must be doing something wrong. Whole game has been messed up by the latest patch. I keep having to use modern graphics as things like weapons, vehicles, enemies, doors, rocks and trees are randomly invisible in classic graphics sometimes for me, and Silver had invisible enemies (not like camo, i mean FULLY invisible) in a Halo 2 LASO stream this week. Something has clearly broken.
I already wrote this comment on the video but I'm gonna leave it here too. Here it goes:
I can't believe I got stuck on this level. I passed the Truth and Reconciliation in a couple of days (with struggle of course) but I got seriously stuck in what was supposed to be one of the easiest parts of LASO. 343 patched MCC in a way that made Banshee grab trick impossible, the Banshee approaches you from a completely different angle now and is already alerted to your presence.
I tried to fight my way through the bridge in a conventional way, the way Bungie intended, but I never have enough HP or ammo by the time I reach the bridge. By fighting like this, once I managed to SOMEHOW make the Banshee temporarily get stuck under the structure of the bridge, the way Banshee grab trick should work but I never managed to recreate that moment. It was so random.
This leave the bridge drop. Successfully, I only did it only once in the entirety of the time I played Halo CE (which is like 13 years or something). I completely can't do it now, no matter what. Even if I do the first jump successfully without sliding off, dying from fall damage or getting blasted by that fucking Banshee (which I can't destroy earlier because it alerts other enemies and wastes the little ammo that I have) the second jump is impossible no matter what I do. Usually I can't even get the first jump right, I just keep sliding off. I don't understand whether I should crouch or stand when I jump.
In conclusion, I seriously doubt this is possible after the patch. Either you need to get extremely lucky with the RNG of enemy spawns and then make successful jumps or this game is fucking broken, idk.
@@BladeEffect See my other comment, I was able to successfully do the bridge drop post patch. Don't get me wrong, it definitely does feel impossible but you can get it!

8 hours..... this is driving me insane
Pro tip: easily get the par score achievement alongside by killing the two dormant wraith tanks on the path from banshee to exit, each gives 2500 points giving 5000 base score no matter how poor you did on the rest of the level.
So after what took me surprisingly fewer tries than the Reconciliation grenade jump, I got that banshee and made my way through the level. However, when I got to the door just before the bridge where you can normally kill the elite and steal his banshee to fly down, the door was locked and would not open. I was frustrated since I had a checkpoint but I reloaded the level and finally got the banshee again, only to get to the same locked door! Is there no way to bypass this? I've seen a few discuss it when doing some coop fall/level skip trick but nothing on how to proceed... Either way, thanks for these guides, they're awesome!
So I'm leaving the previous comment up for the poor sod like me that comes to the same locked door and thinks doom and gloom... I was using the wrong door. You'd think after spending hours paying attention to crucial details I could pick the right fething door... CE LASO is going to kill me, isn't it?

Day 2 and 40+ tries later a d the elite still refuses to get out of the damn banshee even when I get to eventually work and get the banshee to run into the spot i need it to go to.
Additionally, i recommend you restart if there is no grunt to your left. If it's empty and the banshee starts firing, it wakes up the other grunts who will immediately get on the turret and start shooting you. When you do shoot the grunt, make sure you're already in position, and you kill it before the banshee gets to close and gets scared off by the explosion. If you don't get in position in time before banshee is too close, then just ignore the grunt, and he will look forward. But he will mow you down the second you crouch, and then you have only seconds to get that banshee to get stuck, do the movements he describes and might... might... get into the banshee... again, if the elite ever gets out.
UPDATE: He finally got out, and I got in immediately and took off and finally completed the mission. God, this trick is bs to pull off

@riotepidemic6681 my game is updated it just too way too many tries. One of the things I did differently than in his video is I moved back by one reticle space from the line he looks at and I was about to more consistently get it.
One thing he doesn't not tell you is that if you don't see a sleeping grunt on your left then when the banshee shoots at you, it will wake up the other grunts on the other side of that wall and they'll jump in the turrets and immediately try to shoot you. Where as when the sleeping grunt next to the shade wakes up as well from the shooting, it Wil get in the shade but it will wait until the banshee goes around after you crouch up and down.
After I got myself replicating the process over and over almost 100% of the time getting the banshee stuck but the elite won't jump out I then just kept repeated and instead zig zag back and forth between the side doorframe until finally in one playthrough he gets out

I kept getting killed by the grunts when attempting the banshee snatch. In the end I pulled off the cliff drop despite the black eye skull. Most difficult bit was avoiding the banshee when exposed on the cliff side.

Is this different on pc or something? I've probably tried over 200 times now. About 80% of the time there are grunts on both sides of the door so one will almost always kill me. If I do get an opportunity and don't die, the banshee doesn't fly into the wall. Yes I'm standing in the correct spot and crouching at the correct time. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I had the same issue as you. I decided to do the cliff jump, since it's waaay easier to do, only difficult part is dodging the banshee shots when you are exposed at the cliff side.

Appreciate all the LASO guides, but personally I found it easier just to do the jump off the bridge despawn like was shown in the AotCR speedrun for Goat Roped
5 mi utes and 41 seconds,mi now rank number 395 globally, im happy with that, i had 3 skulls grunt funeral, pinata, and catch . The exploding grunts really help me pass the first room really fast
