Inktober 2018: Day 15 - Van Life Edition

- I never expected Inktober and van life to go together so beautifully. So often when I think of an artist, I think of someone who goes to a studio and paints. Or at least has a desk that they work at each and every day. But I've found being on the move is actually the perfect inspiration for creative expression. There are always new places and new stories to spark an idea and while the question of "What am I going to draw today?" still leaves me stumped sometimes, I have found that it comes up quite less often living on the road.

When I listen to your verbal interactions with each other I make up stories about you.....they are always good, lest you worry. As Lou talks about the battery and you chat as you are pouring oatmeal, the story unfolds......You are a couple reincarnated from over 100 yrs ago in Eastern Europe. He adores your positive outlook (and your oatmeal) and you listen with your heart over his disappointment about the battery. Different scenes set in different times and the same love flowing through each, deep as the universe is old, as true as the breath that breathes you both....life showing up again to love each other and eat oatmeal together, writing snippets, fix what breaks, film the beauty that is living in and around you and together watch the stars come out each night. 🦋🦋

I know this was a year ago but I just found your guys channel and I love it❤️the travel journals are so fun to watch, but I’m really enjoying this series. Makes me wanna do my own version of inktober this year. I love the simplicity and character to your black and white drawings. Is it the alternator that isn't putting a charge into the battery or is it a different battery that you use for the inside of the van that is just losing power? Either way I guess you have it sorted now as you're Lou and you can do anything :D
Another cool drawing. Dana, you've progressed from sketching with a Bic/Biro type pen to your artist pens. That's confidence. I wouldn't have attempted that one, it looked too detailed. All those fields and lines and sparse housing. But you nailed it. Well done.
Your the cutest couple ever. Be safe & warm, go to the local market and buy some persimmon fruit, in portuguese we say: dióspiros. Its very good to eat with oatmeal or just in edges with cinnamon, must try the hard ones and the "slappy" ones that looks like a big tomato ahaha...big hug 4 u both!

So good to see you in Régua. It's where my family is from. It's a little far up in the mountains but there is a beautiful natural pool where you can take a swim and also a river beach in Mesão Frio! Look it up, although I imagine the water is super cold now. You inspire me to start drawing, keep up, you're doing an amazing job! :)
