I still can't believe he's dead. He seemed such a happy and joyful character, who took immense pleasure from directing movies. Tony Scott was a great director who will be sadly missed by myself and the rest of his adoring fans : (
This is awesome, Tony Scott is my favorite director, his brother Ridley as well. I love his style, Tony Scott pictures are rich in contrast, stories are amazing, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Top Gun, Days of Thunder all top notch, even Revenge is a romance story with an edge.
he was a brilliant man, and he died brilliantly- every detail was well planned. People with the biggest hearts feel the most- it is their greatest beauty, and their greatest tragedy. The stars that shine the brightest burn out the fastest, Whitney Houston, Robin Williams, Tony Scott and so on. At least their work remains, for us to cherish long after they are gone. R.I.P beautiful angels
I made a film, wrote it, filmed it, edited it and starred in it in high school! It was exciting to me! The most challenging part to me was when others forgot their lines and you had to know all of their lines so you could improvise when it was a live performance after you already made the film and just going over it in class. 😁 I loved it though! Drama class was so much fun to me! 😁 Happy Holidays! 🌟❄️🎅🏻🎄🎉
If you listen to Tony Scott's commentaries for his films - there's a very distinct "theme" throughout them all - where he mentions "darkness" a lot. on Domino's commentary he talks about feeling scared, afraid of failure amongst his cinematic family. It seems like there was something that stemmed from his psychological state that lead to his death
i have so many repeats of his movies. don't get bored at all. sad that such a talented director is no more. wonder what thrilling movies he would have dished out if he were alive?! really sad.
True Romance is my favourite film of his. In my top ten for sure. Amazing script of course and the casting is amazing. The Walken/Hopper scene is my favourite scene of all time.
I kinda met him in 1999. in las vegas. he was taking pictures of the mirage casino. love his films. they're good fun, true romance, the hunger, enemy of the state, crimson tide, top gun, man on fire...unstoppable was cool too. dude rocked. true romance is so cool.
"The only contraception was Count-to-ten-and-pull..." - this guy is just great. What a down-to-earth humour. Terribly missed. Love his style of directing. Very inventive, very on the edge. Visual stylist par excellance. I think "Crimson Tide" is just perfect in terms of drama and acting. "Spy Game" fantastic. "True Romance" - great. "Domino" is hilarious. Hats off for one of the greatest. A true director to the very last. He yelled "Cut!" as he saw fit.
Wow! You sound like me! That’s what I said with those exact words!!! 😮 About you didn’t want to get divorced and you knew you would have to everyone else! Me too! There are sooooo many others who are waiting too! It’s extremely common now!! Especially since we live to be 100 years old! 😁👍🏻 Tony Scott is genius with my favorite aviation and some other movies with Tom Cruise!!! Amen!
All fans know Tony Scott was grossly under appreciated in his time...there was a reappraisal in the last years especially when younger directors like Tarantino spoke highly of him.But still find it shocking how at one period he was pretty much seen as some hack ...its interesting really considering the inordinate amount of genuinely talentless hacks helming movies now lol.Scott had a great visual grasp for story telling ....his movies ,though certainly there were a few misfires, were largely hugely entertaining brilliantly made high concept movies. You knew it was a Tony Scott film you were watching.....that real individual style he made look effortless.Watching multiplex big movies now with the rare exceptions you have no idea who is directing ,absolutely zero personality behind the lens.As if a computer is directing it.In many ways I feel brother Ridley has sort of been influenced more by Tony nowadays.Anyway thanks for all the movies Tony which I still watch, enjoy and marvel at to this day.
yeah must be and a heavy dose of snobbery. Its interesting as time went on there was more "critical "recognition.I suppose its age old genre snobbery. Its amazing in retrospect some of the derision handed to master movie makers Carpenter's The Thing and Blade Runner spring to mind just in terms of critical short sight at the time of their original runs.
Maybe he wanted to make a final and last movie with him as the actor jumping the bridge. That is horribly tragic. What drove such a man to to it when it seems he had it all. We’ll never understand, and he loved Denzel Washington. Most if not all of his movies were box office
I'm watching this going what made this incredible man kill himself. ..such a seemingly nice guy mm and he works with my all time favourite actor Denzel. .rip sir.
Xavier Jones While there were antidepressants identified in his system via the autopsy performed after his death, his brother, Ridley, has stated that he had been undergoing a lengthy and serious battle with cancer and reasoned that it was a major factor that lead to his decision to take his own life. While the medications he was taking, like other antidepressants, can sometimes augment suicidal thoughts, it is hard to leap to such a conclusion in Tony Scott's case without any intimate and detailed knowledge of his personal medical history and the exact circumstances in his life prior to his death. We can speculate all we want, but until there is irrefutable evidence to the contrary, then the exact circumstances which lead to his suicide remain somewhat of a mystery.
@@xavierjones4574 depression did it...not antidepressants (yes,i know they suck with all those side effects)but in many cases, specially severe ones, they also save lifes...
His family are conflicted,,but either it was a misdiagnosis by a reckless physical Or .. Unfortunately we will NEVER know and his Suicide notes may have the answers "??
No. It could Have been that he was misdiagnosed with CANCER or something "? His family hasn't been open with the public"?? Then again it's none of our business. He wasn't a movie star. Then again he was famous for his film's.
Sad , situation with Scott, If he only knew how many of his fans where really bummed I think he would have changed his mind , I would have minded so much if some one like Nicolas Cage committed suicide but Tony Scott he was actually, really good Director
True Romance is indeed Scott's best. A great film. And great interview. But gimme a break, "Well, gniii, I still think the best Tarantino film, gniii gniii (suppressed yet proud laughter), is the one you shot." Pretty snotty there, David... TR is great, but Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are simply better, I'm sorry. That's the way it is.
Yeah, that's not how opinions on cinema work. He gave his subjective opinion and you responded with your opinion yet you made seem like an objective statement. That's not how art works and it's especially not how films work.
I don't think I've ever seen camerawork as trashy as this before. We watched it until the end because we were in disbelief. The majority of his later films looked to have been rushed without any sign of a tripod. It's hard to believe that he made masterpieces such as True Romance, Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State previous to this decline in professionalism.
Thank you for your great movies Mr "Tony Scott". rest in peace.
He is missed by his family and especially his son's.
I still can't believe he's dead. He seemed such a happy and joyful character, who took immense pleasure from directing movies. Tony Scott was a great director who will be sadly missed by myself and the rest of his adoring fans : (
Suicide really destroys families. His son's were just small boys..when he ended his life.
he had incurable brain cancer
He was scouting locations for Top Gun 2 a few days before he died. Glad they included a dedication to him at the end
@Adrian Nostromo U Also Forgot Beverly Hills Cop 2!
@@vinceniederman3235 I think I'll watch that one tonight, I don't re-watch that one as much as the others,
Man on Fire, too.

They were joined at the hip.
I just watched "Top Gun" again yesterday, and thought of him. He was so talented.
He would of had 9 months left to live... RIP to the legendary Director Tony Scott (1944-2012)
Can you imagine had he NEVER been near that bridge "?? Something Really fueled his decision to kill himself.
RIP and thank you for making such a mark on cinema
This man made the best BMW movie I've ever seen. I visted his gravesite the other week. So sad. RIP Tony.

It's sad that he died, but at least he went out on a high note.
Unstoppable is one of his best films.
Same goes to Top Gun and Beverley hills cop 2
Tell that to his children. He left small son's. 😢
True Romance is my favourite film of his. In my top ten for sure. Amazing script of course and the casting is amazing. The Walken/Hopper scene is my favourite scene of all time.
Just recently discovered your interviews. Loving your channel. You should have WAY more viewers!
Beautiful interview... I selfishly wish for more of him.
I miss #robinwilliams more so . Because his A.L was eating at his brain. That suicide was more of a heartbreak..
Such a loss. He is greatly missed.

I think the Oscars just showed a clip from this interview for Tony Scott

I bet it’s soooo exciting and fun to make a phenomenal movie! All of them!
I love the way he says "YYEESS!!" it's like his catchphrase that he remembers to say at key points
tony scott's pelham is so underrated.
I love that camera techniques that he used when the trains almost collided. Love that shit.
It is incredible how in "great interviews", personalities makes reference to their death. We realized that of course after they passed away. R.I.P.
R.I.P. Tony! God Bless you......
The real reason Tony Scott directed the best QT movie is because it’s the only QT movie with heart.
What a great guy. So sad.
don't we all. he will and already is missed, no more tony scott films...enough said.
thank u for posting this
The Hunger was interesting, but True Romance is my favorite Tony Scott movie.

The interviewer gives Scott credit for his sub titles in Man On Fire but he stole it from the Russian film Night Watch.

No. I prefer Tony too. He took more risks and developed his style over time. Ridley got stale.
