After seeing the engine I’ve jokingly asked them “kitna deti hai” they said 100Rs diesel is enough for a whole day’s worth of operation. And mind you that engine is kept on idle status for the whole time that stall is open. All he does is pull on a lever (acceleration cable) to increase the revs and get more power when the cane is to be squeezed.
Royal Enfield also used to sell Ensign. The only Royal Enfield with a 150 CC engine. Which they used to call mini bullet. Our family had one, which unfortunately we sold last year.
Bro Mini Bullet had 200cc Engine, I still have it in my home, later our mini bullet was converted into diesel due to lack of availability of that 200cc engine parts . . . . . We still have that diesel converted mini bullet at home, it has a self starter as well . . . . .

This is not RE Taurus. It is RE petrol bullet swaped with Greaves Diesel engine from local mechanics which is also endrosed by RTO. Taurus will look different in terms of Engine and paint scheme. Diesel bullets are more popular here in Tamil Nadu.!
Good One!! @ Faisal Khan. I still own one and use it as a daily driver here in Kochi, Kerala. When it comes to vibrations I truly agree (it gives amazing full body massage :P ), but I've always felt that keeping the revs low and speeds in the 40 -50 KMPH is the sweet spot for my Diesel Enfield. And yes, I only ride it around it because the fuel cost gives me around 70 KMPL on average. But now the novelty factor has kicked in and makes me proud to say that I ride around in a truly unique motorcycle, which is a piece of history in itself.

i owned this one between 2017 and sold off in 2020 after throughly enjoying it ! cant go beyond 40 kmph cuz the vibrations kill you , i used to get 76kmpl average on this. ! 0:57 : thats a fly wheel cover. a lot of people use to tie rop on the flywheel then pull and start it ! 3:01 : thats actually the oil filter. 5:15 : there was another Indian company called Sooraj who also manufactured Diesel motorcycle; absolute copy of the Taurus but the side panel's were a bit different
@@arjj1 i had overhauled the engine in 2017 and used t for 400 km. smooth until 40kmph after that being diesel there too much of torque your chasis can take and the engine itself is very flimsy in that way can go to 60 if you are of with that that much vibrations but beyond 60 no chance.
We had one of these back in the early 2000s. We had a milk business and my uncle used to haul big ass milk cannisters on this. Infact if I know correctly we have always had a Royal Enfield in the family for past 40 years. Currently have Thunderbird. Planning to upgrade to SM 650 as soon as I can.

My father uses a an 1985 model "Hero Honda sleek " which is at those days believed to give 80kms per litre . And I am happy cause it works till now and still gives min 50kms per litre , And maintaining the stock look of the vehicle till now
Bike which you are riding is not in good condition Few points to correct 1. There are officially 2 Diesel bikes ever sold in India 1. Royal Enfield Taurus 2. Sooraj Diesel 3. Petrol bullet covert to Greaves Diesel engine on bullet (not company fitted) It's small trick to start this bike, you just need to pull up a decompression nobe which is near to a piston head then have to kick slow twice to make compression and mostly by 3rd kick it will start bcz it's Diesel engine which doesn't have spark plug to ignite. It doesn't need to pour diesel in that hole which showed we have to pour it only when it's extremely cold condition. 2. The bike which you are riding is not Taurus it's Diesel bullet which is petrol bullet convert to diesel with Greaves 6.5hp 15nm torque @3600 rpm. On Taurus engine has slightly lower power with round engine cover It's very nice bike just need to drive differently Yeah it vibrates alot I have Diesel bullet and I am very happy to using on a daily basis

And guess why RE came up with the Taurus... There were folks who were mounting the Greaves Diesel Engine on Bullet and it was becoming pretty popular in the south, especially in TN!!! Second, the smallest capacity product of Royal Enfield was the Enfield Mofa 22cc

My buddy did not do full research. This is not company Diesel. Its a modified petrol bullet with a Greaves engine. Original Taurus is way more beautiful to look at.
Gear box right side creates some confusion, once you get used to it it’ll be smooth, had got opportunity to drive it couple of time , the thump it generates is awesome, could feel till 16 feet

In terms of vibrations Enfield machismo AVL engine also does vibrations alot make a video on that too its a petrol engine with 50 kmpl mileage and it can start and work without battery too

Due to very high Torque to Power ratio (2.4) it gives a good mileage.

there was a 2 stroke Enfield explorer as well which was 49cc so 325 and 250 were not only the smaller engines made by royal enfield.
