One of the best voices…period! Genius musicians backing it up! Truly a masterful band and 7:23 section always gives me goosebumps
Finally a symphony x reaction! They are honestly one of the most underrated metal bands of this generation... I reccomend a song off their latest album, to hell and back! Cheers 😊
A fool's Paradise is my favorite song off of this album and needs to be listened to. Maybe it's just me but the vocals in that particular song remind me a little bit of Ronnie James Dio.

The ending of A Fool's Paradise is nuts and makes the whole thing worth it for me.

He does! But he makes the sound his own... Absence of Light is probably my favourite, along with Fallen and Egypt. And that closing track is just amazing. First album I heard by them and it's become one of my desert island albums for sure!

John petrucci and Michael romeo are my favorite guitarists. between the 2 i like John a bit more and my guitar playing has been influenced him alot more

Honestly, I can't rightly pick a song off the album as I just consider the whole album one song. Never sat and listened to a single song without it feeling incomplete.
my first symphony x album. i would then see them live for the first time on the odyssey tour with blind guardian. was awesome.
Great video you guys. My favorite band out of the 100s I listen to. Its awesome that Nick does the air animations to key parts!
Walls of Babylon by them is an epic powerful, beastly masterpiece with some sort of innocent cheesiness in the mix. Technicality is at its point, atmosphere check (oriental thingy that gets my comments deleted) and Russel Allen the voice is on full loose to the likes of all heavy metal legends singers all put together. Don't listen to the others when they say it's not progressive enough. It's SX 110 %

Inspired by... Rush, believe it or not. You'll find that common trait in most bands in this style - Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Metallica... all major Rush fans. :)

This was bassist Michael Lepond's first album, he's good, but I prefer Thomas Miller from the first 4 records. He's more technically proficient, and does lots of dual runs with Michael Romeo, reminiscent of licks in Racer X between Paul Gilbert and John Alderete...

Espero que no les moleste que les comente en castellano porque los conoci por la seccion en castellano xD y soy de Argentina. Pero es que estan analizando justo canciones que marcaron mi vida. Tanto estos temas de Symphony X, como Caifanes o Spinetta. Concuerdo con la diferenciacion que hacen de Symphony y Dream Theater. Este ultimo tiene una influencia mas a lo neoclasico de malsmteen, cayendo muchas veces en el power metal, es decir, tienen una influencia europea con la rama romantica, de chopin y otros autores que usan la escala dodecafonica, mientras Dream es metal progresivo americano. Con una marcada influencia del pop de los 80s sobre todo en el estilo cancion.

when it comes to this song, it's best played with Evolution that comes before it, in fact they intertwine like Light and Darkness, Yin and Yang, Good and Evil.

Seriously you guys need to do a video for Rediscovery part 1& 2 from this CD, one of their most epic pieces
I reckon she did not like it much, and was suppressing a small yawn at the end in the analysis. I absolutely adore this band and their albums, especially this one as it is so Proggy and melodic. However only one out of all my Metal loving friends likes it, the rest find it uninteresting and they avoid it.
