    I always like it when you see a snake respond so calmly. That rattler was really stuck, but just calmly hid without needing to threaten Marissa when she released it, knowing she wasnt a threat and actually helped it out.

    I think that was the first rescue that made me nervous for the rescuer. Marissa did a great job staying calm, but I didn't!

    I have binge watched like 100 of your videos the last week..... gradually getting less afraid of them (but without losing respect for the potential danger), but this one had me terrified. I am amazed by the skill and bravery of all of you at Rattlesnake Solutions. Both the community and the snakes are lucky to have you.

    Again I have a borderline unhealthy respect of snakes. I keep my distance and stay alert. But dang people glue traps like these are awful. Just like snare and coil traps are heinous. Rarely catches the intended animal wreaks havoc. I am soooooo grateful the oil trick works and you guys are trained and do this. Like mad respect!

    I've said it before, but thank you for doing this work! I will always recommend against glue traps. By the way, I *did* have to go back to make sure I really heard Marissa tell the snake to wipe itself off. XD

    Pest control put some of those in a pet store I worked at. Well.. it caught things that had escaped. I got a couple baby corns off ok with butter. After that pest control was not allowed to use those in the store.
    Nice of you to save the mouse too.

    I wish I’d known about oil some years back, when I found a mouse in a sticky trap at work. Not knowing what else to do, I dispatched it. That was not something I would *ever* want to do again. If I ever come across anything in one of those nasty things again, at least I’ll know what to do now, so thanks for that!

    • @dextermorgan1

      The best, fastest way to "dispatch" something on a glue board is to put it in a bag, and then put the bag behind the wheel of your car. Reverse. Throw bag away. It's horrible but it's quick.

    glue traps are awful. They're cruel for rodents that'll die in a couple days without food and water. Snakes can waste away for weeks before finally succumbing. Worst kind of animal trap.

    The one thing sticky glue traps are good for is those giant Asian "murder" hornets. I've seen videos where Asian beekeepers use them to prevent the hornets from destroying their honeybee hives.

    Sticky traps are cruel, but what's the alternative to using them? Poison? Letting rodents breed so they can chew holes in everything?

    • @JCinerea
      @JCinerea ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rattlesnake Solutions , admittedly I was being a bit snippy in my OP, so if you roast the heck out of me in your video, then I deserve it. Part of the reason I posted what I did is because we had a rodent infestation in my apartment building where the rodents chewed holes in the walls. They were getting into people's food and could have chewed through wires. Our landlord had to put out poison.

  • @phalypso

    Wow. I have never seen anyone do anything that risky. I'm all about looking after our planet and its creatures, great or small. I am not all about tempting whatever gods may be. Hands within inches of a seriously venomous reptile.? Average snake bite something between $100 and $150k.? and still possibly losing some fingers or a hand.? Possibly a life.? Nah. I hate it for the bear or wolf or coyote that is shot for climbing into the neighborhood dumpster. I hate it for the dogs put down for attacking a human. But here is the deal: we will continue to increase our numbers and expand our range which means we will steadily invade other creature's territory. Encounters are sometimes ugly. Sadly, though, the only animals that will likely ultimately survive are the ones that learn to live with us, reproduce faster than we can eliminate them or get as far from us as possible. Gonna miss you guys, and wish you all the best, but a rattlesnake is not worth a human, especially one trying to help it. I just don't want to see the video if the worst happens.

    • @RattlesnakeSolutions

      The actions you are seeing are far more controlled than I believe you interpret them as - I appreciate the concern - there's a big difference between risky behavior and professionals at work. We have relocated thousands of rattlesnakes over the past >10yrs without a single medical incident.
