Great video. I wouldn't go in a DBX though. I bring my trainees through to a fully engineered 5A FSD (SCO). Gather/Trade the required Focus Crystals. Then switch the Engineered FSD across from the DBX to the Phantom. Leave a 5 slot empty. Pick up 8 HN Shock Mounts to take with us. Then unlock and fit a Size 5 FSD Booster out at the Guardian Area of space at The Prospect, which has a Guardian Technology Broker. An extra 10.5Ly per jump and a size 6A Fuel Scoop for the journey home. I always go with them and help them out. Good fun activity.

You're absolutely right. I did the same thing years ago and unlocked all guardian modules and fighters with my Krait Phantom. It's a great ship for that purpose and I enjoy flying it. But I wanted to make a guide for everyone, so that even beginners can do it easily. DBX is a good exploration ship for beginners. It's relatively cheaper, small enough to land almost anywhere and it has a huge jump range. It can jump more than 47LY without engineering (only Anaconda jumps longer). The only drawback is a lack of space in the optional.

It is a thousand light away, the plot will not travel to that distance

Actually, you can plot a route up to 20,000 light years long. You won't be able to do this if your ship's jump range is less than the minimum distance between the stars along the route (you can also play with the route algorithm between "fastest" and "economical"). And specifically to show that, all this is possible for beginners, I created a second Elite account and started doing all this from scratch, as I did in this video. Note that the DBX I fly here is non engineered and to cover 1000ly it needs around 30-35 jumps depending on the galactic region (density of star clusters).

You don’t say how to go from gathering materials from Dav’s Hope to getting Focus Crystals. I did just what you said and have zero Focus Crystals.

"Focus Crystals" are the manufactured materials that can be gathered at the "Dav's Hope" (as mentioned in the video from 3:40). Just collect all the materials around the perimeter from 10 drop location mentioned in this video guide. Then log out and log back in (in Solo mode) and collect all the respawned materials again. Repeat this procedure until you've collected all the required amount of "Focus Crystals". It usually takes about 20-30 minutes to gather more than you need.

Ah, I was confused as the video made it seem like a straightforward process like the previous Guardian site and not a repeat as needed random farm. Thank you for the clarification.

You're welcome. I should have mentioned in this video that you need to log out and log back in for the materials to respawn for both Guardian site and Dav's Hope. My bad :)
