I love this guy (Peter Cetera). No matter he's a star, he acts as a normal human being. He is polite and he is a truly gentleman. I really love him. This interview took place 29 years ago, but he is still in our minds and our hearts. I wish I could meet him some day, it is my greatest dream!!!!
The truth is Chicago's popularity actually was dropping as the 90s went forward. Cetera's solo career was losing some steam, but he actually used common sense and retired / "quit" . It was David Foster who resurrected Cetera's solo career by calling him to perform with the orchestra and his own band till he decided to retire for good.
Style-wise, Its not that theres no-one else like him out there. Its the music business geared towards corrupting young people with violence-laden and sexually-charged material. Songs of love etc (which, from what i can tell, is what people want and have been denied) are not on their elite-controlled media agenda. Its the polar opposite to what they aim to achieve, as it is with most mass media platforms and formats.
The voice fairy must have come twice to South Chicago in 1944. That is the only explanation for that heavenly, unique voice. George Michael came close, but there is still no comparison. Fans: listen to the album "One More Story" in addition to "One Clear Voice."
Funny how this interviewer doesn't know that Peter doesn't like talking about his old band and he wasn't a fan of the horns, yet this interviewer goes on and on about the horns.
I never knew how much of a cool guy he is until watching this. Thanks to TH-cam I am discovering more of his great music, through this it is nice to see that the personality matches his music too.
Chicago is in a way the definition of the 80's and 90's, amazing music they did and let me add Jason Scheff did a terrific job also. p.s. Damn, I forgot the 70's hahaha 😅
