I did the exact same thing, deadass one of the only songs I listened to on WD1, in WD2 I listened to Get Stupid by Mac Dre, and I have WD Legion but it got boring after a week, not to mention that it's set in the future 🤮 So I deleted it
WD1 has aged extremely well. I tried playing it when it first came out but didn't appreciate it and eventually stopped playing. Picked it up again this year and just finished it yesterday and had a blast with it. Graphics, story, gameplay, everything still holds up 7 years on. Quality. Bought WD2 today so we'll see what that's like.
@@a.merckling2734 to be honest mate I have only played about 6 hours so haven't got in to the story at all. In terms of gameplay (driving, shooting, hacking etc.) It's a massive improvement. Haven't heard good things about WD Legion though but I'm willing to give it a go once I finish 2.

Watch Dogs 1 have a special place in my heart. I bought it when i had a PS3, i bought it again when i got my PS4. That game just have a lasting impact on me.

i played watch dogs 1 a couple years ago and was massively dissapointed by 2 and 3. The story is just not at all engaging in those games because theres no real stakes or anything
While I still preferred the side quest of 2, I think that WD1 actually tried to tie in side missions, or at least certain ones. For example, the human trafficking side mission chain is only unlocked after you have completed the story arc involving it and is a direct continuation of that story bit. Also, I'd say compare the hacking of the two games, but WD2 would easily take that point considering it came out years after 1 and had a baseline to improve on.

The mass distraction and vehicle control hack are just new additions + nos. The second game focuses more on hacking and using gadgets than actual combat which is why the game felt more lackluster. It doesn’t make sense for me to use a gun, Marcus doesn’t seem like a killer to me. I always use taser and yoyo and just use drones which makes combat obsolete.
Man, I just realised ... I can’t decide between these two! Wtf, they are equal to me ... even their graphics, yeah WD2 looks better but then, rainy Chicago is unbeatable! i think there are certain things for both. for example, wd1 had better story but wd2 had better missions. but wd1 was better to mess around in. shooting up random people in wd2 just felt like shooting them and that’s it

Definitely not the Punisher. Aiden does fixer contracts for various criminals and steals money from the average citizen. He invades privacy no different from Blume and Also did a full blackout on all of Chicago just to reach one guy and kill him. Definitely not Punisher. He's just a control freak raised by a mobster and motivated by the death of niece and other moments where he had no control over the course of events. Definitely not a hero or antihero. Just a man with enough power at his fingertips.
WD1 is definitely my favorite of the 2. WD2 isn't bad but WD1 sucked me in with it's story, the main character as well as the side characters, the over all vibe of the world and it's setting, The stealth combat, etc. if i had to chose between one or the other to replay it would definitely be WD1.
My biggest gripe with WD 2 was the removal of slow mo from WD 1 You cant tell how bad it impacted gameplay till you play it dramatic effect on gameplay and especially stealth Although i appreciate that stealth had more variety in WD2 bc of the new hacks and the improved ways to approach your target But the removal of slow mo killed it for me
@@r4z0r84 the that stamina thing on the left of the screen Super duper mechanic and really makes stealth much much more enjoyable I didnt know about it at first till the last portion of the game but when i played it again I always went with a silenced pistol plus slow mo And it changed the game drastically for me

After playing both of these games I can say that WD1 is the better game. It had more hacking tools like controlling the trains, bridges, causing blackout, and of course jamming coms. It was really great. WD2 it did bring some new hacking features but it got rid of most of the hacking from WD1. I mean some of it is there but its just not as impressive. Like blackout is there but its not as dark as WD1 is and even though you can disrupt traffic lights in WD2 its not as impressive. Sure there is like Massive hacks like Vehicle Hack and Communications Hack its still not that great. I mean I don't recall ever using the Mass Vehicle hack because it didn't really help me in any situation. I will say that the hacking in Watch Dogs 2 is a bit overpowered when you can call a Hitman or Police on anyone even the gang members and you can allow them to fight each other, which is useful in missions. At the end of the day I think Watch Dogs 1 is still a great game. It had better story and better hacking tools. While it may not having the best driving mechinacs or customization it manages to stand out on its own and I sitll enjoyed it for what it is. Watch Dogs 2 it tries a bit too hard to be like GTA/Saints Row with all the goofy and sany things that are going on that just doesn't make it that interesting. I find Marcus a forgetable character and the story is not memorable. So yeah these games are a mixed bag for me.
Im playing watch dogs 1 since i got it with the gold edtion from legion. Its freakin amazing im hooked. Love using the silencer and taking out the gang hideouts or hacking into the enemies phones to explode them lol
i used to hate WD 1 when it came out, considering the choppy graphics and issues at that time, but as i started playing it, i loved it even more, and now, seeing the state of WD 2 and 3, WD 1 was by far the better game, it actually gave me feel of being part of the story, more mature story kept me engaged. 2 and 3 have these stupid goofy ass story and characters which never appealed to me at all.. thanks for this video, you are really doing great work, your dedication for making these content is really awesome, cant imagine the time and resources you put into this.. more power to you man.
Great video . Simple answer, watch dogs 1 is grounded and raw , greedy , and dark and watch dogs 2 is light hearted and fun , I think watch dogs 1 is better but ubisoft did something different in watch dogs 2 so , I can't say but both games are great .
I like Watch Dogs 1 more than Watch Dogs 2 but I feel like WD2 has more replayability. In vanilla WD1, all the side missions and such are just-- complete them and then done. There isn't really much to do in the world besides those random crime events, which are really fun - especially when they work out so cinematically well, and I just find myself having more to do in WD2. I don't like how in WD1 all those gang hideouts and such are restricted to missions-- that limits replayability value imo. That's why I recommend playing WD1 with the Living City mod on PC.
WD1 has more replay value than WD2. Playing WD2 without getting bored is the real challenge. Bro you’re using drone and rc car 90% of the time. Living city mod + graphics make the game so much nicer and has more immersion and makes the game feel alive. I feel bad for console players that can’t enjoy the game. On PC, the game looks better than E3 and next gen consoles too.
I have tried WD 2 yesterday and let me tell you it's so colorful and happy in comparison with WD 1 where it's dark and deep, and that's why I like WD 1
I just recently started replaying one again and one is so much better In my opinion because of it being so much darker and tbf most of that is also because I hate character changes unless there's a story behind it
My favorite thing about wd2 was the fact that as Marcus you could play music from his app during missions giving missions any type feeling you wanted when attacking bases or running away
For all those who wants to play the watch dogs series. I have played all three of them, in fact I have got platinums for 2 of them. So, if you ask me: watch dogs is wayyyyy better than watch dogs 2 and legion. The main reason is Aiden himself. He is the best protagonist for this series. If you are going to play watch dogs legion, wait for Aiden , then buy the game and play the entire game as him. Coz the story of legion is pretty dark and he will fit well in that story. Other wise go for watch dogs 1. And if you are planning to buy it on ps4 and Xbox one. In the settings decrease the brightness to 0. It will not make the game dark but will give it more realistic look.

Personally love Watch Dogs 1 it amazes me I remember people saying "Aiden isn't a fun character to play as." I mean sure I'd be dancing on rainbows & S***ting glitter after my 6 year old Niece is murdered, and I was the intended Target. I love my darker stories simply because they hold no punches. Admittedly I can't say too much on 2 simply because I've played about, 2 maybe less hours of i, couldn't get into it, the happier vibe just throws me off completely and the takedowns honestly bug the crap out of me. Now this is my own personal thought on the games as a whole including Legion here, I think what makes WD1 better to me is you yourself are not a member of DedSec, allowing you to choose are you more of the Cold Killer Fixer type, or are you the Nicer, more tactical hacker type. Plus I am not a fan of the non-lethal weapons just feel meh. All in all thank you very much for the video, and for your thoughts. Hope everyone is well and is as happy as can be ^^.
Watch Dogs as a franchise is in a really weird spot. IMO, it is a modern (ie young) franchise that has got progressively worse with every release, which is pretty odd when one considers how solid the foundation was with the first title. I really enjoyed WD1, enjoyed but didn't love WD2, and I flatout had to force myself to play the 17 hours it took to finish WD Legions story.
My guy, Marcus doesn’t use a yo-yo for his takedowns. It’s a freaking 8 ball attached to the end of some rope. The stealth in both games is so satisfying.
I disagree, watchdogs 1 was dull, depressing and boring in my opinion and his whole revenge mission for his niece had no wait when you see her for a few frames, watch dogs 2 had personality with compelling characters and more abilities
I also wanted to say that WD 1 still has the E3 graphics but they are just disabled which makes Watch Dogs 1's graphics better.( I found this after a lot of research on the game)
On pc there is a mod that unlocks the e3 graphics. You see the e3 gameplay was stock game footage, but for some reason they downgraded the graphics before full release. Luckily the option to turn e3 graphics on is in the game files, so a simple mod turns these back on, allowing for excellent graphics without external mods (apart from the one that turns the option on)
I want watch dogs 2 with a cloak ability and gun jam hack, with the gun combat of watch dogs 1 (including the focus ability) and the melee combat of watch dogs legion, and better stealth
The first time I played watchdogs was a few years back when it first came out on games with gold for the Xbox one and I only played the first two or so missions then drop the game completely because I grew bored of it. Earlier this year I picked it up again because I was bored of all of the games that I had completed in the past such as RDR2 and GTA 4. I was a little lost on the story since I loaded up a save file where I was about 10% through the game and I only had little memories of playing but once I got through the first few missions I was hooked and having a blast. The gunplay, the stealth, the side activities and most importantly the story. I didn’t know what to think as Aiden as a character once I first started but as I spent more time with him I began to get very attached to him and he remains one of my favorite characters in gaming right next to Arthur Morgan and master chief. I feel like Ubisoft could’ve done better with the watch dogs series if they would have stuck with the dark and gritty tone of the original watchdogs instead of switching to a light and fun tone of the sequel. Watch dogs two was a good game but the thing it lacked was the completion of Aiden’s story. The watchdog series had so much potential. After playing watchdogs one and watchdogs two I was excited for watch dogs legion earlier this year and once I played through the first few levels of the campaign waiting in excitement for something to happen I later Lost interest in the story and became bored. The biggest feature of watch dogs legion is its biggest flaw sure, it is cool to be able to play as every single character in the game but if everybody is playable nobody is special. You can’t even call the people in watch dogs legion “characters” Because of the shitty voice acting and all of the characters in watch dogs legion act the exact same. One of the main things that makes a game good is a likable protagonist and a good story. If I am playing as someone in a game who I don’t feel attached to and can’t relate to I do not want to play is them, Which single-handedly ruins the experience of Legion. I do like the new DLC bloodline that they added so you can play through the campaign as a character not a robot who can say only 15 lines of unique dialogue. Watch dogs legion doesn’t even feel like a watch dogs game. If you showed me The original watch dogs and watch dogs legion side-by-side I would think they were two different games because of their differences. In The original watchdogs you or Aiden Pearce Chicago Batman who is also a cold-blooded killer trying to protect his city and his family while still also getting Revenge for his biggest loss. In legion you are some random fucking brit that is trying to take down Albion so London can be free with a little Shock pistol and “teamwork”. Watch dogs legion feels like it should be rated T not M. They have tone down the watchdog series so much that it doesn’t even feel recognizable anymore and I feel like Aiden Pearce should have a sequel because he is a very very good written character and Ubisoft just decided to leave him in the dust until recently. The original watchdogs is and remains to be one of my top five favorite games because if it’s replay ability and amazing story it is by far in my opinion the best game in the series.
Great video again MA! I agree with you on WD1 being better. Just like Aiden more, like the darker tone. I also think Chicago looks better than San Fran. WD2 seems kind of cartoony to me. It's definitely geared to a younger audience I think. I know WD1 got some early bad press, but it's a solid game. My ratings for the WD games are: #1- WD1, #2- Legion, #3 WD2. Lots of fun memories playing the 2nd one and i love the soundtrack as well but there's something about the main character i didn't like. They wanted to make him so charismatic and cool and idk, i just didn't feel It but an awesome Gameplay and City was enough for me. I would've love to see that quiet batman-like OLDER Aiden Pearce as the main character once again in Legion Take care dude!

Gotta agree overall. The original game seemed to be so much more thought out then the second, which after all is an attempt to recreate the magic of the fist and which encounters limitations thereby. Furthermore, the development of Lucky and Iraq and their respective groups added an aura of menace coupled with fear of failure that few games attain. Of course, the first suffered thru the media/journalist blitz of negativity for "graphical downgrade" that I personally felt was highly uncalled for, merely twitch bait and a case of "ride the fad". When I played through Watch Dogs 1, it was one of my favourite games ever. But Watch Dogs 2 didn't even start to interest me since the beginning. To be fair, I only played the first few missions. But it just doesn't feel as satisfying sneaking around. I'm not too happy with the gadgets you have in WD2. Like yeah they're cool, but I found it a bit annoying to basically have to use them all the time, and I had a difficult time finding out how to approach an area I had to stealth through. Once again, I only played for like an hour or two, but the game just didn't feel like Watch Dogs. I will probably give it another try and play further though.
Actually the different gadgets and options are very good ways to diversify the gameplay, by providing different ways of approaching more or less stealthily, because you can complete a large part of the game without killing anyone, thanks to the gadgets, just as much as finishing the game killing everyone by rushing in with your weapons. I personally loved this dual gameplay
I loved WD1 especially because of the atmosphere in it, in WD2 everything is so colorful kinda feels like what happened to dying light, when dying light 2 came out it felt more colorful then the dying light 1 where it felt more suspenseful
I Platinum both games, there both good but i like Watch Dogs 2 way more. I also prefer Marcus over Aiden and not a lot of people liked Aiden when he first came out and said that was one of the biggest problems with the first game. Also to me watch dogs 2 has a better soundtrack. Also Watch Dogs 2 has better graphics on console and PC haven't had anybody have a problem with the graphics on PC so I don't know what made you think that and I seen a lot of people played on Twitch with no complaints. Watch Dogs 2 looks bright and beautiful and watch dogs 1 especially on Twitch always look to dark and gritty. I definitely agree with you that watch dogs 1 has a better villain and is more personal to the protagonist and the combat is better in Watch Dogs 1 than it is on 2. But we all have our opinions so it's all good.

Personally don’t enjoy WD2 as much. Feel like they shoved politics down my throat the whole time. Games are meant to be an escape from all that so why bring it into the game. I don’t remember WD1 being political at all but it’s been years since I last played it so maybe I’m wrong
No way WD1 is better than 2. WD2 is everything WD1 should be back in 2014. WD2 is incredible, beautiful, fun, whit a diversified gameplay and a dense world full of details and things happening, you have more freedom to do whatever you want. I hate how so many people only judge a game only because of a story, like it was the most important thing in a game
Graphics wise, nothing beats watchdogs 1 night scene. It is miles ahead because the contrast between all the lights actually masks a lot of weak points of rasterization in general. And the city is also objectively more beautiful.
Another thing to note, online in my opinion was way more fun in the first Watchdogs game. Especially with all the glitches you could do and mess around with other people online along with battle grounds you can set up and use is very fun.

Every time you praise Aiden and WD1, i just love you more. WD1 was so dark and tragic story and i just love Aiden as a character. Although i must admit that as a game i prefer WD2 purely for gameplay and freedom.

Suggestion: Instead of comparing graphics you could compare artistic style. For example Odyssey has better graphics than Black Flag, but Black Flag is more pleasing to look at (ofc this is just my opinion)
WD1 is definitely superior. It's just a shame we never got the game that was marketed to us-a gritty, mature open world Max Payne/Hitman hacker game. And the series seems to become successively more soulless and devoid of character - rather than the dark intimate tale it teased at E3 all those moons ago.
Just wanna point out that yo-yo is called a monkey first which is a giant knot of paracord used pretty much as a modern day morning star. Very very effective
Honestly. I love each game equally. They both are amazing and have pros and cons. Watchdogs 2 was my first Watchdogs game but it isn’t my favorite. I still have loads of nostalgia with it though and love it dearly.
I personally liked watchdogs 1 more. I started it and everyday I wanted to go back and continue playing and finish it. But watch dogs 2 even though I like it. I still haven’t finished it.
In WD1 you felt like a vigilante, In WD2 you actually felt like a hacker, goofy or not. Plus San Fran is a much more attractive and fun location to play in than Chicago in my opinion.
In my opinion, the first game is by far the best, the story, gameplay and open world activities are very fun in my opinion, even the reputation system, remembers of rdr, there is something in the second game that it's just not very appealling, maybe it's because the first one is simpler
Theres alot I loved about WD1. The few in-depth late game side quests were really immersive for me. particularly the serial killer one and the one where you steal the handgun that is bio-locked. i also really liked getting different trench coats and customizing that way, reminds me of Jedi: Fallen Order and the ponchos, maybe I just like things simple. Playing through WD2 for the first time right now and so far it just feels more...empty. Still Fun! Can't wait to see how it ends!
I thought the plot for WD2 sucked. while the game play was aimed at your hacking your way thru the game and it was fun. I miss my silenced pistol from WD1. it was the only gun I ever used very well. The silenced pistols in the second while supposedly more realistic was bad. I don't want realistic.
The biggest issue with Watchdogs two was the tone being too upbeat, even when they wanted a darker tone of the story. Such as in an eye for an eye, there was no impact.
The first game blows the rest out of the water, and mostly got bashed from the graphics being downgraded from the showcase Video. The campaign missions in this are the most varied, and it has a very mature storyline. The second game has good production values, but it doesn't take anything serious, and every mission is the same. No need to bring up the third game, it's a joke. I just played the original on the Series X again last week, it feels like the game just came out, it hasn't aged a bit at all. This game, Blacklist, Far Cry 4 and Origins are the last good games Ubisoft made, now everything is big for the sake of being big with weak narratives. If you play this on next gen or even PS4/One, there's a lot of little features that wasn't in the original PS3 and 360 version. There's actual heavy wind, better shadows and lightning, first person view while driving, more trees and foliage including grass, more traffic and pedestrians, and other smaller details. On my Series X it's a flawless 60 FPS. I give it a 9 out of 10, but I would give it a 10 out of 10, if only I could turn off the HUD, turn the auto aim fully off, and turn those white enemy outlines completely off.
These games really come down to personal preference, if you like a dark revenge story then get WD1, but if you like a more fun story then get WD2.

It doesn’t make sense for me to use a gun, Marcus doesn’t seem like a killer to me. I always use taser and yoyo and just use drones which makes combat obsolete.
Watchdogs 1 was one of my first and most anticipated ps4 games and still has me going back.
Man, I just realised ... I can’t decide between these two! Wtf, they are equal to me ... even their graphics, yeah WD2 looks better but then, rainy Chicago is unbeatable! WD1 is definitely my favorite of the 2. WD2 isn't bad but WD1 sucked me in with it's story, the main character as well as the side characters, the over all vibe of the world and it's setting, The stealth combat, etc. if i had to chose between one or the other to replay it would definitely be WD1.
My biggest gripe with WD 2 was the removal of slow mo from WD 1

After playing both of these games I can say that WD1 is the better game. It had more hacking tools like controlling the trains, bridges, causing blackout, and of course jamming coms. It was really great. WD2 it did bring some new hacking features but it got rid of most of the hacking from WD1. I mean some of it is there but its just not as impressive. Like blackout is there but its not as dark as WD1 is and even though you can disrupt traffic lights in WD2 its not as impressive. Sure there is like Massive hacks like Vehicle Hack and Communications Hack its still not that great. I mean I don't recall ever using the Mass Vehicle hack because it didn't really help me in any situation. I will say that the hacking in Watch Dogs 2 is a bit overpowered when you can call a Hitman or Police on anyone even the gang members and you can allow them to fight each other, which is useful in missions.
At the end of the day I think Watch Dogs 1 is still a great game. It had better story and better hacking tools. While it may not having the best driving mechinacs or customization it manages to stand out on its own and I sitll enjoyed it for what it is. Watch Dogs 2 it tries a bit too hard to be like GTA/Saints Row with all the goofy and sany things that are going on that just doesn't make it that interesting. I find Marcus a forgetable character and the story is not memorable. So yeah these games are a mixed bag for me.
Im playing watch dogs 1 since i got it with the gold edtion from legion. Its freakin amazing im hooked. Love using the silencer and taking out the gang hideouts or hacking into the enemies phones to explode them lol

i used to hate WD 1 when it came out, considering the choppy graphics and issues at that time, but as i started playing it, i loved it even more, and now, seeing the state of WD 2 and 3, WD 1 was by far the better game, it actually gave me feel of being part of the story, more mature story kept me engaged. 2 and 3 have these stupid goofy ass story and characters which never appealed to me at all..

Great video . Simple answer, watch dogs 1 is grounded and raw , greedy , and dark and watch dogs 2 is light hearted and fun , I think watch dogs 1 is better but ubisoft did something different in watch dogs 2 so , I can't say but both games are great .

I like Watch Dogs 1 more than Watch Dogs 2 but I feel like WD2 has more replayability. In vanilla WD1, all the side missions and such are just-- complete them and then done. There isn't really much to do in the world besides those random crime events, which are really fun - especially when they work out so cinematically well, and I just find myself having more to do in WD2. I don't like how in WD1 all those gang hideouts and such are restricted to missions-- that limits replayability value imo. That's why I recommend playing WD1 with the Living City mod on PC.
WD1 has more replay value than WD2. Playing WD2 without getting bored is the real challenge. Bro you’re using drone and rc car 90% of the time. Living city mod + graphics make the game so much nicer and has more immersion and makes the game feel alive. I feel bad for console players that can’t enjoy the game. On PC, the game looks better than E3 and next gen consoles too.
I have tried WD 2 yesterday and let me tell you it's so colorful and happy in comparison with WD 1 where it's dark and deep, and that's why I like WD 1
I just recently started replaying one again and one is so much better In my opinion because of it being so much darker and tbf most of that is also because I hate character changes unless there's a story behind it

For all those who wants to play the watch dogs series.
I have played all three of them, in fact I have got platinums for 2 of them.
So, if you ask me: watch dogs is wayyyyy better than watch dogs 2 and legion.
The main reason is Aiden himself. He is the best protagonist for this series. If you are going to play watch dogs legion, wait for Aiden , then buy the game and play the entire game as him. Coz the story of legion is pretty dark and he will fit well in that story.
Other wise go for watch dogs 1.
And if you are planning to buy it on ps4 and Xbox one. In the settings decrease the brightness to 0. It will not make the game dark but will give it more realistic look.

Personally love Watch Dogs 1 it amazes me I remember people saying "Aiden isn't a fun character to play as." I mean sure I'd be dancing on rainbows & S***ting glitter after my 6 year old Niece is murdered, and I was the intended Target.
I love my darker stories simply because they hold no punches.
Admittedly I can't say too much on 2 simply because I've played about, 2 maybe less hours of i, couldn't get into it, the happier vibe just throws me off completely and the takedowns honestly bug the crap out of me.
Now this is my own personal thought on the games as a whole including Legion here, I think what makes WD1 better to me is you yourself are not a member of DedSec, allowing you to choose are you more of the Cold Killer Fixer type, or are you the Nicer, more tactical hacker type.
Plus I am not a fan of the non-lethal weapons just feel meh.

Watch Dogs as a franchise is in a really weird spot. IMO, it is a modern (ie young) franchise that has got progressively worse with every release, which is pretty odd when one considers how solid the foundation was with the first title.
I really enjoyed WD1, enjoyed but didn't love WD2, and I flatout had to force myself to play the 17 hours it took to finish WD Legions story.
Personally, I found WD2 to be the best game in the series by far.
My guy, Marcus doesn’t use a yo-yo for his takedowns. It’s a freaking 8 ball attached to the end of some rope. The stealth in both games is so satisfying.
I disagree, watchdogs 1 was dull, depressing and boring in my opinion and his whole revenge mission for his niece had no wait when you see her for a few frames, watch dogs 2 had personality with compelling characters and more abilities

I also wanted to say that WD 1 still has the E3 graphics but they are just disabled which makes Watch Dogs 1's graphics better.( I found this after a lot of research on the game)

On pc there is a mod that unlocks the e3 graphics. You see the e3 gameplay was stock game footage, but for some reason they downgraded the graphics before full release. Luckily the option to turn e3 graphics on is in the game files, so a simple mod turns these back on, allowing for excellent graphics without external mods (apart from the one that turns the option on)

The first time I played watchdogs was a few years back when it first came out on games with gold for the Xbox one and I only played the first two or so missions then drop the game completely because I grew bored of it. Earlier this year I picked it up again because I was bored of all of the games that I had completed in the past such as RDR2 and GTA 4. I was a little lost on the story since I loaded up a save file where I was about 10% through the game and I only had little memories of playing but once I got through the first few missions I was hooked and having a blast. The gunplay, the stealth, the side activities and most importantly the story. I didn’t know what to think as Aiden as a character once I first started but as I spent more time with him I began to get very attached to him and he remains one of my favorite characters in gaming right next to Arthur Morgan and master chief. I feel like Ubisoft could’ve done better with the watch dogs series if they would have stuck with the dark and gritty tone of the original watchdogs instead of switching to a light and fun tone of the sequel. Watch dogs two was a good game but the thing it lacked was the completion of Aiden’s story. The watchdog series had so much potential. After playing watchdogs one and watchdogs two I was excited for watch dogs legion earlier this year and once I played through the first few levels of the campaign waiting in excitement for something to happen I later Lost interest in the story and became bored. The biggest feature of watch dogs legion is its biggest flaw sure, it is cool to be able to play as every single character in the game but if everybody is playable nobody is special. You can’t even call the people in watch dogs legion “characters” Because of the shitty voice acting and all of the characters in watch dogs legion act the exact same. One of the main things that makes a game good is a likable protagonist and a good story. If I am playing as someone in a game who I don’t feel attached to and can’t relate to I do not want to play is them, Which single-handedly ruins the experience of Legion. I do like the new DLC bloodline that they added so you can play through the campaign as a character not a robot who can say only 15 lines of unique dialogue. Watch dogs legion doesn’t even feel like a watch dogs game. If you showed me The original watch dogs and watch dogs legion side-by-side I would think they were two different games because of their differences. In The original watchdogs you or Aiden Pearce Chicago Batman who is also a cold-blooded killer trying to protect his city and his family while still also getting Revenge for his biggest loss. In legion you are some random fucking brit that is trying to take down Albion so London can be free with a little Shock pistol and “teamwork”. Watch dogs legion feels like it should be rated T not M. They have tone down the watchdog series so much that it doesn’t even feel recognizable anymore and I feel like Aiden Pearce should have a sequel because he is a very very good written character and Ubisoft just decided to leave him in the dust until recently. The original watchdogs is and remains to be one of my top five favorite games because if it’s replay ability and amazing story it is by far in my opinion the best game in the series.
Great video again MA! I agree with you on WD1 being better. Just like Aiden more, like the darker tone. I also think Chicago looks better than San Fran. WD2 seems kind of cartoony to me. It's definitely geared to a younger audience I think. I know WD1 got some early bad press, but it's a solid game. My ratings for the WD games are: #1- WD1, #2- Legion, #3 WD2. Lots of fun memories playing the 2nd one and i love the soundtrack as well but there's something about the main character i didn't like.
They wanted to make him so charismatic and cool and idk, i just didn't feel It but an awesome Gameplay and City was enough for me.

Gotta agree overall. The original game seemed to be so much more thought out then the second, which after all is an attempt to recreate the magic of the fist and which encounters limitations thereby. Furthermore, the development of Lucky and Iraq and their respective groups added an aura of menace coupled with fear of failure that few games attain. Of course, the first suffered thru the media/journalist blitz of negativity for "graphical downgrade" that I personally felt was highly uncalled for, merely twitch bait and a case of "ride the fad". When I played through Watch Dogs 1, it was one of my favourite games ever. But Watch Dogs 2 didn't even start to interest me since the beginning. To be fair, I only played the first few missions. But it just doesn't feel as satisfying sneaking around. I'm not too happy with the gadgets you have in WD2. Like yeah they're cool, but I found it a bit annoying to basically have to use them all the time, and I had a difficult time finding out how to approach an area I had to stealth through. Once again, I only played for like an hour or two, but the game just didn't feel like Watch Dogs. I will probably give it another try and play further though.
Actually the different gadgets and options are very good ways to diversify the gameplay, by providing different ways of approaching more or less stealthily, because you can complete a large part of the game without killing anyone, thanks to the gadgets, just as much as finishing the game killing everyone by rushing in with your weapons. I personally loved this dual gameplay

Watchdogs 1 was my No 1 favorite until I played Watchdogs 2.
I think one thing I like about part 1 is that the story is sadder because of the kid dying than the mission that you go to see the gravestone at.

I loved WD1 especially because of the atmosphere in it, in WD2 everything is so colorful kinda feels like what happened to dying light, when dying light 2 came out it felt more colorful then the dying light 1 where it felt more suspenseful

I Platinum both games, there both good but i like Watch Dogs 2 way more. I also prefer Marcus over Aiden and not a lot of people liked Aiden when he first came out and said that was one of the biggest problems with the first game. Also to me watch dogs 2 has a better soundtrack. Also Watch Dogs 2 has better graphics on console and PC haven't had anybody have a problem with the graphics on PC so I don't know what made you think that and I seen a lot of people played on Twitch with no complaints. Watch Dogs 2 looks bright and beautiful and watch dogs 1 especially on Twitch always look to dark and gritty. I definitely agree with you that watch dogs 1 has a better villain and is more personal to the protagonist and the combat is better in Watch Dogs 1 than it is on 2. But we all have our opinions so it's all good.

Personally don’t enjoy WD2 as much. Feel like they shoved politics down my throat the whole time. Games are meant to be an escape from all that so why bring it into the game. I don’t remember WD1 being political at all but it’s been years since I last played it so maybe I’m wrong

No way WD1 is better than 2. WD2 is everything WD1 should be back in 2014. WD2 is incredible, beautiful, fun, whit a diversified gameplay and a dense world full of details and things happening, you have more freedom to do whatever you want. Graphics wise, nothing beats watchdogs 1 night scene. It is miles ahead because the contrast between all the lights actually masks a lot of weak points of rasterization in general. And the city is also objectively more beautiful.
Another thing to note, online in my opinion was way more fun in the first Watchdogs game. Especially with all the glitches you could do and mess around with other people online along with battle grounds you can set up and use is very fun.

Every time you praise Aiden and WD1, i just love you more. WD1 was so dark and tragic story and i just love Aiden as a character. Although i must admit that as a game i prefer WD2 purely for gameplay and freedom.

Suggestion: Instead of comparing graphics you could compare artistic style. For example Odyssey has better graphics than Black Flag, but Black Flag is more pleasing to look at (ofc this is just my opinion)
WD1 is definitely superior. It's just a shame we never got the game that was marketed to us-a gritty, mature open world Max Payne/Hitman hacker game. And the series seems to become successively more soulless and devoid of character - rather than the dark intimate tale it teased at E3 all those moons ago.

Honestly. I love each game equally. They both are amazing and have pros and cons. Watchdogs 2 was my first Watchdogs game but it isn’t my favorite. I still have loads of nostalgia with it though and love it dearly.
I personally liked watchdogs 1 more. I started it and everyday I wanted to go back and continue playing and finish it. But watch dogs 2 even though I like it. I still haven’t finished it.
In WD1 you felt like a vigilante, In WD2 you actually felt like a hacker, goofy or not. Plus San Fran is a much more attractive and fun location to play in than Chicago in my opinion.

In my opinion, the first game is by far the best, the story, gameplay and open world activities are very fun in my opinion, even the reputation system, remembers of rdr, there is something in the second game that it's just not very appealling, maybe it's because the first one is simpler

Theres alot I loved about WD1. The few in-depth late game side quests were really immersive for me. particularly the serial killer one and the one where you steal the handgun that is bio-locked. i also really liked getting different trench coats and customizing that way, reminds me of Jedi: Fallen Order and the ponchos, maybe I just like things simple. Playing through WD2 for the first time right now and so far it just feels more...empty. Still Fun! Can't wait to see how it ends!
I thought the plot for WD2 sucked. while the game play was aimed at your hacking your way thru the game and it was fun. I miss my silenced pistol from WD1. it was the only gun I ever used very well. The silenced pistols in the second while supposedly more realistic was bad. I don't want realistic.
All of the guns in WD1 are great the gunplay in 2 felt like a downgrade to me, and yea the og silenced pistol will forever have a place in my heart
The biggest issue with Watchdogs two was the tone being too upbeat, even when they wanted a darker tone of the story. Such as in an eye for an eye, there was no impact.
I love all the Watch Dogs games and I appreciate you giving them love because they deserve it.
I played the first one 100 times the story makes you cry it’s fire
2 is objectively better for gameplay and the world/map while 1 is objectively better for story and atmosphere
The first game blows the rest out of the water, and mostly got bashed from the graphics being downgraded from the showcase Video. The campaign missions in this are the most varied, and it has a very mature storyline. The second game has good production values, but it doesn't take anything serious, and every mission is the same. No need to bring up the third game, it's a joke. I just played the original on the Series X again last week, it feels like the game just came out, it hasn't aged a bit at all.
This game, Blacklist, Far Cry 4 and Origins are the last good games Ubisoft made, now everything is big for the sake of being big with weak narratives. If you play this on next gen or even PS4/One, there's a lot of little features that wasn't in the original PS3 and 360 version. There's actual heavy wind, better shadows and lightning, first person view while driving, more trees and foliage including grass, more traffic and pedestrians, and other smaller details. On my Series X it's a flawless 60 FPS. I give it a 9 out of 10, but I would give it a 10 out of 10, if only I could turn off the HUD, turn the auto aim fully off, and turn those white enemy outlines completely off.
