    I was diagnosed 7 days after my 60th birthday when a medical event landed me in the emergency room and spent a month and a half in the hospital. My insurance coverage was mishandled and I was forced to discharge against the doctor's recommendation because I couldn't afford the bill on what I get from SSDI.

    Looks like you are doing a wonderful job! Look for cauliflower crust or keto crust pizzas, taste just the same without the carbs!

      Those are still too high calorie and don't fill a person up, horrible advice tbh. He could have that once a month but that shouldn't become a staple

    If he's down to 1100 calories a day and eats 150g carbs, that means his diet is still over 50% carbs as 1g carb has 4 calories.

    41 minutes for 1.5 miles as a super obese person isn't that bad. Good for him, he's taking this seriously! I pray he looses enough weight to stop having diabetes

    What's crazy is this man is obese but he isn't morbidly obese, and this just proves we all need to eat better and move more!

    Keto. You don't need to restrict your calories that much, and you have to ditch the carbs.... IGNORE the guidelines!

    • @trotskyite1
      @trotskyite1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      avoid restrictive diets like keto unless you lose substantial (15%) weight on it otherwise it will just mask the ongoing disease process. Reverse your diabetes with weight loss then eat an unprocessed diet.

    Some fun facts:
    According to the American Heart Association the average man should consume no more than 36 grams of added sugar a day. One single CAN, not even one single bottle, of classic Coca Cola contains 39 grams. Is it any wonder that people get into such trouble? Imagine if you had a donut for breakfast, the Coke at lunch, and ice cream for dessert at dinnertime. Added sugar absolutely is enemy number one. Other things to avoid: cream in coffee, red meat, pretty much any Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts drink that isn't regular coffee with milk...
    Another big source of confusion: there is a difference between the sugar founded in soda (added sugar) and the sugar in fruit (natural sugar). Too much of anything is never good but there is no reason why diabetics can't eat fruit.

      dietary guidelines are fine if you adhere to them, problem is nobody does. Veganism is fine

      Plant based "diets" is the main way to reverse type 2 diabetes
      I've seen it with my own 2 eyes
